I'm not a fan of Edmunds price promise.

If your not good at negotiating online over the phone and are willing to travel to get that better deal, try doing this first
Use True-Car pricing its a better pricing guide.

Try this method..... In your area use your name email / zip code . If using another city / state to see where pricing lies use a different name email & that area's zip to compare.

I usually find when I compare True-car pricing to my negotiating skills if I buy at the very end of any month or ending quarter I beat True-Car pricing $300 to $500 dollars from there lowest dealers price . Supply & Demand play a big part on how good your next deal lies

I looked at true car price it’s 24,937
I already have an offer of 23,300

So I called my local dealer told him I got a 23.3 k offer and that’s without negotiating. He offered to talk to manager to get try to match it, I told him that’s not fair as I think I can get the 23.3 down if I walk in withe the money and asked him to give me his best offer that’s below that (my local dealer does not have the color)

I also called the 23.3k guy who was not budging on price without me coming in (200miles away in Columbus).

I called another large dealer that’s 30m away and asked for best bottom price.

I’ll try the different zip/email as well tonight.

I’ll be buying next weekend I’ll let you know the outcome, any other advice feel free to chime in.

    Your doing a Excellent job!

Keep calling / emailing your local dealers. Tell each dealer meet X price I buy it today. I already have x price and will be going to X dealer to buy next week.

Take note... If your buying a Manuel Accord most dealers wont go out of there way to find and bring back vehicle to you. BUT..you have to try, sometimes you get lucky with a desperate dealer looking for last minute end of the month sales numbers

What do you guys think about this deal I signed yesterday? :)

    - Price breakdown:
    - Total price of vehicle with options - $22,344.33
    - Destination & Delivery - $920.00

    Just got into a 2019 EX-L 2.0T this week.

    MSRP $33,040
Sales price $28,000 (includes the destination fee)

    Other fees were:
Tax, title, registration - I checked their math and these were accurate and expected amounts
    Dealer doc fee $100
    Lease acquisition fee $595

It felt like a pretty good price for a really great car.

I think I might be able to get another 500 with the college grad promo. Most dealerships around me won't budge past the 32500 mark. Not in a rush though so I'll wait it out. What would be considered a good sales price?

    Thoughts on this deal

    2019 Accord EX
    MSRP - 28,550
    Sales price - 23,763.33
    Accessories Fee - 433
    Gov Fee - 224
    Additional Service fees: 399.00
    Acquisition Fee: 595.00
    Total Taxes(~5.6% wi) - 41.24
    Total Cap - $25455.47
    Net Cap - $24735.71
    with $1000 down payment.
    Monthly payment $265.38 + $14.86 (tax) = $280.24

I requested a money factor of .00056 which I received from this forum and they said they would do that. I realize there's well over $1000+ in fees that I can still negotiate on. Any advice which particular?

Annual miles is 12k for a 36m lease. Residual is 15988.

I also received a quote for a sport 1.5L from a different dealer.

    2019 Accord Sport 1.5
    MSRP - 27,075
    Sales price - 23,624.00
    Doc Fees - 220
    Gov Fee - 89
    Total Taxes(~5.6% wi) - 12.32
    with $500 trade. 12/36 lease
    Monthly payment $269.17

This seems like a good deal. Thoughts?

Both of those deals have a reasonable payment, relative to MSRP.

The first deal has a lot of garbage (accessories, additional services, etc), but you'll probably find that comes along with the extra low price. It's important to look at the whole cost. If you can negotiate some of that off, then so much the better, but you might find that is problematic. Don't lose sight of the big picture.

Where are you located? You are at about $1500 below invoice. I would aim for another $500 off before incentives.

If dealers in your area do not want to deal, expand your search radius.

Fyi, dealer doc fees in Georgia are uncapped and can be high, negating any discount you are getting off the sale price.

    Good luck.

New to this forum and it looks fantastic!

