I am buying a new car for the first time.I have researched the invoice price for Accord 06 Ex-AT with leather to be 22496 and MSRP 24950. With Invoice price being the same across all sites and i know there is 750 incentive other than the floorplan and holdback, what is the starting price point I should have with dealers. Any help is highly appreciated as I would be talking to dealers tomorrow. Thanks.
Incentives may have ended on the 4th. Need to check to see if they were extended. That would amke a big difference. With incentives you could get well below invoice. The incentives were 750 sedan---1000 coupe.
What's the best price I can expect for ACcord VP Auto in Detroit Michigan area. Any inputs please? Also what's the major dif between VP and LX. IS LX really worth for $1800 more than VP. Please share your comments. Thanks.
That's what i'm trying to figure out. If the LX/LX SE is worth the extra money. I just can't see it. I'm trying not to be cheap, but once i was talked out of leather, paying 2K more for a better sound system, automatic lights, and body colored door handles/sideview mirror seems incredibly stupid.
I have to wait til we get a new house with a garage as I don't want to buy a new car (of any trim) and park it on the street, but when i do buy, at the absolute most, I'm paying Invoice - incentive + TTL and should be able to get the car for 17K OTD.
Anything under that is brilliant (but thats with NC's 3% tax, yours may be higher.. so shoot for invoice - incentives and PAY NO HIGH FEES!)
This brochure from Honda's website summarizes the differences between the various 2006 accord trims. I found it useful when deciding between the VP, LX, and EX.
I think they are coming out with these incentives tomorrow. I was calling a few dealers around NH and Mass and was getting nowhere because they didn't know what the new incentives would be for tomorrow. I am awaiting a call tomorrow from a dealer who will give me updated pricing. Today it was 22,500 for a 4 door EX-L AT 4cyl.
Want to as ssusnick1 - the car you bought, is it an Automatic or Manual. We are looking for the Automatic in the Michigan area. 21,300 + resonable fees sounds like a great deal. Thank you very much
Edmunds shows that there are no incentive for Accord as of 7-7-2006 at 7:28AM Central time and the Accord Edmunds true market value rose about $800.00 overnight. Anyone have any info on this issue? Maybe the May-June dealer-incentives are not going to extended?
Yes, it seems that the special pricing offer has been extended. The end date is not mentioned though. I have also noticed that in the past few weeks there have not been any new cars added to the dealer's 2006 accord inventory. Could this mean that the 2007 is coming in the next couple of weeks?
As of right now, they've killed the marketing support, i can only hope they raise it to 1K tomorrow. Even if the new cars are coming out, I'll still be buying a 2006 because I dont think dealerships will be willing to lower prices on brand new stock...
Thanks to all of you. After following this forum for many months I just bought an Accord EX V6 automatic for $24, 187 Out the Door price, except for tax and registration (which I will take care of in my home state). This below invoice price was possible because of the $750 marketing incentive provided to the dealer by Honda. No other Honda dealer that I contacted could, or would, beat that price. Your recommendations and non recommendations were appreciated. I went out of state and bought from Sport Honda in Silver Spring, Maryland. They provided the best price and the best selection and the easiest buying experience. The internet manager at Sport gave me his bottom line price by e-mail and that included any dealer add-ons that might be on the vehicle that we chose. The vehicle that we chose had pin stripes and Sport Honda threw it in, no cost, as they had promised. Have driven the car 400 miles so far and I love it.
1.06 Honda Civic LX with automatic transmission 2.06 Honda Accord VP with automatic transmission 3.06 Hyundai Sonata GLS with automatic transmission
The thing is that midsize cars like the Accord and Sonata is about $400 more a year in insurance cost than the Civic (Accord insurance is the most). However, I can get an Accord for just a little bit over the Civic. A out the door price I got on the Accord VP is $18,520.56 and on the Civic LX is $18,258.31. The Sonata out the door is under $18,000. But due to better fuel economy and $400 less a year in insurance on the Civic, I am struggling to pick out a car (The total cost to own will eventually make the Civic cost less). I do like the Accord and Sonata better because of more room and horsepower, but liking it won't save me any money, now will it?
