I think he meant his dealership only got IS350s with xenons.

They are just coming in now. You have to look for the Luxury Package (not the Premium Package).

Maybe right now, Lexus is only shipping the IS350 with the Luxury Package.

Bought an IS 250 Manual with sport package. Got it for 2 grand over cost. Was impressed with what the sport package did to the ride. (less body roll, better steering feel and those tires looks good too) The buying experience was top-notch. They were the first dealership to take a 23 year old seriously. Too bad I have to wait until June to get it.

Hi,

I am thinking of purchasing a new IS 250 with RWD Automatic. I live in Orange County, CA. I've dealt with
a few local dealers (internet managers) and so far I was quoted as below :

Lexus of Cerritos

$36,504 <-- IS 250 with Navigation
* offered $1,500 off *

Lexus of Westminster

$36,504 <-- IS 250 with Navigation
$33,954 <-- IS 250 with premiun package
* offered $1,200 off *

It is my first time purchasing a new vehicle and not sure
whether the above quotes are reasonable. Any inputs are
greatly appreciated.

I have the same issue with turtlish as I only want the
bi-xenon lights and according to the local dealers, Lexus
is only making the sports or luxury packages only with the
IS 350. The only available packages for the 250 are
navigation and premiun. Is this true?
I dont need navigation, all I want is the Xenon Lights!

A friend of mine advised that I should just get the basic
model and purchase an HID Kit (http://www.xenondepot.com/category.php?category_id=3)
It states that the IS 250 basic model has halogen light,
what is needed to convert them to HID? also, how safe is this? are the lights the round looking ones or are those
just standard bulb that I see on my honda accord?

Should I just wait until lexus ships with sports package or luxury package? I'm really into purchasing this
vehicle but without the HID lights, I do not see a luxury
view of his vehicle.

I apologize for all the questions and hope that someone can guide me to the right direction.

Thanks,

Jay

I was wondering what kind of deals people are getting in the Chicagoland area?

Also, is it possible to get the ML system without Nav? I'd love the ML, but don't really need or care to have the Nav at such a high cost option. It seems to me you could go to an after market installer and get Nav and a great sounding system for less money.

Has anyone also heard of any sport package models coming to Chicago?

I am in Dallas, TX and was wanting to see what I should pay for a Base IS250 (automatic).

MSRP:$31,750
TMV: $31,632
INV:$28,009
Dealer: $31,564

I want to get as close to Invoice as possible. Do you think this is possible?
• qs0922qs0922 Member Posts: 11
This sounds like the type of package that I'm looking for. How willing were the other dealerships in competing with that price?
• whofan67whofan67 Member Posts: 8
Right now... unlikely... the IS just came out and they have their initial demand. I'd wait til the 2007's are due out and the end of the 2006 model year. That way you be past the initial high demand that they will want to clear inventory for the new model year. I am going to wait til then to try and get a IS250 with the Mark Levinson/GPS system and the luxury package for 33,500 to 34,500.

got a deal today that the salesmen says is the best that has left his dealship....IS 250 AWD, 15K miles, 36 month lease, $4300, $420/month.........Is this a good deal or should I keep trying.....is there any truth that the deals get better the closer we get to the end of the month?
• intenceintence Member Posts: 32
To be brutally honest, the other dealership(s) weren't interested in even matching the price. Keep in mind that in the DFW area there are just 2 Sewell dealerships and 2 Park Place. Park Place in Grapevine (internet dept.) gave me a deal on the car, even though it wasn't set to arrive for a few weeks.

Sewell on the other hand wouldn't even come close, I tried working with their internet department (both locations), and also visited the dealership (Dallas location). They started playing the "let me go to the sales manager and see if he'll accept this" game. My initial offer to them was only $300 less than what Park Place offered. They came back and wanted to keep playing the "salesman/manager game" so I just walked out. I had also emailed dealers in Austin/Houston with little success.

I could get similar pricing out-of-state, but taking into considering the cost/time/potential problems, the deal that Park Place offered seemed pretty good given the current market conditions.
• intenceintence Member Posts: 32
Not right now. Remember that it's all supply/demand, for now, the dealers don't even have the car on the lot, so they've got the upper hand. Why should they sell it to you at or near invoice if someone else is willing to pay more?