I'm looking for some help with a price quote I got on a 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring

    MSRP = $35920 (incl destination)
Sales Price = $31500 (incl destination)
    Incentives = $0
    Accessories = $0
    Dealer Fees/Tags = $268
    Taxes (7.25%) = $2303

    OTD = $34071

I'm in Ohio, so I thought I would get a better deal than this since Honda's manufacturing site is here. Maybe it's not a stellar deal because it's the hybrid version? What are your thoughts? I'm reluctant to get too aggressive with negotiations ahead of time because I have a trade in and don't want them to take away from the value they may have given me for my trade in. Just curious to know where I should be on this deal without the trade in.

Hi, just wanted to post the deal I just made today at Honda AutoNation Miami Lakes for a
2019 Honda Accord EX-L Hybrid 2.0 Modern Steel , Black leather interior

    MSRP 32,650
    With dealer added optional Equipment
    3y appearance protection 499
    3y dent protection. 499
    Wheel locks. 149
    Window Tints (3M). 299

    Total. 34,096

My deal was the following: (negotiations started from $32,650 (Not from $34,096)
After $5,765.67 discount, new total was:
    $26,884.33

    Sales tax (7%). $1,720.33
    Tire/battery/ MVWEA. $6.50
    New tag/ Registration. $549
    Dealer service fee. $799

    TOTAL OUT THE DOOR. $29,959.16

All dealer add ons were left on including Floor Mats.

Because I went under budget, I decided to pay $2,400 separately for a 8year/ 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty through Honda w $0 deductible. (Vehicle was for the wife and she wanted piece of mind...) this warranty paid for itself on our 2014 Honda Odyssey Touring with over $3,800 worth of repairs and I thought it might be worth it on the Accord as well.

Going to purchase tomorrow in Columbus. Going to shoot for another $1000 off on the Hybrid Touring. Goal for OTD price including TTL/accessories/everything is $33,000. Have a trade in, but keeping it as separate as possible. Would that be a good deal on a 2019 Hybrid Touring? Haven't had any responses, but looking through the thread, it seems decent. Rough goal numbers would be:

    MSRP - $35,920
    Goal Price - $30,500
    Dealer Fees/Tags - $268
    Taxes - $2,231

    Total - $32,999

I did try that price goal here in New Jersey $33,500 OTD but the salesman won’t budge, end up walking out. Good luck on your dealings.

    Hi everyone,

I’m in Bentonville, AR. I am in search for Accord Sport 2.0T. I contacted few dealers in the area for the quotes. This is the best quote I got until now without negotiations.

    MSRP-31640
    Sale Price-27742
    Service&Handling-129
Taxes and title fees not included.
Price without Taxes and title- 27872
    Taxes(~6.5%) - 1803
Have to check title fees with DMV.

What would be the best price I should aim for?
    Any thoughts.

    Total - $32,999

I did try that price goal here in New Jersey $33,500 OTD but the salesman won’t budge, end up walking out. Good luck on your dealings.

Final price if I didn't have any trade in:

    MSRP - $35,920
    Price - $30,900
    Dealer Fees/Tags - $268
Accessories - $399 (paint shield for rock chips)
    Taxes - $2,289

    Total - $33,588

I did $500 better than I thought I would on the trade in and didn't have to pay sales tax on the amount of the trade in, and used that savings to "pay" for the paint protector (since our trade in had horrible chips). I know I probably could have gotten another $100 or so off the price, but I was happy with this deal and love the car!

i was offered a sport 2.0 in virginia for $26,600 including doc fee.

You are missing a lot of info such as MSRP, sale price (without doc fee), and whether any incentives were included in the price.

    Hi everyone,

I’m in Bentonville, AR. I am in search for Accord Sport 2.0T. I contacted few dealers in the area for the quotes. This is the best quote I got until now without negotiations.

    MSRP-31640
    Sale Price-27742
    Service&Handling-129
Taxes and title fees not included.
Price without Taxes and title- 27872
    Taxes(~6.5%) - 1803
Have to check title fees with DMV.

What would be the best price I should aim for?
    Any thoughts.

You are at about $1200 below invoice before doc fees. Just an okay deal. I would contact more dealers towards the end of the month and ask for at least $1500 below invoice. A great deal would be at more than $2k below invoice.

