Depending on what model you are interested in, you may get disappointed. We just came back from O'Hare Honda, and they did not have model they provided the quote via email, but they claim they can get it. They were trying to push model with different options, and usual dealer tricks with pricing. I would stay away if you have to travel from another city. They have 2-3 EXL 4WD with NAV, if that is what you looking for make sure you will get VIN via fax with mgr signature under the price. Good Luck.

I just got EXL 2WD from Valley Honda in Naperville $25,500 includes destination, pin stripe and mud guards.

Let me know if you have more questions

Just purchased a new 2007 Honda Pilot, 2wd, EX-L w/RES in Texas. Paid 27,268 before TTL. Drive out was 29,221. I belive this' a good deal. Any comments?

Also can someone tell me where I can find the best price on honda care extended warranty. Dealer was quoting 1495 for 6yrs/100k. I know this is overpriced and want to know the best place to buy this.

This forum is great and gives valuable information.

    STAY AWAY FROM O'HARE HONDA!

Everyone requesting EXL 4WD gets $25412 from O'hare Honda. You are not the only one and definitely you have NOT get a great deal yet (you are going into their trap)! All the EXL 4WD on their lot have dealer installed options(wheel locks, splash guards, strips, door guards, ...) and they will charge you extra $600 to $900. Now, $25421 + destination + options is around $26700 which you can get from any dealer.

Even you got the price, VIN, signature, ....., they can still say NO! Remember it is not against the law for them to say NO! My advise is to find a "more reasonable" dealer and get your pilot. At this time it is very hard to find the color you like. The color left are mostly gray and dark cherry. Or you may want to wait for the 2009 brand new pilot which will be on the market spring of 2009.

    Good Luck!

I just found this forum and actually just bought an 07 Nimbus Gray(sp?) 4WD EX-L w/NAV and an extended warranty (7/100,000) OTD for $35246. Did I get ripped off??? :(

After reading this forum for the past 2 months and emailing half a dozen dealers, I finally bought a EX-L 4WD from Burns Honda in Marlton, NJ. You can check their inventory on their website and seems to have over 50 Pilots including the 2008. Bring in your lowest quote and they should be able to match it. I went there because they had the color and model that my wife wanted.

Purchase price - 26,751 included destination
Pinstripes, Etch, wheel locks - 195 I should have fought harder not to paid but with two kids around, it was hard to bargain.
Transfer registration to the keep the plates 58. If you do not transfer your plates, it will cost you close to 400. Lucky for me the trade in car is in the same weight class.
    Document fee - 159
    Tax - 1886
Out the door - $29049 without trade in
Out the door - $26695 with trade in.

I didn't get a good trade in value for my 1999 Nissan Quest SE. It have a broken handle and a dent in the back of the car. The last tune up was at 20K and the car had 85k and needed new tires. This was my first new car when my daughter was born. I will make sure that the Pilot I just purchased will be well maintained.

The finance guy tried to sell me warranty (1500+ 7 yrs/120K) telling me that it is a good price. This is my fourth car I have purchased since 1999 and the cars are made better these days and will take a chance without the extended warranty. I did have to finance the car at 7.29% for 60 months but will find a lower rate at a bank and pay off the Honda Loan. I know the finance guy could have given me a lower rate even with an excellent credit score but maybe because I got the car at a really good price. Advice to all, check for lower rates and bring a blank check to negotiate.

Overall, it is a great price with the incentive. A friend of mine purchased a Pilot in 2004 and paid closed to MRSP. If you can save over $7,000 off of MRSP, you have a good deal. I did have to spend 4 hours from testing the car, negotiating the price, trading in the car and meeting the finance guy.

Good luck to everyone buying their pilot.

myhondawarranty.com has some of the best prices on the Hondacare warranty if you are interested. Purchase it on the internet if you want to save. If you must finance it bring the prices from the website to get as close to them from the finance guy as you can.

