Can someone give me an opinion on the deal I took on a 2015 A3 Quattro Premium Plus? Thanks in advance.

    2015 A3 Premium Plus.
    3 year / 36,000
38326.01 gross cap. cost - this includes $810 Audi Care.
$0 down. Nothing paid at signing.
Audi picked up first month payment.
Audi paid the final four payments on my VW GTI lease and took it into their sister VW dealership at ($433 a month on that lease.)

    $537/month.

The money factor they gave me was 0.00153 which seemed a little high but at that time the January numbers weren't available to me and Audi has always had slightly high money factors.

This is what i was quoted today on a a3 premium quattro. The MF seems higher than what i am seeing on here. Does this look like a decent deal ?

Base MF is .00097 and residual is 61% for 36mo, 10K/yr.

What is the MSRP? What else is in the CAP cost besides the selling price? Tax? Acquisition fee?

    MSRP is 35,640
Sales price is 34,600 + 695 acquisition fee.
They said our tax rate was included in the lease number, its 7%.

At the base rate of .00097, I get $431+tax (which is pretty close)

At .00120 MF, it would be $13/mo. higher..

My only real comment is 3% is a pretty puny discount from MSRP. Though, it looks like they haven't tried to gouge you anywhere else, so that's a positive.

    What is the MSRP?

.00097 and 57% are the numbers for the Quattro Premium Plus; add 1% for AudiCare. Your dealer is marking up the MF for extra profit.

It's also possible that the trade gave the dealer an opportunity to build some extra profit into the deal as well - $1600 works out to $44/mo over 36 months.

The MSRP off of the window sticker was $37,225.

This does not include any additional taxes or fees. Only the MSRP of the car.

With the MSRP and net cap cost you've provided, along with the base MF and residual, I get a payment of $532.97+tax.

So based on my net cap cost (which according to the dealer was slightly lower than the $35,059 invoice pricing before taxes, fees, Audi Care...) I got a fair to good deal? I am considering getting a Q3 from the same dealer and want to be sure they were square with me on this deal. Also, the payment of $537 I indicated included tax.

If the $537/mo is with tax, then you got a pretty good deal.

Just a few general questions - new to the leasing game and looking at a 2015 Audi A3 2.0T Quattro - Premium.
    - Does AFS all use the same MF and residual regardless of location?
    - If so, how often are the numbers released. Monthly? Weekly? Daily?
    - A lot of people here are asking for MF, but are not supplying credit score. Are the figures being given making any assumptions in terms of credit.
    - Related to above - does AFS use FICO, and as you move down in tiers, is there a general markup rate one can use to predict markup in MF?
    - By referencing a MF/Residual on this forum, this puts the consumer in a good position to compare what a dealer has offered them, correct? If you know the base, you can assume they have marked up the MF if yours comes in higher.

Finally - Anyone who has leased an A3 or similar car. What is the best "order of business" for negotiating. First I would assume is price, then down payment, then terms. But I could be wrong. I have always bought in the past, so I try to get the price as low as possible before I even discuss what I am putting down/borrowing. No need to go crazy, just looking for a quick general guide for anyone who has been to an Audi dealer lately.

    Thanks!

While I am at it ; Can anyone please provide me with: Current MF/Residual for 2015 A3 2.0T Premium Quattro - Cold Weather package, $550 color option. Chicagoland ( if it matters)

First, the numbers - .00097 MF and 58% for 36 months, 15,000 miles per year.

    Next, your questions -

    The Audi numbers are national.

The numbers are usually updated monthly, though the current numbers are valid from 1/9/15 through 4/1/15.

The numbers we quote are for top tier credit.

Yes, there are tiers based on the FICO score - I don't have the number ranges, but tier B is top tier plus .0004, tier C is plus .00065, and tier D is plus .00075.

This information is to help keep the dealer honest. They are allowed to mark up the MF for extra profit; your job is to use the information provided to prevent that.

Yes, negotiate the best selling price first, then determine what up front monies you want to pay (first payment + acquisition fee + dealer fee + tags/license usually). We do not recommend any sort of cap cost reduction (aka down payment). Dealers will try to confuse you with the lease numbers and payments they present. Just break the deal down into individual components and take your time.

Thank you very much Michaell! Very informative and concise.

In general, will MF fluctuate based on mileage in predictable amounts like residual will? Are the residual increments proportional. (15k vs 12k) And if dealers can increase MF for profit, can they alter residual without a change in mileage. In other words, for an otherwise equal car, what alters residual % other than mileage?

This is getting rid of a lot of my guess work in my projections, so thanks again very helpful!

Your first month payment, acquisition fee, TTL, and dealer fees are not part of a cap cost reduction correct? Just an amount due at signing.

It is my understanding that sales tax can be part of the due at signing amount and paid up front, OR built into the financing/Net Cap Cost.

MF does not change based on mileage.

Residual is set by the bank and cannot be modified by the dealer. Only mileage affects the residual.