It really depends on your priority. If you think life style and personal preference is more important than $400/yr, than buy the Accord. Otherwise, get yourself a Civic DX/HX and it will save you even more.
For me, I will go with the Accord - Just bought one for the wife ('06 SE automatic). Originally was aiming at the Sonata, but it is such a junk, so we test drove the Accord LX, liked it, but the color we prefer is only available in SE or EX, so we chose SE and paid $800 more than the LX. I value my life and happiness more than a couple hundreds of $ per year. :P
I just got a dealer to quote me 22,300 on a EX-L 4cyl AT. I guess the 750 is still in effect (at least it seems that way). I am going to be finalizing the deal next Wednesday. They wouldn't give me financing rates over the phone, which makes me a little mad. I guess I need to have some other rates quotes ready just in case.
Edmunds.com states that the invoice price for a 2006 Accord EX 2dr Coupe w/Leather, Navigation (2.4L 4cyl 5A) as $24, 893. However, it states people are really spending only $24,670 for it. Why would dealers sell it for less than invoice?
Thanks, but how was the Sonata junk? It seemed okay to me. It had a bit more features than the Accord and cost thousands less. I value my life too but I also value money. A couple of hundred a year can save up a lot in the long run. There is one positive the Accord has over the Sonata and it's the MPG. Maybe that's enough for a purchase.
Dealer incentives of $750-1000 allow the dealer's to sell for less than invoice although the incentives may have expired on 7-6-2006. No one seems to know for sure. Cars Direct still notes there there is special pricing on the Accord until September.
I have been reading these boards for over a year now and have finally pulled the trigger on a 2006 Honda Accord EX Manual Cloth Coupe last night. I was told by a dealer (not the one that I bought from) that the $1000 incentive has been extended to September 5th. My car does not come in until next week. Thanks to everyone for providing so much info on these forums. Here is what I am paying:
Invoice: $20,299 Minus Incentive: -$1000 Plus Window Tint: +$160 Plus Wheel Locks: +$79 Plus Destination: +$550 Plus Documentation Fee: $50 Bottom Line: $20135 (It seems like he gave me $3 to reach a nice round number) + TTL
I am in Austin, TX and want a alabaster silver coupe with grey cloth interior and the above accessories. I was told by a dealer I did not buy from there is only one in all of Texas (in Houston) and another on order. It turns out the one on order was arriving at a local Austin dealer and I put a deposit on it. I was also told that coupes are not being made anymore also. In short, the dealer was pretty firm about keeping his entire holdback. I know I left some money on the table by not insisting he cut into his holdback and not haggling on the accessories, but I figured it was not worth the trip to houston and I know this car will have less than 40 miles on it so I went for it. It is really hard for me to tell if I am being taken for a ride though (ie no more coupes being made, only one in houston and the one I got in the color combo I want). Anyone have any suggestions on how to lower the price further? I am not picking up the car until the end of next week so nothing is final yet. How do I get him to go lower?
We're in the Boston area and we would like to share our best prices with everyone. Prices include destination fees.
2006 Honda Accord LX AT 4dr (I4) $16,888 + TTL = $18,050 OTD Herb Chambers in Boston, MA
2006 Honda Civic LX AT 4dr $16,300 + TTL = $17,404 OTD Kelly Honda in Lynn, MA *worked very hard to get this price
I'd like to think those are good prices. We bought the Accord and we are very happy with it. It seemed to be a better value and the true cost to own does not appear to be very different compared to the Civic according to Edmunds.
I was offered a EX-L 6 speed-6 cylinder coupe for about the same price from Wolfchase Honda. It was actually 24,600 with about $800 retail of worthless accessories. Which dealer are you working with? I was trading in a perfectly good 2001 CL-S and they were actually giving me Edmunds value for that. But, I haven't pulled the trigger.
