I am buying a new car for the first time.I have researched the invoice price for Accord 06 Ex-AT with leather to be 22496 and MSRP 24950. With Invoice price being the same across all sites and i know there is 750 incentive other than the floorplan and holdback, what is the starting price point I should have with dealers. Any help is highly appreciated as I would be talking to dealers tomorrow. Thanks.
Thanks.
I have to wait til we get a new house with a garage as I don't want to buy a new car (of any trim) and park it on the street, but when i do buy, at the absolute most, I'm paying Invoice - incentive + TTL and should be able to get the car for 17K OTD.
Anything under that is brilliant (but thats with NC's 3% tax, yours may be higher.. so shoot for invoice - incentives and PAY NO HIGH FEES!)
Thanks.
And, to answer your question, that would be the I4.

Here's hoping... Cause that 1500 Marketing cash on the 2006 Camry is mighty tempting...
7-7-2006 at 7:28AM Central time and the Accord Edmunds true market value rose about $800.00 overnight. Anyone have any info on this issue? Maybe the May-June
dealer-incentives are not going to extended?
I have also noticed that in the past few weeks there have not been any new cars added to the dealer's 2006 accord inventory. Could this mean that the 2007 is coming in the next couple of weeks?
1.06 Honda Civic LX with automatic transmission
2.06 Honda Accord VP with automatic transmission
3.06 Hyundai Sonata GLS with automatic transmission
The thing is that midsize cars like the Accord and Sonata is about $400 more a year in insurance cost than the Civic (Accord insurance is the most). However, I can get an Accord for just a little bit over the Civic. A out the door price I got on the Accord VP is $18,520.56 and on the Civic LX is $18,258.31. The Sonata out the door is under $18,000. But due to better fuel economy and $400 less a year in insurance on the Civic, I am struggling to pick out a car (The total cost to own will eventually make the Civic cost less). I do like the Accord and Sonata better because of more room and horsepower, but liking it won't save me any money, now will it?
Can somebody give me some input on this?
For me, I will go with the Accord - Just bought one for the wife ('06 SE automatic). Originally was aiming at the Sonata, but it is such a junk, so we test drove the Accord LX, liked it, but the color we prefer is only available in SE or EX, so we chose SE and paid $800 more than the LX. I value my life and happiness more than a couple hundreds of $ per year. :P
Thanks!
Maybe that's enough for a purchase.
I have been reading these boards for over a year now and have finally pulled the trigger on a 2006 Honda Accord EX Manual Cloth Coupe last night. I was told by a dealer (not the one that I bought from) that the $1000 incentive has been extended to September 5th. My car does not come in until next week. Thanks to everyone for providing so much info on these forums. Here is what I am paying:
Invoice: $20,299
Minus Incentive: -$1000
Plus Window Tint: +$160
Plus Wheel Locks: +$79
Plus Destination: +$550
Plus Documentation Fee: $50
Bottom Line: $20135 (It seems like he gave me $3 to reach a nice round number) + TTL
I am in Austin, TX and want a alabaster silver coupe with grey cloth interior and the above accessories. I was told by a dealer I did not buy from there is only one in all of Texas (in Houston) and another on order. It turns out the one on order was arriving at a local Austin dealer and I put a deposit on it. I was also told that coupes are not being made anymore also. In short, the dealer was pretty firm about keeping his entire holdback. I know I left some money on the table by not insisting he cut into his holdback and not haggling on the accessories, but I figured it was not worth the trip to houston and I know this car will have less than 40 miles on it so I went for it. It is really hard for me to tell if I am being taken for a ride though (ie no more coupes being made, only one in houston and the one I got in the color combo I want). Anyone have any suggestions on how to lower the price further? I am not picking up the car until the end of next week so nothing is final yet. How do I get him to go lower?
2006 Honda Accord LX AT 4dr (I4)
$16,888 + TTL = $18,050 OTD
Herb Chambers in Boston, MA
2006 Honda Civic LX AT 4dr
$16,300 + TTL = $17,404 OTD
Kelly Honda in Lynn, MA
*worked very hard to get this price
I'd like to think those are good prices. We bought the Accord and we are very happy with it. It seemed to be a better value and the true cost to own does not appear to be very different compared to the Civic according to Edmunds.
Dealer incentives on the Accord have been extended in their current form. Check with your local dealer for any Lease specials.

Actually, the difference is so slim, I wouldn't let that influence your buying decision.
Sonata I-4 Auto: 24/33
Accord I-4 Auto: 24/34
Sonata V-6 Auto: 20/30
Accord V-6 Auto: 20/29
I normally pay attention to cars and a fan, so I can tell those while some (or most) can not. My wife did not feel those until I pointed out to her and she would not want to touch the Sonata any more - even I offer to buy her nice clothes with half of the money saved by buying the Sonata (Nah, just kidding...)
For the life vs. money. I feel you earn the money to spend so you can improve your life. Unless you really need that $400/yr to spend on something else that will better improve your life quality - Just my opinion though.
Good luck with your new car purchasing. You can not make a wrong choice by selecting either the Accord or Civic, but try to stay away from the Sonata.
Thanks!
When you want to buy a car...the best deal is to call all the fleet manager of the car dealers around your area. One might give you the best deal of all. Fleet manager is the secret to get the best deal....but call all dealers to compare...not all fleet manager will give you the best deal.
Regards.
Thanks
SO... based upon that info. the supply has become limited on 2dr Accords and there are enough customers for them and the '07's will be higher and therefore they can justify keeping holdback. There is enough of a price break to justify it. I think you did well. If you were not choosy and would take something off of someone's lot they would be more willing to negotiate. Choosy is not a bad word... you are willing to pay a little more to get what you want... that is a good thing. We call it a win-win!
