Might the Wagoneer have been the last vehicle sold in the US with a carb (1991)?

That and 5.8 L versions of the Crown Victoria.

I think some Isuzu pickups had carbs until maybe 1993 or so as well.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 54,016
the Mazda PU had one also, I think into the 90s. I know it did when I was shopping them, but I forget which MY they switched.

My '92 B2200 was carbed. But I seem to recall reading that FI was an option.

    '11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S

the 2200 was a carb. the 2600 had FI. Back when I was looking (around 1991)

Later than that, I will guess 1987-88 ish.

You're both early, it's a 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer from the last yr of production. They're supposed to bring out a new GW soon. Seems like they should have done that sooner. IMO the Wagoneers did as much to popularize the big SUV as anything.

With those rear windows it's a Bora, either with Euro-spec bumpers or a '71-'72.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 54,016
I always get those 2 confused. I knew it had to be one of them. Looks like I guessed wrong!

The Bora and the Merak are very similar looking but the Merak features open butresses in place of the glassed-in fastback of the Bora (a clever way to save the bill for a restyle!).

Both are named for Mediterranean winds that blow North from Africa to Europe.

Maybe a goldish/brownish/whateverish 66 Chevy 2 dr sedan by the rest rooms (probably had the restroom keys on one of those big, long pieces of wood)

The keys for the gas pumps at the Fort Lewis motor pool were attached to a piece of aluminum 2 feet X 3 feet. None of us ever accidentally walked away with them.

Yep, Brava, would have been pretty new. I wonder if it lasted a decade.

3 other cars still need ID.

Mid 70's Impala or Caprice on the left.

    Ubiquitous VW Bug.

And, behind the VW, is an indeterminate Japanese station wagon. Corolla or 510?

'54 Olds 98 -- I just looked one over for a guy last week prior to his bidding on it. Good thing, too--pretty decent car, clean, quite impressive but top didn't go up, timing chain rattled like crazy, radio NG, power seat NG, oil pressure gauge NG, some holes in the exhaust system, power brake booster suspect (hard pedal).

I wonder why people with such a nice car wouldn't bother to spend the money to fix it?

I rather like the '55s grillework better.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,682
Well the script on the fender sez it's a Starfire, is that a subset of the '98?

Yes, it's on a 98 platform. Far as I know, the "Starfire" applies only to the convertible.

    60 Olds behind pickup

Looks like a 57 Nomad in front of the "Patrol" wagon on what appears to be period CA plates.

    Morris Minor on the left?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,682
Yup, that is a Morris Minor 1000 the only import in the scene. No way to determine MY.

Looks like it to me but I'm not sure that's a p/u. The dark car furthest from camera could be a '58 Chevy as well.

I make the yellow one out to be a '58 Pontiac. Anyone else want to weigh in?

You may very well be right on the yellow one being a 58 Pontiac. Glare makes it hard for my tired old eyes, but appears to have single (oval) parking lights instead of the little round duals on the 58 Chevy.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,682
Can't tell what the yellow car is, I could go either way. Anyone got a good idea whether the '53/4 MoPar wagon marked "Echol's Patrol" is a Dodge, Plymouth or DeSoto?
