I would not pay $499 for "premium tint". I would ask the dealer to split that cost 50/50 (You only pay $249).
Why do you need to make a decision by tomorrow? Is the dealer pressuring you?
MSRP: $24,615.00
Savings: $4,630.86
Price: $19,984.14
+$1,057.00 ($399 for tint, $359 for floor mats, trunk tray, and wheel locks, $299 for a film that protects around the doors and trunk)
After tax and registration fees:
OTD Price: $23,024.71
This seems like a very good price to me but I am wondering if anyone thinks I can negotiate it lower? I am eligible for a $500 incentive so that should put it down to around $22.5k. When I test drove the accord the dealer told me that they put all of those addons on their cars as soon as they arrive. I am not completely sure if this is true but I got 5 other quotes and the next best is $23,572 with nothing added on. The tint and other addons seem too expensive but I am not sure if there is even much room to negotiate. I am happy to have them on the car but was wondering what I should counter offer? Thanks in advance for any advice!
Thank you to everyone who provided input. Much appreciated!
invoice 26000
Total after taxes 28800 with wheel lock and floor mats
Feel like i overpaid not sure if i saved anything
Read up on tactics for negotiating your best price the last two days of the month. What are the dealer's doc fees?
1. MSRP of the car
2. Sale price (before incentices)
3. Incentives
4. Cost accessories/dealer add-ons
5. Dealer doc fee
1. MSRP of the car (listed on windows sticker). You can find this info on Honda's website.
2. Sale price of the car excluding incentives, but including the destination fee (If you are not sure, always ask).
3. Cost of accessories on the car (if any).
4. Dealer doc fees (The lowest I have seen it in FL is $799)
5. License and registration fees ( Should the same for all dealers).
6. Any incentives you qualify for.
You can calculate the sales tax using the sales price of the car. Is it 6% tax in Florida?
As far as pricing, it depends on your location. Once you start getting quotes, you will have a better idea of whether $1k below invoice is possible on this car.
How soon are you looking to buy? This month?
Only walk into a dealership to test drive the car. I would suggest not wasting your time talking numbers without having any information (what i posted earlier). You will be negotiating blind. If you plan to finance the car, make sure you know what your credit score is. Some dealers and sales people have been known to lie or misrepresent information. At the end of the day, you are free to walk out anytime if you feel you are not being given accurate info or your salesperson is untrustworthy. Do not sign any paperwork unless the numbers you are being presented add up or make sense.
Good luck.
Invoice price is $29,006.
All prices include the $920 destination fee.
MSRP: $31,015
Sale Price: $27,190
Tax: $1,700
OTD: $29,299
Retail $27,525
(only comes with CLEAR SHIELD)
$28,197 OTD
Not really thrilled on the price. They said they would only move a couple hundred. Brought this quote to another dealer that would only take $50 off lol. Input?
Invoice price is $26,187. Your "Retail Price" is about $1338 above invoice. What is the cost of the clear shield? I would ran away from both dealers.
You can reach out to more dealers in your area or expand your search radius. If you are not in a rush to buy, do more research and wait for the last two days of the month to try and get your best pricing.
Good luck.

Clear shield is only $395 (they said they couldnt remove it since it's on the car already). I didn't feel like it was a good price based on my research that's why I walked. They weren't willing to go lower (or maybe I need better negotiating tactics). Regardless I was looking for a much better deal. Thanks for your input, it really helps on this discussion board.
The numbers I have now from dealerships in north cal for 2019 Accord EX:
Selling price: $24715
Dealer added accessories: $1057
Tax:$1876.81
Other fees:$444.75
I got this quote on Mar. 31. Is there any way to get a lower selling price?
Is your selling price $24715? Or, $24715 + $1057?

Good luck.
I have received 10+ quotes here over email. Best pricing was around $25,000 before taxes and fees. I have read that the best time is at the end of the month and when I got the quote for $28,200 out the door that was on 3/30. No need to say I was pretty disappointed in that price and walked out. I've used that quote and emailed back dealers to beat it, some say they can only do $200 or so off the price. I told them I want the car around $27,000 out the door, more than half of them told me outright no they cant do that. One however said they are confident we can make that happen (who knows if that's just a tactic to get me in). But as far as pricing here in So Cal it seems they are pretty stiff based on my quotes and the few So Cal quotes I've seen on this thread. You're right though, I'll wait till the end of the month and negotiate again.
One other piece of advice I have for you - Most dealers are not going to give you their best price right off the bat. Dealers who claim they can beat another dealer's best offer by a few hundred dollars should be ignored. Telling a dealer you want the car for $XX,XXX is not going to fly 9/10.
Keep a list of dealers you have emailed with a breakdown of the top 3 with the lowest price. Always make sure the sale price includes the destination fee and does not include any incentives you may not qualify for. If you are not sure, ask the dealer to clarify. If they start to play games, move on. I am sure in your area, there must be more than 10 Honda dealers. You might have to email/contact more dealers towards the end of the month. When you do, I would suggest putting them on the spot telling them you will BUY TODAY at say $XXXX below invoice.
Only walk into the dealership to inspect the car and sign the papers. Before signing, review the numbers and make sure they match what was communicated to you. You are always free to walk if dealer plays games.
Good luck.
I think I got confused when I brought up my quote on the previous page on this thread. When I said I got a quote for $28,200 that was the out the door cost. Vehicle price was $25,240 before taxes. I got a reply from you saying that price was $1,338 above invoice but I think you might have thought that price was before the fees. So I've been thinking that quote for $28,200 was a bad deal. I do appreciate the advice, and you're right I could have approached some of these negotiating tactics better. It was funny because when I got the first quote from the dealer in person it was $35,000+ out the door! Of course they added all this nonsense that I didn't want (extended warranty, accessories, GAP protection, lifetime oil). The dealers weren't bad but they did make me wait 25-30 mins for the manager for the first quote and give me the "alot of people have been looking at this car, it might sell soon." A little annoying but it's part of the game I get it. But here is the paper as I think the destination fee was in the vehicle price as I don't see it in the quote?

@tonychang1983 - Fyi, the price you had quoted for the EX was not $25k. It was $27,525. Even if you deduct the clear shield, it was still a bad deal. Hope this helps clarifies things.
MSRP:$28515
Selling price:$23814
Tax:$1971.67
Doc fee:$85
Non-taxable fee:$393.75
OTD:$26264
Should I pull the trigger? However, the finance APR it provides is too high (12.5%). I will seek pre-approval from other credit union or banks.
I live in CA and the model is 2019 EX. The dealer just said the APR is decided by banks and need some documents to apply.
Dealers often quote higher APRs (or, if leasing, higher MFs) before credit is run, just to play it safe.

1. Does the sale price include any finance incentives? (If you are not sure, ask. Sometimes dealers provide additional incentives for financing through Honda Financial Services).
2. Regarding the APR, did the dealer run your credit? If yes, what was the number he used for this quote?
3. As you have stated, your best bet will be to seek outside financing through a credit union.
Good luck and let us know how things go.
I want the car and don't absolutely need it, so, there is no hurry. Do you think I can get them to go lower than that, maybe at the end of the month?
Thanks in advance for your input!