    Good Luck

First and foremost, a grand thank you to all in this forum for sharing their experiences and knowledge to help all of us.

I finally signed on the dotted line last night and drove off the lot with my new ride. Have to say.. this is my very first new vehicle purchase and it was the easiest purchase EVER!

I went to Klein Honda in Everett, WA as they beat everyone I talked to in a 50 mile radius. The salesman (email me if you want more info) was absolutely a perfect gentlemen and recognized that even though I am a woman, I too can do alot of research and knew my stuff. He was a straight shooter, we didn't dicker around with pricing and he kept his word. He recognized that for those who do their research, he doesn't deny the fact of holdbacks, floorplans and dealer cash. With a net invoice of $27,000. All they were asking was a little profit on the car.

Over the phone we agreed to $27,500. Once I got there, the only addition were the mudflaps and wheel locks. I did gently voiced that I would not be needing them. He had them listed at cost, and then further reduced the price by another 100 bucks. He comes out with the huge "options" book, asks if I'm interested in any, I say no thank you and he puts the book away. Not a second word mentioned. Did a complete walk through and demo of all the features.. and was even helping and overseeing the cleaning crew making sure my ride was perfect.

He did look at my possible trade in and gave me the price he could give me, even though it was the best price that I received from any other dealership it wasn't worth it to trade and he even said so. The difference is that he didn't start fudging numbers and mixing up the two different transactions.

The finance guy was fast and efficient. He showed all the extras and options which I declined and that was it. Absolutely no pressure tactics at all!

I was OTD after TTL at $30,500.

If you want to find a great vehicle, in and out the door in short order without any hassles at all. This was the sweetest, easiest deal I've ever had purchasing a vehicle, no hype, no song and dance, no pressure tactics... and if you bring your kids (I had my 3yr old with me) they will feed them too!

Email me if you have any questions or would like further info.

    Thank you to all!

    Cheers,
    T :shades:

it seems like you may not have received the best deal. i don't know what your taxes, tags, dmv costs were....and those are all considerations. also, you did get the extended warranty which adds on to the overal cost. plus any add-ons like running boards, roof rack....etc.

before TTL you should have been somewhere in the neighborhood of $3500 below invoice.

if you feel you were mislead, post the dealership name and location so that others won't be ripped off.

THANK YOU for telling me this. I actually couldn't get the guy at Castle to really beat my lowest price so we're defintely not going with him. But thanks for telling me because it was between Castle and Ohare.

Joliet couldn't match the price I'd gotten, but I tried. I'm in the SW suburbs, so this would've been much easier to go to!

I checked with the salesman to make sure there are no add ons, because I won't pay for them and have no problem walking out. He did assure me that there will be no surprises, so we'll see. We're buying the car tomorrow.

    Hi all

Finally, I purchased 2007 EXL 2WD NAVI for OTD 28,850. Thank you all in this forum for your valuable postings. Initially approached 15+ dealers in Atlanta area

Love this car especially the Navigation system. I considered Lexus RX 350 and Acura MDX. Nothing could match Pilot in Value.

Base Price: 27190 (7550 off MSRP of 34740)
    Tax: 1636
    Title 24
    Total: 28,850

Thanks for sharing your experience with Klein Honda. I'm interested in buying a pilot and would like to contact the salesman at Klein who helped you. I'll be glad to give your name as the referring party as sometimes they reward referrals.

The dealership is Winter Auto in Pittsburg, CA. The sales person showed me their "invoice" price of $34K and I had mentioned to the salesperson that I've been having email conversations with their internet sales manager and she had agreed to give it to me for 29,100 + fees. The strange thing is...even with this written email quote...they still weren't going to sell it to me for that price. He told me some BS story that nobody in their right mind would sell me the vehicle below invoice. It was the most annoying process. Anyway...the best part of it all was the actual owner of the dealership came over to me. I had my boys with me so we spoke for a bit...then from around the corner...the sales guy AND his Manager came around. The moment I saw them....I told them that I'd be more than happy to provide them with the email because I felt as if I was being made into a liar. Well...long story short...I got the vehicle at the price I was quoted and they gave me the money that I wanted from my trade AND they gave me back my 5K rims from my truck!!! :)

My neighbor (who is a Honda salesman) was trying to get me to buy another Pilot. He told me that the incentives were changing on July 21st. He did not know what this new incentive was.

