    Just bought a honda Pilot LX for 22,488. (includes destination) I don't think I can do any better than that. It took me a month to finally negotiate that price. Has anyone been close to this?

    I believe, from their advice, that you usually pay a 1st mths payment, a security deposit, and the acq fee.. you do not have to pay the "leasing" word for down payment; I can't think of it now. I've only leased once in 2001.

    I bought my 2005 Pilot EX-L RES from Miller Honda in Winchester,Va for $32,400. OTD. I tried a dealer in Laurel,MD close to where I live and they wanted $2,600 more than Miller Honda. The dealer in MD also quoted me a price over the internet and added a $1,500 "Protection Package" when I went to deal with them in person. Send me an email if you want more info.

    This is a bit long, so please bear with me. I just got back with my new Honda Pilot EX-L black w/gray interior that I purchased in Oklahoma City (I live in the Denver area). I've been actively researching internet prices for the past 6 weeks, and I've got to give kudos to this site for the info provided..THANKS TO EVERYONE!! I started researching Denver for LX, EX and EX-L models and was unable to find quotes less than 300-500 over invoice. Realizing that I had a free airline voucher that needed to be used by mid-June, I decided to expand my search area to markets within two days' drive. My research revealed Houston to be a most competitive market, and after several iterations between area dealerships, I had gotten the price down to $1100 UNDER invoice.....$26,512 for the EX and $28,489 for the EX-L (including destination).(We had quickly decided that the LX was not for us, so we focused on the EX and EX-L. ) Numerous area dealers were within a couple of hundred dollars, including Goodson-North, Goodson-West, Gillman, Clear Lake, and Russell and Smith, and Holmes Honda of Shreveport, Louisiana (check their listings on e-bay) was also competetive.

    Armed with this info and the fact that Houston was a 2-day drive, I decided to float these prices in a closer market. I e-mailed 4 dealers in the Oklahoma City area, and one responded that at these prices it must be a scam, but another dealer (Bob Howard Honda) agreed to match the Houston prices!!! ( I also ran this by a Denver dealer who, when confronted with my prices said: "I guess you have to go where you have to go to find the right price." I did as much cross-checking as I could on the OKC deal from a distance and determined that the offer was legitimate, so I booked my flight to OKC for yesterday. The finance department at Howard contacted me and said they'd keep me posted about Memorial Day special finance incentives and they called me as soon as they got the fax from corporate. I arrived in OKC and the internet manager I'd been working with even met me at the airport and drove me to the dealership! The deal went very smoothly...everyone was professional, there were no surprises, and I was out in 90 minutes! I stayed with in-laws in the OKC area last night and drove back to Colorado today. I figure it was worth the 10-hour drive to save 1500-1800 bucks over Denver prices.

    So here's the summary of my deal:

    Honda Pilot EX-L, nighthawk black pearl, gray interior:

    I'm paying title, tax and registration back here in Colorado.

    My deal was a $4346 discount from MSRP and $1100 under invoice. Yes, the 199.50 might be considered a bit much and was $75-140 higher than the Houston market, but I was willing to concede that to eliminate the additional day's drive. I opted for the 2.9/48, since it saved me nearly $1200 interest compared to 3.9/60. By the way, the 1.9/2.9/3.9 for 36/48/60 mos. for Memorial Weekend are regional incentives....I'm not sure they apply nationwide.

    Anyway, I'm still pinching myself as I can't believe I pullled off such a great deal. Thanks again to everyone on this site...I couldn't have done such a fantastic deal without the info provided here. I had such a great experience with Bob Howard, I'll consider doing my next deal with them. I'm not sure everyone will be able to get my deal with them, but it's certainly worth a try. If this was a $500 savings, I'd have bought locally, but for $1,500+, it was worth the drive......my wife loves her new Pilot!!!

    Ok from the light reading I have done, I take it there is a $1k dealer holdback on the Pilot's right now essentially lowering the invoice to 28599. I also noticed that there seems to be some special financing this weekend as well. Does anyone know if this applies to the Sacramento market? and when does the holdback expire?

    Like almost all manufacturers, Honda always has a holdback on its vehicles. It is, I believe, 3%. The special financing is a national program.

    Did any of you buy any of the dealer add-ons? The one I am most interested in is the back-up assist. Here are my questions:

    1. What did the dealer charge for installation on any add-ons you purchased?
    2. How is the back-up feature working for you so far?

    Because of the areas that I drive in, the back-up assist could be life saving, and definitely fender saving if it works. There are other things I'd like, just for the sanity saving aspect - anything to make life a little less compicated!

    My local dealer called, they do not have the 1.9% on the Pilot, but offered me 4.5% at invoice price before we even talked any numbers.

