Any way for me to get close to that discount for the '07 V6 XLE, I live in Rosemead
  • waynethepainwaynethepain Member Posts: 31
No windnoise whatsoever on my new XLE. I was even afraid I would get a little noise on the freeway with the sunroof, because I had some on my '02 Camry -- but it is absolutely quiet. I actually was driving on the freeway yesterday -- and because of the lack of wind noise I didn't realize I was going 115 mph. I thought I was only going 85! -- It was crazy! Needless to say this car is decpetive in its speed -- and very quiet at high speeds...

How likely "The silverish plastic" will worn off? Can anyone from Toyota cares to reassure potential Camry buyers that Toyota stands for quality/durability and those "The silverish plastic" will NOT worn off?

    Thanks.

I just purchased a 2007 XLE V6 with heated front seats (HD), VSC/TC (VS), Mat set (CF), and spoiler (R7). Near Sacramento, CA.

Price $27,100. Plus all tax, lic and other misc charges. No trade-in. I just wanted to post the price I paid so other buyers can have a reference point - posts of other Camry prices would be helpful for future buyers.

Also, I almost bought Toyota extended warranty (7yr/100k mile, Gold package) for $1100. I found that you can get the warranty later and for a much better price. Check priuschat.com and search for "extended warranty" for some suggestions.

I had been stalking the Camry for about six months since I learned about the new model being released. I'm glad I waited. Its a great car so far.

Congrats! What color did you get? Does the remote have the option to roll down all 4 windows?
  • njeraldnjerald Member Posts: 689
Wow, I just bought the 84/100,000 zero deductible Platinum Plus for $880.00.

    It pays to shop around.

My Camry is quiet up to 75 mph (fastest I've taken it so far), and I have to be careful as I tend to drive 5 mph faster in town now because it is so quiet.
  • fsowirlesfsowirles Member Posts: 195
That's a great price. The dealer I am buying from wants $1120. Where did you get that price so the rest of us can take advantage?
  • fj40fj40 Member Posts: 3
Hanless Toyota in Davis. Just stick to your price and they will end up making you a good deal.
  • fj40fj40 Member Posts: 3
I got white - its a good color in the very hot and sunny central valley.

Our remote doesn't operate the power windows. :(

Wind noise in an Acura or Honda is normal at any speed as they are not a quiet car. Wind noise for a Toyota or Lexus is not normal as they are a much quieter set of vehicles than Honda or Acura. That has always been a knock against Honda, they just can't seem to build quiet cars!
  • wtliao321wtliao321 Member Posts: 35
I used to have '01 Accord Ex and '05 Accord EX-V6. The '01 Accord (last generation) was really noisy, but '05 Accord was much quieter and softer than its predecessor. Comparing to them, '07 Camry XLE V6 is quieter and comfortable.

In the beginning I didn't get used to the new 3.5L V6 engine whinny sound, and I do notice the wind noise over 70 mph on the highway, but it's not as loud as Accord. My 07 Camry has 800 miles and now becomes smoother, quieter, more sensitive to the acceleration. The new Camry is not a boring car to me anymore and I am really glad I bought this car.
  • waynethepainwaynethepain Member Posts: 31
I was quoted $1439 for Platinum coverage but talked them down to $1045 -- then $945 then $795. I showed them I paid $795 on my '02 Tundra (with 4X4 coverage)and asked for the same price. You really can wait until the warranty is almost up to extend it for a good price, but I decided to just tack it on to already decent rate through Toyota. Haggle away for those extended warranties!

The final quote on 07 LE with no options is $21595 OTD.
    I live in Inland Empire.
What thoughts are there as to how good this price is?

I've only visited one dealer. I don't want to go to another as I feel the whole process of buying a car is to stressful for me.
  • njeraldnjerald Member Posts: 689
What does OTD mean to you??

    with tax & License?

Shouldn't be stressful unless you make it so.

Decide what make, model and options: email or fax internet sales Mgrs. at area dealerships; decide which deal you want, let them know by email or phone; go to the dealership and be gone with the vehicle in 15-30 minutes.

I called a dealer recommended by Costco and she quoted me a price $200 below MSRP for costco members for XLE 4c. Do they have different costco member pricing for different regions. i live in chicago.
  • njeraldnjerald Member Posts: 689
    Not very good.