Also, you won't find a base model IS in DFW right now. Go to Lexus.com and try to configure the car using your Zip Code. The lowest MSRP you'll get is $32,664 (Base + 18" Wheels + Preferred Accessory Package). I had a tough time finding a car that also didn't have the Premium Package (Wood Trim + Heated Seats @ ~$1300) added.

If you don't need the car immediately, wait a few months and supply WILL eventually catch up to demand. I think you could probably purchase the car for invoice + 2000 or invoice + 1500 if you're VERY lucky. You'll have a tough time in the Dallas area due to lack of competition, try contacting some dealerships on Florida (read through previous posts here) as there seem to be better deals over there.

kgk3, I am surprised that you could get that much movement given a new model with limited supply. How come you contacted the internet manager? How did you play them off one another? I am very interested in a IS250 AWD w/ premium. thanks in advance.

Just purchased an IS250 AWD three weeks ago. Sticker price was $35,069--only additional option was the trunk package. Dealer gave $1,500 off msrp. Of course, the car was on the lot, but I loved the color and thought the price was reasonable, given I called another local dealer and was told they wouldn't budge off the msrp. Told me to go to the other dealer if I did indeed receive such an offer. I did and I really love my new car.

Just purchased an IS250 AWD matador red, sterling interior. MSRP sticker $35069. Dealer gave $1800 off and I felt this was very reasonable. I absolutely love the car so far. Everything seemed to fall into place with the car on the lot. Made a phone offer based on another dealer's quote and they accepted. Funny thing was when I came to finalize the deal there was a couple eyeballing my vehicle and wanting to purchase it with a sold sticker on it. Timing is everything. Thanks to everyone in this forum for educating me about the IS and how to deal.
I truly appreciate your thoughts!

Hey congrats on ur purchase, I'm in North Jersey and would b willing to go to NY State, but where did you actually go?... Anywhere near Rockland?
• drhugsdrhugs Member Posts: 1
received the best deal at highland park lexus, although woodfield was pretty close--is250 auto, cargo & mats, awd navi-$35 + tax--2700 off list

the dealer with the least negotiating skills was bredemann in glenview--they are rather uppity and feel they do not need to negotiate. I called one last time to ask for a counteroffer, and they refused. I would definitely try highland park as they are as nice as can be, willing to negotiate, and very customer oriented.

after much calling and hassling, this is what I got:

IS250AWD BlueOnyx/Cashemere Standard Package plus the preferred accesories package (wheel locks, cargo net..)

INVOICE for IS 250AWD--> $30,758
MSRP for IS 250AWD--> 34,875
MY QUOTE--> $32,600 + TAX, TITLE, ETC
(Plus, a very nice sales rep)

INVOICE for IS 250RWD--> $29,758
MSRP for IS 250RWD--> $33,040
MY QUOTE--> $30,000 + TAX, TITLE, ETC
(Not such a nice rep)

Help I don't know what to do! Thanks I appreciate everyone's feedback :-)

I have been watching this forum and the prices of the IS 250 since before December. My local dealership wouldn't budge on the price, and was initially asking $600 over MSRP; I walked and waited.

Last week, I purchased and drove away the exact car I wanted, an IS 250 AWD w/ Nav, Luxury, Spoiler, and Preferred Accessories (MSRP 40,274), for $37,150, $150 in fees, and applicable state taxes.

For the record, I love the AWD in the snow, the Bluetooth works well with Verizon but does not allow phone book transfer, and overall, I love the car.

Good luck to all and thanks for the posts along the way.
• lbailylbaily Member Posts: 25
You have to decide whether you want RWD or AWD. Will you be driving the car in snow? If "yes" then get the AWD. If "no" or you have another vehicle to drive in the snow, then you still have to decide. Take them both on a long test drive. The acceleration will be the main difference.
• nitronycnitronyc Member Posts: 5
I bought the IS 250RWD in Blue Onyx... I loved it, the sales people ended up being very nice and accomodating so I felt satisfied with giving that dealer my money... I really don't need the AWD, though I live in the north east, I have an SUV and it's not like I get TOO packed with snow.. It's great I paid 30K + tax and a few other things they sneak in but I'm very happy with my purchase... Thanks to all of everyone's comments and advice, they helped very much.

