    Thanks for the trade in tip. This is Chicago area. This is actually a 2015 MB350+ Premium package 1+ Heated Steering+ lighting package+keyless go added. I also looked at a ML250 Blutec which is priced at 56500. Is MF same for 250 as well?

    How do I convince the dealer to give me base MF? any tips?

    Hi,
    I have been quoted the following
    Vehicle price = 58045
    Selling price = 53500
    Trade in = 7500
    Cost = 46000
    Tax 3990
    MF = .0144
    Residual 55%

    Monthly 593 with trade in or 447 with 5K down+trade in

    Is this a good deal?

    No.

    Base MF for the ML350 is .00099, so the dealer is marking that up on you.

    We absolutely do not recommend using trade equity or down payment to lower your payment .. if the vehicle is stolen or totaled during the lease, you lose that money.

    Is this Texas, Georgia or Maryland? Those are the only states I know of that tax the entire selling price and make you pay it up front (or add it into the cap cost).

    Using the base MF and a net cap cost of $57,490, I get a payment of $799/mo. You might be able to shave more off the selling price.

    MF on the BlueTec is much higher ... standard MF of between .00180 and .00220 is used.

    Tell the dealer - politely but firmly - that you won't sign a deal with an inflated MF. They know what it is - no need to negotiate.

    IL taxes the monthly payment, so I'm not sure I understand the line item with the full tax amount. Confirm with the dealer about that as well.

    It looks like ML250 has higher residual. Does it mean ML250 is a better deal to lease than ML350?

    My understanding is that the main difference between a ML250 and ML350 is the engine. All other are the same or very similar. Correct?

    Thanks!

    The money factor on the 250 is about double the MF on the 350. Given similar MSRPs and selling prices, the 250 will be a little more per month.

    I have been quoted the following on an ML350
    Vehicle MSRP = 62,205
    Selling price = 56,117 (9.8% reduction)
    MF = .00099
    Residual 55%
    Rolling sales tax of 4% into monthly lease payment
    Dealer quoted me $814 per month. Using my spreadsheet I get a payment of $757. Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks.

    I get $726/mo with those numbers. Confirm the net cap cost - I suspect it's different than the selling price. If so, find out why.

    Thanks.

    I get $726/mo with those numbers. Confirm the net cap cost - I suspect it's different than the selling price. If so, find out why.

    They are adding the 4.1% sales tax on the selling price (4.1% * 56,117) into the cap cost along with $1095 acquisition fee. If I do it that way, the monthly fee comes out to around $810. Is that the proper way to deal with sales tax or should it be calculated on the monthly lease payment? If I calculate the sales tax on the monthly lease payment, the total is much lower ($726 vs $810).

    Thanks for the help.

    Yes... I believe VA taxes the full selling price. You can pay it upfront, or roll it into the CAP cost. While you may incur some minor extra finance charges, I like rolling it in. If your vehicle is totaled early in the lease, GAP insurance will pay off your balance. But, if you paid those taxes upfront, the state is not going to rebate them.

    Also, the $1095 acquisition fee is marked up from the base $795.

    Hi Guys, Thanks for all the support. I am about to pull the plug on this deal. Let me know if this is a good deal or not.
    2015 ML 250 Bluetec + Premium Package+ Keyless Go + 19 in 5 Spoke Alloy + Trailer Hitch
    MSRP $56900
    Sale price - $49,600 (Includes $4k rebate)
    I have two options
    1) Lease - With a Trade in value of $7500, MF: 0.00213, Residual :58% - Monthly= $505 incl taxes
    2) Outright purchase , I have $7500 trade in value + $7500 Down payment + 1.99 APR on 60 months.

    Can you please let me know which is the best option. I know using trade in value in lease is a bad thing but keeping aside that, IS lease a better option or buying a better option?

    thanks

    It depends on how long you plan to keep the car. Putting $15,000 down on purchase makes sense; putting $7500 down on a lease does not.

    Thanks, Yes I want to keep this car long time, Inside of me, I am even contemplating to buy the car even after the lease unless I run into major issues with the model.
    So I guess I am going to make this purchase.

    What do you think of sale price? Is it a decent price or Can I negotiate further down. The car as about 200 miles in it, Still new , I think those were the result of all the test drives..

    I just heard back from the dealership with the following deal:

    MSRP = $57,090
    Selling price = $50,500
    Cap cost = $52,267
    Residual = $31,405.25
    Money factor = .00135

    $726.15 due at delivery
    $725.15 monthly payment
    Includes tax, license, acquisition and doc

    I'm just learning about the info behind a lease so I'm still a bit confused. I see the MF is off.

    You can politely explain to them that you won't sign a deal that includes an inflated MF. They know what the base rate is.

    I just signed my 36 month lease 2 weeks  ago on a 2015 ML350 AWD 4MATIC with MSRP of $61,115.  Above are the details from my contract, which includes 3 years free maintenance.  I did, however, sign up for low mileage of 7,500 per year and walk out fee was $7k, including $5,500 down + $1,500 for first month payment, tax, license, etc. My monthly payment, including tax will be $531.66;  MF is .000864 and residual 56% = $35,476. I live in California and sales tax is 9.5% for my location. I understand you should minimize putting down payment, but I have a monthly target budget that I was shooting for and considered the down to achieve that target. If I put zero down, this deal translates to $684/month including tax.

     This was my first time doing a lease and I did tons of research and negotiated with numerous dealerships until I got the best rate.  I am hoping I got a good deal.  My friend, who has done leases in the past said I did pretty good.  I am loving my ML! I hope this helps.

    Standard money factor (.0022 looks about right) and 48% residual for 48/15. (57% for 36/15).

    Any word on MFs/Residuals on the GLE's coming this month. GLE350 and 300d rates and residuals for 36/12 would be greatly appreciated. See what leases better. I assume the programs on the GLE Coupe won't be strong?

    350: .00104 MF and 56% residual
    300d: Standard MF and 60% residual

    GLE450 coupe numbers aren't as good, but not a lot worse than the 350... The higher sticker price is where most of the extra money will come in.

    Hello,

    This will be my first time leasing.  Learned a great deal read through this thread but still want to check in with you experts to make sure I got a good quote.  Below is what I was quoted:

    2015 ML350 4matic
    MSRP Window Sticker Price $62,715
    Your Discounted Selling Price $54,584
    36 month lease
    10,000 miles per year (56% residual)
    $795 acq fwe
    0.00099 buy rate money factor
    0.00099 sell rate money factor for your deal (no mark up to structure the
    lowest lease possible)
    $1,283.71 minimum drive-offs (includes your first month's payment, tax,
    license, dmv reg. fees, etc.)
    $704.56 total monthly payment including tax (using OC tax rate)

    Still working on lowering the selling price to lower my monthly payment.  Thanks in advance!

    Not sure of the tax rate, but if I use 9%, I get a payment of $686/mo with those numbers.

    Thanks for the reply.  OC tax rate is actually 8%.  I wonder where the extra charge is coming from...

    Ask the dealer for the net cap cost; I'm sure it's higher than the selling price you've been quoted. Ask them to explain why that is.

    Hi Michaell,

    If you have time, can you give me the breakdown on the lease number you came up with.  Thank you.

    There are lots of lease calculators available on the web; here is a good article from Edmunds that shows you how to build your own:

    Thanks! By the way, is the residual value based on the MSRP or the selling price? I am getting two different answers. That will be a deciding factor for me to lease or buy. Thanks in advance.

    The residual value in a lease is always based on the bottom line number of the window sticker - base price + options + destination.