I also emailed another Honda dealer. They quoted me $3500 minus invoice and it was good until the 20th.

Can anyone verify if there is a new incentive on the 21st?
  • jfritschjfritsch Member Posts: 958
Tell them you would like to buy it. 7700 off msrp (whatever that is) +2000 tax or so (in chicago 7%?) + 200 or so in transfer and doc fees. Wheel locks and mudflaps are worth $80. Tell them to write it up and tell you the final price as you want to buy today. Although I usually don't suggest it go to the dealership then and get the vin confirmed from them , the mileage and that it has no extra options. I think the Vin actually may show up on the computer so get it. Put $300 or so deposit on credit card. Protection packages for fabric and paint are worth $150. Step rails about $400. Even if they get you for a bit more $7700 off msrp or 7500 off is worth it. If transferring it will probably have at least 75 miles on it. Monday or tues should be a good day to do this

If it turns out they were goosing you and things get too out of hand just walk out, a 6500 off deal is nothing to write home about.

    Good Luck
    --jjf

Thanks, jjf. I did get the OTD then, but I think they will try to add in wheel-locks and mud flaps like someone else mentioned. Should I discuss this over the phone? And because I want a color they'll have to get, I'll have to put a deposit down before I get the VIN info. If there are a lot of miles on it, what's the next step? THANK YOU!
  • jillyrenejillyrene Member Posts: 33
Great. I'm calling this morning to put down a $500 deposit (required to get vehicle). I wanted to confirm that this is refundable in case anything goes wrong -- like they back down from the deal they agreed to.

I don't know why my brain is locking up here, but can you tell me what exactly the steps would be after this? I'll put the deposit down, they'll get the car and be able to fax me the VIN info, and then what?? Do I actually go to the dealership at this point? Should I not take possession of the vehicle on this same day? (I've heard you shouldn't, but don't know why). I guess I"m wondering if there are potential problems that could happen in the financing dept., where they could add something or sneak in some numbers. I got some other loan quotes from the internet, but I'm hoping to get better through Honda. I'm about an hour away from there, so leaving if something goes wrong isn't too bad, but I hope it doesn't have to get to that point!

You've given great advice, and I hope I'm not asking too much for specific details if you have them!

    Thank you!

Interesting... the new incentive of $3500 runs from July 5th through to Sept 4th. Maybe there will be a revival of low financing rates?

Moot point for me as I have already purchased... but interesting to see "how low will they go".

Last year Honda had the $3500 cash back and low financing.

Right now, they have the $3500 cash back.

I'm guessing they may add the low finance.

Has anyone here added either an aftermarket, third party DVD system on a Pilot with Nav?

How well it integrate with Stero system or controls?

Any advice on Pilot with Nav or Pilot with Res? I'd like to have both and was thinking of picking up with Nav then add DVD system later on.

    Thanks
  • trmend1trmend1 Member Posts: 59
Just my 2 cents about on-board Nav and RES...

Having a family of 3... ages ranging by 9 years... entertainment for my 3 year old ain't the same as my 12 year old and never shall the twain meet while they are still at home.. (I HOPE!). We have portable DVD players that are relatively cheap and can be stowed out of sight when not in use... and can be moved to whichever vehicle we are travelling long distances.

As for the NAV... again.. being onboard cannot be moved. Having a portable unit is nice to switch out between vehicles whoever needs it.