I'll be sure to post my experience with the vehicle as time goes by.
• carnagcarnag Member Posts: 42
Wow that's pretty good $2700 off! I'm looking for a 350 with premium or sport package, no Nav. I'll definately try Highland Paek and Woodfield.

Thanks again, Carnag

I just got my IS 350 that I ordered back in December. I live in the Augusta, Georgia area with limited Lexus dealerships unless I want to drive to Atlanta. I ordered the 350 with the Luxury option and the Levinson/Nav option. It just came in last week. The dealer would not take even a single dollar off the sticker. They told me they had offers for more than the sticker by those who found the car in their inventory on the internet. I called Atlanta dealers and none of them have this same car and options. I'm a first time Lexus customer and I was overwhelmed by the excellent buying experience. The car is absolutely amazing to say the least even though I paid sticker for it. This is the first time I have EVER paid sticker for a car. Once I got in it, I was just happy they didn't sell my order to a higher bidder! Best car I have ever been in by far! Oh, the sticker came out at about $44,259 which is what it priced at on the internet when I built it. The only thing the dealer did was give me some free cokes and then added about $500 to the original offer for my 2003 Acura TL Type-S that we traded.

I just purchased a IS250 AWD with standard package for $32290 plus taxes in Glacier Mist. Sales people were excellent. Love the car. It is a show stopper as I have had several people stop and look at it.

Looking to lease and have some flexibility as to where, either the Chicago area or in the Carolinas. Was quoted $500/month for a 36 month, 15K/year lease on a Nav w/ML premium sound system with $3K down. Is this a good deal, can I get it for less?
• osu8ballosu8ball Member Posts: 3
I contacted a local dealership over the phone to ask them if they had a black on black IS 250 Manual. Well they didn't but said they could get one in next week. I asked the sales person where that dealership was and he refuses to tell me...and he even told me it was because he doesn't want me to contact them. Can they do this? I could possibly save a lot of money by going directly through this other dealership.

Is there a way to find out where this car is and not call every dealership in the nation?

Many Thanks

Every dealer is a private business.. They are certainly under no obligation to help you buy the car elsewhere.

There really aren't that many Lexus dealers.. Assuming the car exists (and there is no guarantee of that), try the dealerships within 100 miles of where you live.. That wouldn't take long..

I used this forum a lot before making my IS250 purchase today - thought I'd share the results with everyone. I think we did ok - an automatic IS250 RWD w/ 18" wheels (summer tires) and the Premium package (no navigation) for $30,100 + tax & fees. Purchased from a california, bay area dealer.

A few notes:

- was very impressed with all the lexus sales staff. Originally test drove the IS250 at Putnam....the sales consultant (new guy) was very open and helpful. Would have gladly purchased from him, but the dealership only had 2 IS250s left in stock with configurations that were different than what I was looking for. (For anyone else looking to buy, Putnam was expecting more 250s in this week).

- IS250s are in demand. Of the 4 dealerships I drove to, one had no stock, one had 2 IS250s, one had a around 5 IS250s, and one had around 12.

- I paid for the car outright; picked an in-stock vehicle; no dealer financing; I think that may have helped improve my price.

- I'm very happy with the purchase. I had originally been considering lower-cost alternatives. I'm surprised to say, I have no buyers remorse - which is uncommon for me. The more I explore the IS250, the more I'm enjoying it. Check out the great turning radius!

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this forum...it made my purchasing decision much easier.

I just bought an IS 250 with Navigation (MSRP $36,504) for $33,791. That is $1,500 over dealer invoice and about $2,700 less than MSRP at Putnam Lexus in Redwood City, Ca. I was told by Steven's Creek Lexus (San Jose) and Serramonte Lexus (Colma) that they would accept $3,000 less than MSRP for the Smokey Granite (supposedly the most desirable color) but I wanted the Blue Onyx so I paid about $300 more. I hope someone reading this uses this information to get a better deal. email me if you do

OSU8ball: Update your profile with your email address and I will let you know where and with whom it's located. I know because they allocated the car to arrive this weekend, but I went with a special order. I assume you are in OH.

Aloha,

Interested in comments regarding prices paid to the only Lexus dealer in Hawaii, Servco Lexus.

Were you able to negotiate for less than MSRP? If yes, how much and what other considerations did you offer for the lower price?

