Not a luxury car on the list. IIRC most cars are stolen for parts so it makes sense that more popular cars will be more likely to be stolen.

I remember when the #1 stolen vehicles were anything made in the '80s/early '90s by Chrysler. Apparently their steering column locks could be overcome just by looking at them sideways.

Being that top stolen cars closely mirrors top selling cars, my money has always been on convenience rather than any desire as the reason for stealing one over the other.

It turned out to be a great day - that 12th hole par 4 at 288 yards was exciting as was the Island Green.
We’re having dinner at Caffe Andiamo right at the main entrance to TPC Sawgrass - superior Italian food - several golfers and their families are here. It’s really exciting being here in the middle of one of the best tournaments on the PGA Tour. And, nothing happened out of the ordinary - oops - forgot about that darn snake bite - otherwise uneventful.
Actually I’m quite jealous! That’s a fabulous golf tournament and I would love to be there!

I was watching Goss's Garage on Motorweek and he recommends a transmission flush (not fluid exchange) every 24-36k miles. I thought I was OCD at 50k intervals. Goss claims up to 4x longer life.

I can't copy this British list of top 10 cars stolen but number one is M.B. C. Class. Rest of top 10 is mostly M.B. BMW, and Range Rover, one V.W. and one Audi.
No Gennies.....even thieves don't want fakes!
Looks like in the U.S. it's Honda.

Well that list is good news, compared to 5 years ago---people are starting once again to Steal American! Just a little more effort and we can top the list.

I like how Toyota has put that body-colored piece in the lower end of the grille up front that slants up on the ends. Nice. It's obvious that I'm gonna like this car, anyone notice the big gaping maw in the front? Sort of like the Scion iA/Toyota Yaris iA, only this time they added that piece down there to break up the lower end of the fishface a bit. Enthralling, it really is.
It's gonna sell like hotcakes for Toyota. Maybe by the time the 2011 Kia Soul is nearing 175,000 miles I'll consider buying a gently-used one. The Kia now has 99,478 miles on it. I live about a third of a mile from my work and we don't head out onto the highway all that often, so the miles are gonna rack up very slowly for us.
This article I'm reading now says that the Corolla sedan won't be refreshed until 2020. This new Corolla hatchback sits on the TNGA platform. At 170" long, it's actually 13" shorter than the existing Corolla sedan.
That rear end is made of resin, they designed in too many creases, folds, curves and what-chee-moos into it to be able to bend a metal version of it, so they had to mold it out of resin. Of course I love that rearend, including the exhaust tips down there. What's not ta like?

It's got some interesting tech built into it's engine and transmission, too. I would buy the manual, of course, but the guy I watched this morning on a YouTube test-drive video said that the CVT is smooth and fun to drive, too. This replaces the Toyota Corolla iM, which was the Scion iM, and it was priced at around $18,995 for the stick version. I'm thinking this one will price out at around the same for the stick SE model.

From the article above I have just learned some very interesting tech information about the 8" screen to the right of the steering wheel and the apps and equipment available. The following is clipped from that article.
Good Infotainment System
The entry SE includes Toyota Entune 3.0 (the umbrella term for Toyota infotainment); an 8-inch color center stack LCD; Entune 3.0 App Suite Connect that lets you use apps such as Pandora, Slacker, Yelp, Pandora and Scout navigation via the car’s controls; Safety Connect, Toyota’s Verizon-powered telematics system; in-car Wi-Fi; and Apple CarPlay, but not Android Auto until Toyota is satisfied Android protects user privacy. There are two USB jacks and an aux port.
The next level up for audio is called Entune Audio Plus; it’s standard on XSE, optional on SE CVT, and adds satellite radio, HD radio, and weather/traffic info. Finally, Entune Audio Premium on the CVT SXE adds on-board navigation, a JBL 800-watt, eight speaker audio array, and Clari-Fi (which fleshes out low-bit-rate digital music).
All-new or refreshed Toyotas with Entune support SmartDevice Link (SDL), a way for smartphones to connect to vehicles and use the center stack display instead of the phone display. Ford and Toyota are the primary proponents of SDL; Ford calls it AppLink. What once seemed like a disadvantage, that SDL isn’t Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, has turned into an advantage because the automaker has direct control of the device’s security; it isn’t relying on Apple or Google to protect the privacy of the phones connected to the car. One reason to like SmartDevice Link is that additional apps would be available. For instance, suppose you want Waze running instead of Apple Maps; with SDL you could.
The above bolded italic section is key to why the infotainment section of the 2019 Toyota Corolla is going to totally rock the house. I will be able to sync up my Motorola Moto g smart phone with Entune to the entertainment center and play apps off my phone. Until someone comes along and tells me I can't, that is. With tech you have to state things somewhat tongue in cheek until you actually do them yourself, in your own car. If I ever do buy a '19 and/on Toyota Corolla hatch, there will no doubt be a YouTube video explaining the sync-up of your Android phone and its app.'s. The Corolla hatch already comes with Apply CarPlay, the legalities of acquiring Android Auto no doubt got too costly, annoying or inaccessible for Toyota so they just punted the idea.
But reading down to the end of the linked extremetech.com article proved to be most interesting and promising for potential '19 and/on Toyota Corolla hatchback purchasers that run an Android smartphone. It only makes sense, Toyota doesn't remind me of the kind of carmaker that would alienate a large portion of the carbuying public on purpose.