S/B from $300-800 over dealer invoice.
  • lzclzc Member Posts: 483
"OTD" means different things in different states--sales tax, license fees, etc. It's better to give the price for the car alone, or amount above invoice (if known) or below MSRP. That way everyone has a standard reference point.

Per above comment, yes, communicating with the Internet Sales Dept is generally an easier way of handling often pushy sales people. At some point, they'll want to talk to you on the telephone, but that's an easier situation to control than in a dealer's showroom. Good luck.

with Carpet (CF), bumper applique (EF), remote starter (V4). This's the invoice price in their shipment log book but it's still $310 higher than kbb.com or edmunds.com invoice. BTW, bought from Danvers, MA dealer.
  • waynethepainwaynethepain Member Posts: 31
I think Oldie1 means OTD -- "Out The Door"
  • waynethepainwaynethepain Member Posts: 31
The Toyota pricing on their website for Extended Warranty -- is listed at full retail. Everyone should be paying below the price listed on there. It is good for referencing though as to a starting point to haggle with if they quote you above that. I got them down to $795 on my V6 XLE going back and forth a few times.

    6. Posts about dealers
When posting about your experience with a dealership, you may post ONLY the dealership name, city, and state. You may not post a salesperson's name, phone numbers, email addresses, links to dealer web sites, etc.

Sorry, but I had to remove a post.
  • njeraldnjerald Member Posts: 689
    Toyota of Greenfield, MA

Can't give you the email address or name but you can find it with a search engine on the web.

Had my previous reply removed for a rules violation. Poor babies.

Thanks for those who gave me advice. I've e-mailed my local dealers, and it already looks like I can likely get whatever I want (even special ordered, if i wait 2-3 months) for ~300 dollars over dealer invoice.

I really like the look of the SE, if not for the cheap-looking black honeycomb material in the front, which bugs me a lot. I've yet to even see an SE on any lot, would also be nice to test out the different sport suspension in it. Thus my reason for probably going with the V6 LE.
  • njeraldnjerald Member Posts: 689
    GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

    You'll luv it.
  • petomlinpetomlin Member Posts: 103
Funny thing - the honeycomb grille on the SE is the reason I will look into one, when the time comes. The "slats" on the LE and XLE don't appeal to me at all.

I too, would like to know how the SE suspension feels in comparison to the LE/XLE. Anyone out there driven both?

    thanks

After 16 yrs in LE Camry's this Gen is very similar in ride quality to any other over the last 10 yrs.

However...the SE is entirely different with the brace behind the rear seat. I took a V6 SE onto a decending cloverleaf entrance to an Intersate entering at ~ 50 mph and accelerated all the way through exiting at ~70 mph. It was impressive.
  • oldie1oldie1 Member Posts: 3
Best I can figure is that the price for the car is $19846 plus Tax & License, which comes to 21595. I used Costco buying program, but that's best I can get them to low. They have told me they are selling these cars fast, which may be so, but I have a nagging thought that the price can be better.
    thanks for all the input.

    Test drove an '07 LE cloth,4cyl w/JBL, Sunroof, Alloys - 25-26k MSRP

I want to trade my Lemon '03 Accord V6 for either a white SE or LE sunroof, JBL, & alloys. After 4 years, I am done with the nausiating rough ride, squeaks, rattles, & transmission replacements.

Here is my opinion - -
    Likes:
    1. Smooth, quiet ride (did not observe wind noise)
    2. Exterior styling
    3. Fit & finish flawless
    4. MSRP now competitive w/Honda Accord

    Dislikes:
    1. Plasmacluster controls difficult to see in daylight (salesperson had a hard time turning the AC on)
    2. Dark interior only available on the SE. Light grey & light tan upholstery don't match the silver dash well.
    3. Black numbers on radio LCD look cheap.
    4. Auto trans seemed "confused" on a few downshifts.
    5. Some idling roughness when in park (I guess all 4cyl engines exhibit this characteristic, I usually buy V6's).

Overall, I think the '07 is a major improvement over the '06 model. This car will definitely steal more sales from Honda Accord. Some day Honda will wise up & learn the market like Toyota - build cars for everyone.

My local dealer has 5-07'Camry's for about 2 weeks now. The salesperson said they are discounting quite a bit right now. I am waiting to drive the SE before making a final decision.

Oldie 1, what is the MSRP of your vehicle and is it an auto? Do you happen to reside in CA? I may use Costco as well.