    I think you are correct on this. My finance guy at Howard Honda in OKC indicated that this was a regional incentive that included Colorado residents (where I live) for this weekend. I'm sure there are other Honda regions also carrying these incentives for the holiday weekend, but perhaps not all regions. For instance, several states had 2.9 financing for most of April, including Maryland, Virginia, Texas, Oklahoma, Washington and Oregon. I was unable to take advantage, event though I wanted to purchase in Oklahoma, since this only applied to residents of those states. So there are certainly quirks in the rules for finance incentives, but it's definitely worth pressing the dealer to see if they exist for your situation.

    i think you'd met good dealer.

    I'm also looking for best deals for PILOT EXL and i stopped by Colonial Honda dealer CA. they gave me amazing offers.

    sticker was $32,835 plus 10% of sticker price for several fees(sales tax, licence fee) and 7.9% for 60 month (10,000 down).

    can you believe this? They say my montly payment will be $529.32 after $10,000 down payment. stay away from this dealer.

    I agree with you about Colonial Honda dealer in Glendale, CA.
    A very bad dealer , dishonest sale rep and even the sale manager. bait and switch tactic.

    If you're in southern California and is shopping for a Pilot, I would recommend Spirit Honda
    in El Monte. Contact their internet sale team.

    After I bought mine last weekend, yesterday, I helped a friend buy a Silver Pilot EXL RES from the same dealer in Southern California. Paid $ 29,700 (including destination) + $250 Protection package + $45 doc prep. + $8.75 Tire waste fee + Tax + CA DMV fees ~ $250, Honda Care 7yrs/100K mi/$0 deductible for $1150. In addition, I was able to get him the 1.9% for 36 months. He had a trade and he received a fair price for the its condition that he was happy with, a couple of hundred below wholesale KBB.

    I just purchased a Pilot and I did but the backup sensors. Not installed yet, but I can tell you about pricing. The dealer offered me two sensors at $599 and four sensors at $699. The dealer refused my offer of $350 for the four sensors, but we agreed on $450 for the four - including parts and labor.

    Several dealers had pricing within a couple hundred $$...all below invoice, including McDavid, Gillman, Goodson-North, Goodson-West, Russell and Smith, and Clear Lake Honda. You also might check with Holmes Honda of Shreveport, Louisiana (check their listing on e-bay for an EX-L at $1,000 below invoice--they seemed willing to extend the same deal for a vehicle in the color I wanted). Hope this is helpful!

    Doesn't everyone know that the best time to buy a car is the LAST DAY OF THE MONTH? It doesn't matter if there are "3 Final Days of Memorial Day Sale"... The last day of the month rules!!!

    Would like to thanks the edmunds website & all of members for sharing information and assisting me to get good deal & decide on good car.

    Just bought today EX-L Silver with Navigation at $30,900 , 300 dealer processing + tax & tag. Looks like a good deal and also got 1.9 % apr for next 36 months financing.

    Also, bought extended honda waranty for $950 for 7 yrs / 75 K with 0 deductible.

    Let me know how does this deal looks, and in case anybody want more details.

    I bought a Nighthawk black w/Saddle leather interior for $29,650 (incl Destination fee) over the memorial day weekend. Added a chrome side-step for $670 (incl installation) and a 7Year/75K $0 deductible Hondacare warranty for $850.

    I asked the special Honda financing mentioned by a number of posters. The finance guy in the dealership mentioned that -it does not apply to Pilot. The information I found on this website helped me negotiate this deal. Thanks !

    Just wanted to let you know that the special 1.9/2.9/3.9% special financing does apply to Pilots in Southern California. I got the 1.9% for 36 months for a friend on Sunday 5/29 for an 05 Pilot EXL RES. What kind of financing rate where you able to get? I realize it depends on credit rating.

    Just wondering what they are offering nowadays.

    Parents bought a Sage Pilot EX over the Memorial Weekend with runningboards ($900MSRP?). $28000 w/ dest. They got 3.9 finance for 60mo. 3K down. From Penskye in Ontario. Could have done 1k better? We're in So Cal keep in mind.

    My Honda dealership (Diamond Bar) was offering EX-L w/DVD for $30,800. My dad didn't take it because he thought they could do better. We ended up not going back because we did not want the heated seats/mirrors, DVD, and leather. I'm not sure how much we're going to miss the Stability control & brake assist though.

    BTW what does EXL RES mean?

    Looks like people are getting these for $1000 under invoice. I should not have let that $300 running board distract me! Also, I should have turned to the internet earlier. I was with my Dad and the only thing I had to work off of was that $30,800 EX-L RES from the day before. $30,800 - $3325 (trim price differnece) + $400 (fair price running board) = $27875 for EX w/destination.

    I was quoted EXL for 28,600 (destination charge included) w/ 1.9% x 36 months, zero down. Aside for licensing and tax, what are the other "hidden" costs (paper work fees, financing fees) that I should expect to fairly pay? Are there dealers that put additional hidden "paper work" fees into the hidden costs and lower the quote? Thanks in advance!