    Good luck.

I bought my 2019 2.0t Sport last month. Sticker was 31630. I got them down to 27900 and then got 500 Honda Cash for Military and 750 Honda Loyalty cash. So I ended up paying 26650 plus another 300 for document, tag and title fees.

Planning to buy 2019 Honda Accord EX. Is it better to buy now or wait a month and buy when 2020 are out? Usually how much more dealers discount the previous years once the new one is out? Makes sense to wait or just buy now?

Hello and thanks for your help in these forums. I am also looking to get the Accord Sport 2.0t,but in South Florida. Based on a google search it looks like the invoice is $28,085 and destination is $920. If I want to offer a dealer 2k under invoice, would it be 2k under $28,085 or 29,005? Also is it fair to assume 2k under invoice should be net of any dealer fees they add? Down here doc fees are $900+ so 2k under invoice plus dealer fees turns into 1k under invoice.

Always include the destination fee when looking at the sale price. Invoice price is $29,005. I would suggest emailing 20-30 dealers in your area for an online quote first. Then you can figure out whether $2k under invoice is a good counter. Negotiate your best deal the last two days of the month.

If you want to avoid the outrageous dealer fees in FL, you might be better off buying from an out of state dealer.

If you do not need a car now, you can wait for 2020 models to arrive on dealer lots and see if you can score a deal on a 2019 model. However, the longer you wait, you might not get the car in the color combination you want with the options you want.

Where are you located? If you live close to a metropolitan area, you might be able to score a great deal at the end of the year (December) on a 2019 model. However, it all depends on supply and demand in your area.

Although sedans have not been selling that well compared to SUVs, Honda dealers do not normally heavily discount previous year models. Hondas have great resale value and some dealers feel they can sell to an uninformed walk-in customer. Being on this forum already gives you a leg up.

I would recommend reaching out to 20-30 dealers in your area to get a base line on pricing.

    Good luck.

Hi, just wanted to post the deal I just made today at Honda AutoNation Miami Lakes for a
2019 Honda Accord EX-L Hybrid 2.0 Modern Steel , Black leather interior

    MSRP 32,650
    With dealer added optional Equipment
    3y appearance protection 499
    3y dent protection. 499
    Wheel locks. 149
    Window Tints (3M). 299

    Total. 34,096

My deal was the following: (negotiations started from $32,650 (Not from $34,096)
After $5,765.67 discount, new total was:
    $26,884.33

    Sales tax (7%). $1,720.33
    Tire/battery/ MVWEA. $6.50
    New tag/ Registration. $549
    Dealer service fee. $799

    TOTAL OUT THE DOOR. $29,959.16

All dealer add ons were left on including Floor Mats.

Because I went under budget, I decided to pay $2,400 separately for a 8year/ 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty through Honda w $0 deductible. (Vehicle was for the wife and she wanted piece of mind...) this warranty paid for itself on our 2014 Honda Odyssey Touring with over $3,800 worth of repairs and I thought it might be worth it on the Accord as well.

I'm in the market in Tampa area, but looks like a great deal. May be worth a drive to get this price. Do you have salesman info? Would you share your deal sheet? Maybe get Tampa dealer to step up to that price. Thanks

This site helped me on my deal so I want to post some of my info. I took delivery yesterday on a 2019 Accord Sport 2.0T Manual. Here are the numbers:

    MSRP: 31,630 inc. delivery
    Invoice: 29,016
    Sale price: 26,751
    Doc fee: 199
    State license fees: 61

Included in the price were Honda all season mats, door edge guards and splash guards that were already installed. They also threw in a third party unlimited Powertrain warranty but may not be worth the paper it is printed on! Overall, I’m happy with the deal and the car.

Hi Everyone, first time post for me. I'm trying to get a 2019 EX-L 1.5. I'm trying to also get the parking sensor added to the car for my wife.