Mahalo. :)

Hi ckletter:

Thanks for the info. I am living in the South Bay and am looking for a IS 250 w/ navigation and premium ($36,504) at the steven's creek, colma, and putnam dealerships. I have been requesting quotes online and so far have only been able to get quotes ranging from $34,394 - #34,804.

In particular, I was wondering if you could go over more extensively your process of negotiating with the Stevens Creek, Colma, and Putnam dealerships.
- Did you negotatiate most of the deal/price by email?
- What quotes did you get from them?
- What price did you offer them when you went into the dealership?
- Did you ask the dealerships to match the prices with each other?
- In addition, did you use the $300 off coupon they are offering at Putnam Lexus?

Sorry for all the questions, but it would be very helpful if you could give me as much detail as possible.

If anyone else has any quotes and or negotiating input, that would be helpful as well.

Thanks!
- c

sailing216,
Thanks for your response. I think I found it today at the Cincinnati Dealership, well at least he said they had a black on black there. Were you originally going purchase this specific car? What did you end up getting? What kind of price were they quoting you and at what dealership?? and yes I am in Ohio

Thanks

Sailing,

I was told that if I special order I'd have to pay for the car up front. Is that correct? That doesn't make any sense to me. I thought that you were supposed to pay/finance when the car arrives.

Thanks,
• acco20acco20 Member Posts: 211
Pay up front?????????????? If you are kidding ,,,,hahaha....otherwise,,,do not even consider it....IMHO...
• raven_sevenraven_seven Member Posts: 12
I thought that was funny too, but I thought I’d check here anyway. He also gave me the option to put down a $5000 deposit if the found the car I want in other dealerships (a bit high).

I wish car sales people realized how badly they make themselves look when they try to pull BS like that. The internet has been used by the masses for well over 15 years now. Don't they realize that there is a very strong car buyer network online were we're constantly exchanging ideas and knowledge?

I think he may want to show my sale before the end of the quarter. They must be pulling for good quarter-end results.
• sailing216sailing216 Member Posts: 98
Wow, walk, no run out of that dealership. I was asked to put $500 down to order what I wanted which is standard and fully refundable which I made known. I gave them my credit card number over the phone and asked to verify the amount by faxing me a reciept, and they said it was just a good faith gesture and that I wouldn't be charged. Allocation is free, they just swap cars.

Find another dealership, or call the manager and ask to deal with a different salesperson that will show you what the lexus experience is about. Heck, some dealerships have manicure and a massage room that the wife can schedule while getting some work done. I always test drove the range of cars with the wife only, no salesman in the car. Very relaxed environment...at least it's supposed to be.
• kmich71kmich71 Member Posts: 5
Thanks to all for the info posted in this message board, it was a HUGE help and I’m glad I stumbled across it. My wife was looking at an IS 250 AWD and the 3 dealers we went to (and the 3 we called on the phone) last week all said they weren't going to budge more than a few hundred off sticker. After coming across this message board and doing some research, I think we got a pretty good deal and just purchased the new car tonight.

That being said, I wanted to return the favor and if my info can help anyone else out, then good for you. Pay it Forward, you know :o)

We got an IS 250, AWD, Nav, Luxury Package, Black on Black.

Last week, right out of the gate, the Schaumburg Lexus internet manager offered $2000+ off and said he'd come down more if we came in.

Then after some further research, we determined we'd offer $36,500 for the car.

Naperville Lexus (where we wanted to buy it because it is 10 min from our house) said he wasn't going to meet our price and said to buy it elsewhere if we were going to get that great of a deal. Didn’t even want to counter offer. I don’t think he thought we were serious.

Then we called McGrath Lexus in Westmont and took our price to the sales manager there (not the salesperson we talked to last week when we were there). He countered with $36,878 and he said he couldn't do any less than that. Plus he had the car on the lot.

From reviewing the posts on this board, I think we did pretty good, but it was still feel like we got screwed. McGrath was the most aggressive in trying to meet our price. The sales manager was great to work and the Delivery Assistant who showed us how to use all the features was tremendous.

Sticker Price: $39,919
Purchase Price: $36,878
Invoice Price: $35,378 (Edmunds showed a lower invoice price, but we called 2 dealers and both gave us this amount as the actual invoice)

Net/net $3041 off of sticker ($1500 over invoice).

