Just had my first email negotiations for the 2019 TLX V6 A-Spec. The dealer is 2 hrs away, but my zip for tax is 93304.

MSRP 43795
Selling Price 38577
0 down
898 Drive-offs
527.81 monthly payment
36mo/10000 mi

He then emailed me back after saying it was the best he could do and offered 0 drive-offs but the payment would be 556.

Thoughts?

Not a big discount from sticker, if you take away the incentive.

We recommend you pay the first payment and DMV costs at signing ($898 looks about right)

Try to get a bigger discount from sticker; that's where you will save money.

Thanks for the speedy reply! New to this, so I'm trying to understand. The lease cash....is that something the dealer always takes off/uses or do I need to ask for that? Is it one of those unadvertised discounts? And what you were saying is that my starting point for negotiation of the selling price should have been MSRP 43795-3450=40345?

What @Michaell is saying that if you factor the incentive into the selling price they are giving you, the discount the dealer is giving on the car (from their own pocket) isn't that great as it's mostly being subvented by the incentive.

The lease cash is an unadvertised incentive from the manufacturer that is provided to the dealer. Dealers are under no obligation to pass it along but most will, albeit with many disguising it as a "dealer discount" to the unknowing consumer. Using your logic, yes your sale price should be $40,345 at the minimum however that's with $0 dealer discount which frankly shouldn't fly on a sedan that sells at a tepid pace. I would do some research to see what A-Specs are selling for in your area and make an offer that is inclusive of the available incentive and has more of a dealer discount. I think there is still some room to maneuver.

The Acura incentives are all Acura-to-dealer, so they'll be incorporated in any price they offer.

So, yes.... subtract $3450 from the actual MSRP, and consider that then new "sticker price", when negotiating the selling price.

I'm interested in a 2019 Base TLX 2.4, 36 months, 12k miles/year. Zip code is 91307 but can travel for a better deal to Ventura County (93030) or downtown LA (90012).

Just got quoted in zip 11427. Is this a good deal, or do I have any more room to negotiate? Any additional incentives? This would be my first lease so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Odd that they quote .00122, as .00112 is the base rate for August. The .00122 would be if the security deposit is waived, but that rarely gets enforced. Ask them about the MF bump and see what they say. Not adding a lot to the lease payment, but it's not nothing, either.

Also, ask them for the CAP cost used in their payment calculation, since the taxes and fees are part of the payment (that is, you aren't paying them up front).

Hello, Based on August money factor, dealer incentive and residual, a dealer in zip code 02874 has quoted me the following on a 36 month lease with 7500 miles: 2019 4 CYL, auto, TLX, Tech, no money down, tax in the payment, and making the last 6 payments on my MDX totaling $4170. MSRP $33,995 with a sale price of $30,251 for $489 a month. What do you think.

But, $4250 in lease cash, which seems to me that you are then paying over MSRP, before the incentive is applied.

Or, the $4170 from the old lease is negating the incentive.

Why not wait 6 months until the current lease is up?

If the dealer is making $4170 in payments, then that is increasing the price of the new car by a like amount.

So, you'll be making the rest of your lease payments, while getting no use out of the vehicle.

If you are 9000 miles over on this lease, why are you getting quoted for just 7.5K/yr on the new lease?

Are you sure that's the number with the current lease removed from the equation?

At a minimum the CAP cost should be $4250 less than the MSRP, because of the available lease cash. Even then, you should also negotiate a discount from sticker before the lease cash is applied.