Cap cost reduction is different than the up front costs of a lease. Amount due at signing includes those items you mention.

Sales tax obligations vary by state - some tax the monthly payment (here in Colorado, for example), other states calculate the sales tax for the entire lease up front (NY, NJ) - these can either be paid at lease inception or rolled into the cap cost. Other states (TX, MD, GA) assess sales tax against the entire selling price.

IL just switched over to the taxing lease only, 2014 and prev they did the entire sale price. So I am glad I chose 2015 to be my time to buy.

On the same car, what are the residuals for 12 and 10k?

I think that concludes all my questions. Thanks again, I will be watching this forum up until I buy.

The MF and residual are spot on. Using your MSRP and "total price" (inclusive of taxes and fees), I get a payment of $413.62. If you are rolling the tax into the cap cost, I'm not sure where the dealer gets the $430/mo payment from.

i'm not sure on that either. i hammered away for 10 days to try to lower the price and was told this is absolutely it, and the other dealerships I called said they couldn't get close to $0 down $430/month, so I think I may have to be satisfied with this?

Ask them to give you the net cap cost, and how they calculated it - there might be a fee hidden in there that is causing the discrepancy in the payment ($576, give or take).

Ok, I received a more detailed quote, and the explanation that the acquisition fee wasn't on that sales sheet. This is the current deal:

    Cap Cost $31278
    Acq. fee $695
    Rolled driver off $569

    License fees $135
    Documentation fee $399
    Gov fees $35

    FIrst payment $430
    ROlled to cap (-) $569

    Total cap cost: $32482
    Rebate $500
Net cap cost $32482 (not sure why this is the same as total cap cost)

    Net residual (-) $19215.40
    Residual % 58
    Total depreciation $13266

    Money factor .0007
    Monthly rent $36.19
    Monthly depreciation $368.52
    Sales tax (MA 6.25) 25.29
    Total payment $430
First payment included in lease thus $0 total out of pocket drive off

ok good, seems like a good deal in that other dealerships have said they can't get that low on this car, and costs are apparently not being hidden anywhere.

The $1163 works out to an additional $32/mo, so your true payment is closer to $370/mo. Still pretty good for a $38K sticker price.

    Enjoy the car!

I have 2 deals on table in PA (outside of Philly)

A3 2.0 AWD (cold weather package)
    MSRP 34,400
    1843.00 total out of pocket
377.00 (includes tax) 36mo/12k per year

A3 1.8 FWD (cold weather package)
    MSRP 31,475
    1843.00 total out of pocket
349.00 (includes tax) 36mo/12k per year

Do either of these look good? Its for my wife, so I doubt she'll notice the engine....but perhaps AWD would be safer for her.

    Thanks in advance!

The two deals are comparable.. Tax in Philly is 10% on leases, right? That's a better deal than I would expect.. If the car is equipped the way you want at that price, then go for it.

If it's my money, I get the AWD model.. if you are going FWD, you might as well go with a Jetta or an Accord..

Extra 3% tax on leases in PA, so if you have a 6% rate, the lease rate is 9%.

Basically, is this a good deal for the AWD? At that rate, is he discounting the 34,400 enough? My goal was 1800 out of pocket and $350 a month (with tax) for 36 months on an AWD. I am coming out of VW lease and have had a VW/Audi for the last 5 cars (15 years). Also, Im a Re/Max agent and he said I get some discount for that.

Really looking for good deal, or wifey gets a Jetta!

njtech77 - that is a nice bump down from MSRP. I would love to get a premium with those options.

Received an offer last night, and would like you guys to see if you get to the same undisclosed NCC I did.

    '13 A3 Premium Quattro - MSRP of 36,195
    Selling price: 34,128
    Residual/MF: 60% / .00097
    36mo/12k
IL Sales tax rolled into Loan (7%)
750 Due at signing. (supposedly no Acq fee per salesman, and 359 of that 720 is a downpayment)

They arrive at a monthyl payment of 464. Which seems high to me based on all calcs I have done. My guess is they are adding fees to bump of Net Cap Cost.

    Thoughts?

I would ask for the net cap cost and an explanation of how the dealer calculated that number.

I was under the impression that IL is now taxing the monthly payment, not calculating tax up front.

Base MF, so that's a plus.

IL is doing that now, yes. So it sounds like they might be computing tax, adding it to NCC, and then still computing the payments. Essentially masking extra profit for them as tax? I dont want to accuse them of anything without knowing for sure first.

Or they are charging me ACQ fee, audi care, and other add-ons without me seeing it. I have asked them for the NCC and how they got to their number. Using some rough calcs, I was coming to a 36, or 38k NCC depending on how they are treating the tax. Either way, kind of a let down.

You'll have to ask them what's being added into the NCC - normally, the acquisition fee, first payment and any dealer or DMV fees are paid up front.

Check with a second Audi dealer to see how they calculate the NCC.
