    Hi,

I have been using this site for a number of years to get guidelines on pricing for cars that I buy. Based on various deals I have seen and learnt on this thread, I got the following deal.

    NorCal Bay area dealer
Deal on Jan 2, 2018 (last day of Merc winter event)
    2018 E300 RWD with P1 package
    MSRP $59,315
    Negotiated price $47,697
Acq fee: $1,095 (he charged $300 more than the minimum)
    Leased car for 36/12K
Payment at signing $7000 ($5500 is refunded at end of lease = 10 MSD)
    Monthly payment including taxes: $455.23 ($416.69 + $38.54 taxes)

    Did not purchase prepaid maintenance.
Discount included $2,000 United Premier incentive.

Hope this helps other buyers like others have helped me.

    Hi all,

I am looking at a 2018 E400 coupe that’s a loaner with 2,500 miles on it. Can the experts take a look at this pricing and let me know if this is a good deal or I should shoot for more? Is 8.2K a good enough discount for a loaner with miles on it? I am getting offers for new coupes for $7K but the lease payments are coming out to be higher (I’m guessing due to additional fees).

This is in the bay area, if that helps.

    MSRP: $71,210
    Sales price: $62,981
    Residual: .56
    Cash (drive off): 5,000
    Rebate: 0
    Govt Fees: 745.75
    Taxes: 2278.75
    Doc Fee: 80
Monthly (36 months, 7,500 miles per year): 708.74

    MF: 0.00069

.00069 MF and 56% residual is correct.
Taxes aren't collected upfront, but applied to the payment, so your tax number is informational, rather than an amount added to the CAP cost.

Do you have the adjusted CAP cost?

With that adjusted CAP, I get $659/mo., tax included

I'd ask the dealer for the adjusted CAP and the calculations for how they came up with it.

    .00138 MF and 61% residual for 36/10.
If you are making three security deposits, that lowers the money factor by .00021
So, if .00168 is the pre-discounted money factor, it's marked up by .00030, and if it's post-discount, it's marked up by .00051.

    What state/tax rate is this?

@kyfdx , thank you for your reply.
My dealer quoted me MF of .00168 with 3 months of security deposit.

I was offered $515/mo including taxes just now and I think the amount is going to move a lot from here. Is this a good deal?

I am in California so I believe tax is 9.5%

You are right, most leases are much higher for this MSRP and 36/12. I got lucky and I did a lot of leg work on internet calling several dealers etc, and using this site as a reference for other deals helped a lot. I used an AutoNation dealership, keep in mind it was the last day of the year (for the dealer receiving MB incentives). Ask your local AutoNation dealer to do something similar. If they cannot, I can give you the contact info of the salesgirl I was dealing with and she can probably arrange for you to take delivery at the SoCal AutoNation dealer (not sure, just speculating).

    .00113 and 59%

With those prices, I get $664/mo with all taxes and fees paid up front.

Our recommendation? Have them restructure the deal with only the first payment and registration costs due at signing - roll the taxes and other fees into the lease payment.

All that other money up front would be lost if the car is stolen or totaled.

Fees (I know they’re marked up a bit)

    Doc fee 598

Came out at $659 a month with $5,500 drive off, of which $3,500 is downpayment.

    I confirm the .00185 MF and 59% for 36/12

What is the adjusted cap cost, with fees added in and the $3500 applied against it?

We do not recommend large down payments on a lease - just the first payment and RMV costs to be paid at signing. All other up front money would be lost if the car is stolen or totaled.

Whether you pay the shipping fee is between you and the dealer - I'm guessing there isn't anything on the lot you'd be happy with. It will cost them something to transport it - what do you think is your fair share?