Good luck and hope this helps... :)

This is my first post, but I feel compelled to post this info. I just picked up my IS350 on Monday from Wilke Lexus in Haverford PA. It's the end of the month and must be the end of the quarter also. I was given a no haggggle price of aprox, 3800 off of MSRP. I leased with $1333 down and my monthly is $585. 12/36.
After calling 7 dealers in the tri-state area and only finding 2 available 350s in stock, I jumped on this deal.
They currently have 2 in stock a white one and a black one. Not sure of the options, but the GM is willing to deal due to the timing. This shocked me due to the unavailability of the 350s on the east coast.
If you are looking for a 350 it would be worth a phone call. As far as the car. I came from an audi TT so the handling is marginal at best, but the engine is so sweet..
The bluetooth works flawlessly and the NAV is one of the best. I love the looks of the car, and chose it over the 330. Very smooth and just oozes quality.

How's it going all? I live in the Los Angeles area and I am looking to purchase an IS in the next month. I was deciding on whether or not to get the 250 or 350 and I was hoping that some of you who already have the car could help me out. I tried to test drive the 350 at one dealership, but the salesman passed me off as a college kid. I've done pretty well for myself in the mortgage business, and I'm probably going to buy the car with cash, but I wanted to know if it was possible to get a decent rate on the 350's. If I'm going to get bilked, I'll just settle for the 250. Thanks for your help, and any comments or suggestions on how to negotiate with the dealers would be greatly appreciated!

Picked up an IS250 recently, thought I'd share some info hoping it may benefit someone. I was looking at the Nav/PremiumPack/18in wheels (36500 MSRP). No financing/no trade/End of the Month/Only Cars on the lot.

Lexus Mission Viejo and Tustin Lexus (or is it Newport Beach Lexus?) both said they'd sell for 3000 off MSRP (selling price of 33500). Lexus Carlsbad didn't seem at all interested. Kearny Mesa Lexus in San Diego said they'd do it for 33800 and guarantee in writing a free sirius receiver + install + 9 mnths free service as soon as they become available (summer). I purchased in San Diego because of the price+sirius, they were extremely up front and professional with me, as well it was close to my house.

Seems most places have plenty of the IS250s in stock now around San Diego/ Orange County and they're willing to deal if you shop around and are prepared to walk out of a few deals first :)

Hi,

I have read thru this particular forum, as I plan on purchasing an IS250 the end of June (end of the quarter).

What I am a bit unclear on is the process with which you deal with the internet manager; do you first ask for an on line quote, or just call several dealerships and ask for that individual?

Also, I assume I should have the specific car (options, accessories, colors, etc) spec'ed out with MSRP and invoice pricing......

What next?

Thanks,
Allen

So far VWCrusher, I am dealing with 5 dealerships looking for the car that "I" want. I mocked up the car that I want, 350 with LT & VN packages, and emailed them all, INDIVIDUALLY.
Once I got replies from them, I THEN replied to ALL of them "collectively" letting them all know that I AM shopping dealers. Once you do that, THEY start getting seriously competitive. He, the internet manager, will call YOU, if he is serious about selling. Have your car together, when you DO so choose to contact them. I am dealing with dealerships in Plano, TX, Houston, TX, New Orleans, LA; Shreveport, LA; Atlanta, GA; and Baton Rouge, LA.
Let me know how YOU turn out. I love this forum action. :)
• jimcarrelljimcarrell Member Posts: 2
OK,... What is THE "Low-Ball" price that you people are seeing for the 350 with LT & VN packaging? I am getting a feedback of 41,335. Is THIS about right? I think that the dealers SHOULD be paying VERY close to THIS forum.
• vwcrushervwcrusher Member Posts: 15
Thanks for the reply, Jim.

Ok, so you really must have the optional equipment chosen, even though they have cars on the lot that come close, but perhaps not have everything I want (or perhaps more than I want)? For instance, I would like Nav, but its not a deal-breaker - how do you deal with this?

I just bought a special ordered IS250RWD, Nav, Luxury package. Bought it from Watertown and will have to wait 6-8 weeks for delivery. So you can special order.

$36,878 is a great deal for IS250 AWD, Nav and Luxury. I had to pay $37,100 which I thought was pretty good for the NE region. I got the headlight washers as well and had to special order as there were none around.

I also found the same invoice and stickers as you.