In general, I feel the Sonata will have the job done, but not in a smooth way as the Accord did. The ride was a bit rougher, the interior material feels cheaper and the exterior paint and fit are not as good (It is really easy to see if you have 2 side by side - although most dealers would not admit it).
I normally pay attention to cars and a fan, so I can tell those while some (or most) can not. My wife did not feel those until I pointed out to her and she would not want to touch the Sonata any more - even I offer to buy her nice clothes with half of the money saved by buying the Sonata (Nah, just kidding...)
For the life vs. money. I feel you earn the money to spend so you can improve your life. Unless you really need that $400/yr to spend on something else that will better improve your life quality - Just my opinion though.
Good luck with your new car purchasing. You can not make a wrong choice by selecting either the Accord or Civic, but try to stay away from the Sonata.
Guys - What price for the car (minus tax) are being quoted for you in Memphis? I am looking to buy an EX-L 4cyl Sedan for a price of ~$500 below invoice plus TTT here in Memphis.
Call all three dealers in Memphis/ They are dealing. If the incentives are still around, which they appear to be, 500 under invoice should be easy. Wofchase offered me the 6 cylinder-manual- coupe for 1000 under invoice. If there are several of the model you want on the lot I would really lowball them. Worst they can say is NO! You can always raise your offer.
All, When you want to buy a car...the best deal is to call all the fleet manager of the car dealers around your area. One might give you the best deal of all. Fleet manager is the secret to get the best deal....but call all dealers to compare...not all fleet manager will give you the best deal.
Hi, we are from Michigan and we are getting a 2006 EX-L Auto 4 cyc new for $22680 Out the door with taxes and all from a dealer out of Toledo Ohio, They beat our local dealer by nearly 2000 off there best price.
Hi, yes the Mich tax is included. They included this in the OTD price and mail the tax check to you. You leave with a 30 day tag and then give the Sec. State here in Michign the Check for taxes. This is for people who want to include the tax amount in their financing. So back the tax out the price is $21397 for the EX-L Sedan 4-cyc or 22,680 OTD (Out the Door) -
I live in Michigan too. Would you mind telling the dealership in Toledo, OH. Is the transfer of registration to Michigan a complicated process? or really worth the money savings buying in out of state? Please share your experience. Thanks
It is called Brown Automotive Group. We are currently in the process of Getting this - I will keep you posted. - It should be worth it as they were about $1800 less than our local dealer
I am a Dealer in the Houston Area and I can confirm our last allocation of Accord Cpe was last month. Dealers tend to pick other colors than Silver because our allocation system defaults to silver (Especially in Accords- If we don't catch it we end with a lot full of silver accords :P )
SO... based upon that info. the supply has become limited on 2dr Accords and there are enough customers for them and the '07's will be higher and therefore they can justify keeping holdback. There is enough of a price break to justify it. I think you did well. If you were not choosy and would take something off of someone's lot they would be more willing to negotiate. Choosy is not a bad word... you are willing to pay a little more to get what you want... that is a good thing. We call it a win-win!
Thanks for the prompt reply. Do you mean $1800 less means invoice - 750(dealer incentive) - 1800 or just invoice - 1800. Could you please clarify for me. Thanks.
Wow, $16,888 for an LX AT - sounds really great. Before I contact Herb Chambers dealership, just wanted to double check with you: Is this really LX AT Accord (not VP AT)? Thank you very much.
The lowest quotes I got from NY/NJ dealers on the 2006 Accord EX-V6 so far are $23,618 w/o Navi and $25,232 w/ Navi. Can I do better than this in this region?

And, to answer your question, that would be the I4.

Here's hoping... Cause that 1500 Marketing cash on the 2006 Camry is mighty tempting...

Actually, the difference is so slim, I wouldn't let that influence your buying decision.