So far I got this from one dealer who gave the most detailed breakdown of the costs:

    MSRP $30120.00
    Savings $4620.00
    Sales Price* $25500.00*
    Freight $920.00
Wheel Locks & Mud Guards $290
    Processing Fee $795
    Virginia Sales Tax $1188.22
    New Tags $77.75
    Parking Sensor 1300
    Total $30768.97*

Another dealer told me they could do $29,300 out the door.

We budgeted around 26k-27k for the car. Do you guys think we can get this for 27k out the door based on the specs I provided?

    Thanks!

I'm in Seattle. I'm currently talking to several dealerships by email and negotiating price. There looks to still be a good amount of 2019 Accord EX's in inventory.
I am a veteran, so it looks like I get a $500 discount.
I've bought a 2018 Honda Odyssey and just finishing a lease on a 2016 Honda Civic.

Looking to buy a 2019 Honda Accord EX.
#1 Offer: $24,700 is the lowest offer so far.
#2 Offer: I have a quoted out the door price of $29,500 with no price breakdown yet.

I'm trying to wait until the end of the month.
What can I do to get a better deal?

Wife has decided on 2019 Accord Hybrid (base). We're in SoCal, can buy in LA, Orange County, or San Diego.

    Couple of requests for help:
    1. Anyone have a SoCal Honda dealer/sales person to recommend, where they found their sales person easy to work with and got a good deal?
    2. I've read here that hybrids are more difficult to get reduced prices. What's my "reasonable" expectation? Pay around invoice price (invoice $23,169, MSRP $25,320) plus tax, dest., title, etc., or ?
    3. I'm a little confused by some sites I've visited on color combos available for the Honda Hybrid. Wife wants the red color, and I can't tell for sure if that's only available w/the light (tan?) interior, or it it also comes w/the grey interior. What's the truth there?
    4. As a part of the process I'm getting the Costco car price w/a local dealer. Can I assume that the stated Costco price is the same at any local dealer? And I believe I read here that there is still some wiggle room in the Costco price, you can negotiate for around $500 more in savings in some cases? Did I get that right?
Thanks for any advice, warnings, "Thou shalt or shalt not..." commands, and "Doh! Don't forget to..." reminders. :D

@stellyma (and others), when you email dealers do you clearly tell them you are contacting other dealers as well to push them to "go deep" or is that just assumed and adds no value? Also, is it better to suggest a sale price, or wait for them to make the first offer?

    Thanks!
  • stellymastellyma Member Posts: 4
I told them that I was shopping around for the best deal in my area so it was kind of implied. Some asked for what offers where offering. The msrp on that car is 31 and everyone has it listed for 29.1k and some are coming in at 27.2k to 28k including destination. Some of those prices are with accessories. Some not. I do suggest a sales price since they have them clearly listed and give on “internet wise” below that.

I’m just curious if 27k sales including destination and accessories is plus ttl is good.

Hope this helps and to hear from others

Can you double check the MSRP you listed? Are you sure it is not $31630 instead? Does the sale price include the cost of all these accessories? If yes, you need to have a separate line item showing the cost for each accessory. If the dealer does not want to be transparent, I would suggest working with another dealer.

You might want to reach out to more dealers over the next few days since the end of the month is around the corner.

To add to what has already been said. Most dealers are not going to give you their best offer when you first reach out to them. It takes time researching pricing in your area to get a good deal. I would not recommend suggesting a sale price first.

Shopping the end of the month or at the end of the quarter might get you the best pricing. If a dealer/sales guy is trying to hit their end of month quota, they might be more inclined to give you a good deal. A lot of factors come into play such as how long the car has been sitting on their lot, and supply and demand in your area. But again, you might have to put in some work. If you are ready to buy within the next few days, tell every dealer that. If you are not comfortable giving them a number, you should also tell them that the dealer that offers you the lowest price on car X gets your business that day. Plain and simple.

Another word of advice. Do not walk into a dealership to negotiate pricing. That is how most folks get frustrated or end up getting ripped off. Only walk in for a test drive or to sign paperwork. You should do all negotiations via email or phone. If some dealers do not want to play ball, move onto the next one.

    Where are you located?

    Good luck.

Sales price does include the destination and all accessories that are listed on post. ~700