The Pilot comes with 4 electrical outlets. One in the dash (for the portable nav), 1 in the center console (for the phone or DVD), 1 in the second row center A/C unit console and 1 in the back cargo area. Plenty enough outlets to plug everything in!

I have gained so much bargaining power with the help of all the postings on this site. I didnot get the car for $28000 with AWD but I dont realy need AWD in Florida. I am very happy with the price that I got from Kuhn Honda in Tampa, I showed them the lowest quote and they dropped a couple of hundreds to beat the other dealer's offer and I had $25299 TTL + dealer fee ($27729 OTD). I picked Gray color (only one left), it looks so great.

I went to Hondaland two days earlier due to their ad stating that they will sell Pilot below wholesale prices. When I got there and realized that it was just a trap to get people in and sell you at higher price(I wasted 2 hours). I told them that this kind of tactics does not work anymore and it will backfire, because I will tell all of my friends not to waste time on them. Anyway, AVOID TAMPA HONDALAND if you want to save time and money.

so far the best quote for 4WD EX is $24500 plus fees and local dealers couldn't beat this price. but here are two issues:

    1. the dealer is about 140 miles away. is it good to buy it from this dealer? is it good to drive a new car immediately for 3 hours on the highway?

    2. the car he quoted is manufactured in Dec 2006. and it has 80 miles on it. I don't know why this car was not sold for 7 months. is there any potential risk for this car? how could I avoid this risk?

thanks very much for your suggestions

    Hi meetraajyahoo.com

At a minimum, you should be looking for a price of invoice minus $3500.

Take a look at open road honda in NJ. I bought my Pilot from there last year and got invoice minus $4200.

First of all thanks to all in this forum. This is great. I was ready to pull the trigger last month at $26000 for EX-AWD but decided to wait after reading this forum and the wait paid off :D . Finally pulled the trigger at $24500 (including dest) + TTL and registration, at David Michael Honda. Great experience, no pressure. BTW not much inventory left in the area.

Finance guy offered Honda care at 1595 which I turned down also he offered Basic maintenance for $504 for 3 years/36000 miles, which included a coupon for 250 off for next car purchase which does not interest me. I am not sure if that is a good deal to take or not.

BTW, does anyone have experience with Geico Multi-care program which is like extended warranty for 7 years/100000 miles for $38 per 6 months.

    Thanks again.

I just wanted to post some information which may be useful to anyone planning on buying from Boch in Norwood. It took four days but they discovered the problem with our brand new EX-L pilot. Supposedly the rear brake light box was loose and hitting the third row shoulder belt in the ceiling causing a short. Solution was to tighten the box and insulate with electrical tape. Went to pick up the car and the sales manager told me that they apologized for the problem and would guarantee if the problem happened again they would swap out the car for a new one. I asked for this in writing and they said they would draft it up and have the general manager sign it. Three days later I had not received any calls or emails. Sent a follow up email and was told the general manager was handling the issue personally. Next day I get a call from another general manager and told they can't provide guarantee in writing b/c dealers have been burned by such practices in the past. I question why the sales manager assured me this was going to be provided. RESPONSE was the manager didn't have authority and mis-spoke. Again here is an issue with the associates / managers promising things and later being told they messed up.

This dealership has no credibility with me. I would not recommend using them. In fact a fellow colleague received a lower quote from Boch by around $200 and went to Bernardi b/c he was treated much better.

This experience has ruined my new car experience. I will not shop at Boch again.

This is my first post... I'm just wondering if anybody can recommend a dealership in the Nashville area (or within 100 or so miles) that is willing to work a good deal on an 07 Pilot. I'm looking for either the EX or LX model and from what I've read I should be able to get invoice minus 3500.

    Thanks in advance!

'07 EX-L 4WD in Aberdeen Green. Had a little trouble finding the color as mostly they had gray ones in stock but a little looking got me the Aberdeen.

Paid $26,270 plus $299 dealer fee. Seemed like a good price to me after doing some homework.