The price will probably be better in late May - specifically Memorial Day Weekend. Just let the inventory build up a bit, and the hype to die down a bit. Of course, if you need a vehicle today, the price seens pretty good. I just got a quote on a 2006 Accord LX sedan 4 with auto for $19,400 plus TTL, which is too high.

Yes, that Yaris is really fast.

Anyone on the forum have any experience with the *stability/traction control* option... or have thoughts on how advantageous it may be?

I live in the central plains.. we have some snow days in the winter, but not many. And of course we have some rain all year round too. :)
  • joecarnutjoecarnut Member Posts: 215
    oldie1,
I wouldn't doubt you could get an OTD price close to the before ttl price you just posted.
Just contact the internet department of Toyota dealers around so cal and I bet you'll save at least $1500.00.

I bet you tried Crown Toyota or San Bernardino. I never got any decent prices from them and got the old I'll match other dealers from Crown to get you at their dealership, but they really won't match.
Try Orange County or San Gabriel Valley areas on the internet. I have had some good luck with Claremont and Longo.

Also like tinatina mentioned, let the inventory build up first. They have only been out for 2-3 weeks or so. I don't think I've even seen a commercial for them except for the super bowl one.

Use the internet for quotes if you really want to avoid the stress.

And at some point they'll ask you to buy the car too! Which is no different than "pushy" sales people.

"Asking you to buy the car" doesn't come close to capturing what people mean when they complain about their car-buying experiences, although things may lightening up a bit from the "good old days." :D

An LE 4 cylinder with VSC, JBL, Power Moonroof, Alloys, and floormats is actually less expensive at MSRP than your post indicated: $24,279.

He could be in the SouthEast with the extra transportation and Administration charge.
  • kdhspyderkdhspyder Member Posts: 7,160
The Admin Fee is similar to the TDA fee in other regions.

    Similar, but higher.
Someone said there is information somewhere about how this private company got involved as some kind of "middleman" in Toyota sales and adds alot of overpriced junk that's allowed to be printed on the MSRP stickers rather than an addendum if you buy in that Southeastern region.
Look at KBB.com and you can see that the exact same port installed packages have much higher list prices in the Southeast region compared to anywhere else. Seems like a racket.

I drove the XLE & SE (several times for both)and ended up ordering the SE. If handling is what you are looking for - there is no comparison. (I actually owned a 93 Camry SE w/ v6 & 5 speed manual tranny - a very rare bird.) The XLE felt like an "old-man's car", while the SE was very responsive and even the seats are shaped differently to "hug" your back - as opposed to the rather flat seat back of the XLE. This was also noted in the mid-size review which I just read.
  • alpha01alpha01 Member Posts: 4,747
Ok, so for the rest of the country, a loaded up LE 4 5A is about $24.3K at MSRP....

  • waynethepainwaynethepain Member Posts: 31
Sounds like they do have different pricing. Be sure to let Costco know in their evaluation e-mail they'll send you. I guess all dealers are kind of different. I would ask the dealer to show you invoice vs. their price they quoted you. By using Costco they are supposed to show you the invoice list of their inventory along with a member's price (around 300-700 over invoice on average). If they didn't do that I would report it to Costco. Good luck!
  • kdhspyderkdhspyder Member Posts: 7,160
    Real briefly..

Jim Moran was an auto dealer in chicago I believe. When toyota first wanted to 'go national' he told them that he personally would put them in the Southeast. But in return he would have the exclusive distributorship for all Toyota's in the region..... if he performed as promised.

He has exceeded their expectations. He wasa just inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame last year. Every dealership must buy it's Toyota's from his company, SET.

Where does his profit come from? He's not in it for charity.. it's a for-profit business.
  • njeraldnjerald Member Posts: 689
A great reason to buy a state or two away if you live in the SE plus all the other added PIO coatings and crap in the SE.

The average age of a Honda Accord owner is 42
The average age of a Toyota Camry owner is 52
The overall average age of a Buick owner is 62

Is the Toyota Camry becoming a car for seniors?

Here is an interesting article below:

I just checked the dealer's website. They list the MSRP for $24,357 - maybe I confused the price with an LEV6 on the lot. I don't think the car has any dealer installed options.

However, the same car configured on Toyota's website is $23,430 with destination.

By the way, I am located in the NE and not SET.

I'm really attracted to the SE, but *really* dislike the tacked on underbody spoilers. It really seems to ruin a fairly clean design. What do you think the odds are they can be removed without leaving holes in the underlying bumper fascias?