    I am currently looking to lease a Honda Pilot EXL RES for 36 months with 12K miles/year.

    The best offer that I have located at this point is 1K down and $330/month.

    Can someone tell me if this is a pretty great deal or if I should keep looking? I have contacted at least 20 dealerships in the area to get this price.

    Also, if I change vehicles every 3 years and drive very little mileage, is leasing always the best option???

    I think this is preety good. I am looking for the same car in LA area. EXL-with NAVI and the best deal I got is $30250. After the lease calculation it ends up almost the same like yours.

    This board very helpful in doing research. I almost forgot to come back here and post my experience.

    Purchased on 5/21 a Redrock Pearl EX-L (non DVD, non NAV) for $28,750 + TTL from Honda Cars of Corona. Internet dept. very professional. Was the lowest price I could find that weekend for an EX-L, plus the only one I could find that had Red (wife's favorite). Only hassle was they wanted to steal my trade in from me (2002 Ody w/ 36K miles going off-lease in 2 months). I decided to park the Ody for 2 months until the lease runs out.

    Corona has a ton of Pilots, including about five of the rare red ones, but all had DVD or NAV (which I did not see the value in paying up for).

    Love the way it drives compared to the Ody (which werent bad, if you know what I mean).

    Just curious on why you traded in your Odyessy. The reason I ask is that I had a 2001 Odyessy, lease ran out, got a GMC Yukon (lousy car) and now trying to figure out whether to get another Odyessy or Pilot. I have a back problem Pilot is more comfy but Odyessy is more practical with 3 kids 11 years old and under.

    Just signed an intent to purchase deal. I used http://www.carbuyingtips.com/ They have a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel that you can download. You use edmunds.com and carsdirect.com to get invoice prices, fill in all the blanks and the spreadsheet does ALL of the math for you. Out the door price for 2005 Honda EX-L with Navigation and an added aftermarket overhead DVD player came to $33491.00 From Pohanka Honda in Fredricksburg, VA. I'll have to add $249.00 "processing fee" and 5% VA state tax. The figures on the spreadsheet were 30,871 base price of the EX-L w/ NAV. $1100 aftermarket DVD 7" dropdown w/ 2 headsets, allow 3% for dealer profit, added $515 destination charge. All of this was input to the spreadsheet. I faxed it to different dealers and they responded as to whether or not they can accept the price I would like to pay. I used Kelly Blue Book for my trade-in value of my 2001 mpv van. put that in the spreadsheet and they agreed to give me the value for my van, even though the carpet is in bad need of replacement. Great experience so far. The neat thing about them is they allowed me to get a cash back allowance for an aftermarket DVD (RES) system from a store in Woodbridge, VA that does nothing but install these systems and didn't push me to purchase this from their department.

    The only thing I'm sad about so far is the fact that I cant have built in XM radio like the Acura MDX has.

    I got the best quote for EX-L with navigation for $30,000 today. It seems lower from wholesale price that I got from consumer report. Most of the dealers give me an easy internet price of $30200. The price is lower compare to last month. Can anyone share their experience ?

    Also I am not aware Locks and Mud Guard. Is it worth it ? Thanks.

    Seems you could do a bit better as this is about $200 over invoice (incl destination). See msg 3876 on this forum..they did a deal of $24399 + TTL for a LX just over a month ago in north Jersey.     Just wanted to say that this site has been a great help. We are planning on buying a EX-L w/DVD this weekend. I'm working through the internet with several dealers. I'm hoping that I can do this entire deal under 30K. I did want to let everyone know that they are changing the 06 Pilots. From what I heard the change will be significant. I don't know if this helps in getting a better price on the 05's but I don'e think that it hurts to have the information.

    I am in LA but I can give you my experiece with Pilot. EX-L with Navi you can get it easily for $30,000. EX-L with DVD around $29,400. I end up getting the Acura MDX since the lease price is almost the same within this 2 cars. Hope that helps

    Here's the best offer I've gotten online...
    2005 Pilot EX-L $29,588.85 / 59% residual,
    36 month
    0 down,
    Total drive-off $659.49 (including 1st payment of course)
    Base monthly rental : $368.20 + 28.54 monthly tax = $396.74

    I inquired about an Ex and and EX w/ DVD system, was told as compared to EX-L these would be about 2% residual difference &
    EX- about $50 less monthly , based on 27,611 sale price
    EX -L w DVD -about $50 more monthly, based on $31,186 sale price

    (though sonysw in L.A. cites better prices...maybe I should go down south!!!)

    That sounds correct. I got the quote for mine priced for $30100. It came out to $420 monthly. Total drive of $765. Financing through Honda. FYI you can also go to leasecompare.com. Put the price etc with moneyfactor 0.0018 to get an idea.