The assumption in that article is that Toyota is better at security than the Apple/Android developers.
Kind of doubt that.
I suspect the Genesis isn't even sold in the UK nor much or all of Europe. They don't want large-ish sedans that aren't diesels, and most Asian makes have done a marginal job at best with diesel passenger car. Back in the day, Kia tried to market the Amanti in Europe (as the Opirus), pricing it at basic E-class money. It was a complete failure.
The assumption in that article is that Toyota is better at security than the Apple/Android developers.
Kind of doubt that.
Or they're tired of waiting for the right lawyer-eeze agreement regarding whether or not Android Auto will protect user privacy. See below.

When it's all over and the proverbial fat lady has sung, I wouldn't let something like car entertainment cloud my purchase choices. Not even close - this car is stock full of solid mechanical engineering, and that will always trump entertainment choices available at the time.

Ahh, the 1966 VW Fastback in baby blue. The car Dad taught me how to drive a stick-shift in. I'm so glad he was a persistent teacher. That car was light and fun ta drive - I sort of wish I had it these days.

If I'm in the market for a used car and I see a hitch on the back I usually run the other way especially if 'it's a Class 3 hitch on a passenger car. I don't care how tough a car is, towing is hell on a car. If the manual says it can tow 2500 pounds, yes it probably "can". I've seen Odysseys just run into ground pulling heavy trailers lden with camping equipment, firewood and the like. A heavy duty transmission cooler can make a big difference along with regular transmission fluid changes. Notice I didn't use the word "flush" and you shouldn't either!
I don't mind bicycle hitches ASSUMING that's all they were used for!
How about a Seiko story?
In about 1971 a co-worker returned from Vietnam wearing the spiffiest watch i had ever seen! I was really impressed to say the least. What kind is it? He told me "It's a Seiko"! What?? Never heard of such a thing! He told me it was made in Japan and that he had bought at the PX for something like 60.00!
I was a bit uneasy about the Made in Japan part at the time but, I loved the watch!
So, the Marketing Department hit all the mom and pop Jewelry stores pushing them hard to carry and sell these new beautiful watches that were (gulp) made in Japan!
Slowly the Seiko name grew and the watches in addition to being beautiful didn't break and kept excellent time!
Seiko had arrived thanks to the small jewelry stores that took a chance on them!
Seiko became a fierce competitor and the US and Swiss manufactures scrambled to compete...sound familiar.
As the years passed Seiko picked up a lot of competition and decided to slap the mom and pop stores that made them what thery were! They sold to big box stores the same watches and the customers were buying them for less than the jewerly stores were paying for the same watches.
Most of the small stores told Seiko to pick up their inventory and get out!
But...the damage was done. And, the beat go's on!

You are exactly right - I've heard that before. Shame on Seiko for doing that, but all big companies are 100% driven by money and have short memories as to where their success came from. Short-sighted with short memories is the business modus operandi, sadly.
It was an experience I will treasure for the rest of my life.

It seems to have changed from how i remember it.
Also, I'm reading a golf book written just before the Tiger Woods era started.
Went to Pikes Market a few times....saw them throw the fish
Saw Chilly blown glass exhibit. Indoors and great garden. Not normally my thing to see but this was amazing.
Rode the Monorail back to downtown
Did the underground city tour which was interesting and fun, and
The best was the Ride the Ducks amphibians trucks, great views of the city and our guide was a riot.
We passed a very modern looking Starbucks by the water and boats can pull up and stop. He said this is the very first Starbucks (remember, it was very modern),..................that you will see on this trip today.
Flight back at 7a.m. tomorrow!

You are right...my tablet has a mind of it's own, it changed it and I didn't notice.
It was a beautiful day for the Duck Ride. Some people think it isn't safe, or the vehicles look like they could tip over, or it is embarassing, but, it was the highlight of Seattle.....pure fun with our guide Phil D.B.U.R.N. (if I don't do that I get do urn).

In my opinion, from watching them play, Justin Thomas is the very best golfer of all the pros we saw play. When Jordan Spieth is on his game, there’s none better - but Justin Thomas is more consistently a better golfer.
