Can someone please clarify: is the residual pegged to the base MSRP or MSRP inclusive of destination fee and options? I thought the former. Looking at a 2020 Jetta SEL. MSRP is 25495. I was given a quote of 0.00050 as a money factor (excellent credit) and residual rate of 54%. So I figured the residual to be 13,766. Dealer's quote has MSRP at 27,100 (that is total with dest. fee and options) and residual of 14,634. Am I right that it should be lower or not? Can't find clear info online. Thanks

The full MSRP, including options and destination fee. Bottom line of the sticker.
One note: A lower residual makes for a higher lease payment. You want the residual to be as high as possible.
Thanks for the info. I think that I've secured a good deal, but I'd like to check, as one element of it puzzles me. I'm using a lease calculator to track and check offers (this is in an excel spreadsheet format, found online elsewhere; it's detailed and comprehensive and seems accurate). Here's the deal MSRP 27,100 Residual 52% (14,092) Money factor 0.00068 Term 39 mo. Purchase price 22,375 Fees 1,306 tax 6.25% (Texas) Rebate: 275 Down: 150 They are quoting me 275/mo. That is what I targeted and seems reasonable. Is it a good deal?
What puzzles me is, using the above info in my calculator, I come out with 276.53/mo. I know it's only a dollar and change off, but it's odd. Also, in the midst of negotiating, prior to them offering the 275 rebate or asking for the 150 down, I offered 21,900 as the purchase price. Using that and the remaining info above, I calculated 275.13/mo., which is why I offered 21,900. They have the selling price higher, but it's effectively the same monthly payment. Am I missing something important here? Or is this after all a good deal?

Here's a screenshot of the offer. Nothing is due at signing. I gave them the 150 down as a deposit to hold the car for me. I entered 6.25% as the sale tax rate in my calculator, not a dollar amount.

Texas taxes the full selling price of the vehicle, and collects it upfront. If you are rolling that amount into the lease payment, then you'll have to add that to your balance, and leave the tax portion of the calculator blank.
They do list a tax amount, which makes me wonder if you are getting Texas tax credits. (this seems likely)
And, your $150 deposit seems like it's calculated into the deal (not a deposit, if you get the car) Also, with only $150 Due at Signing, you'll have to add back in part of the first payment (which is normally due at signing).
If you saw a screenshot with the exact calculations from the computer, it would be easy to figure out where the discrepancy might be. I come within about 25 cents of their payment, with MY assumptions.
Thank you for the info. I guess I'm not going to worry about the small discrepancy at this point. I had quotes from 3 other dealers and they were all much higher (over 300). I'm comfortable with the term and the payment hree, and I think it's a good deal overall. Thanks again for the input and assistance.

Could I get the RV, MF, and incentives of a 2020 VW Jetta R-line (Auto/ULEV) for 36/39 months with 12,000 miles per year? ZIP code is 33410. Thank you!

Does MF or residual get better for the month when VW has promotions (like the sign and drive event going on now). Or is it just incentives, or does nothing change for promos like that, it's just advertising trying to get you to buy/lease?

Generally, the MF and residual are fixed for the whole month; we have seen a change to the incentives mid-month, on occasion.
What is the residual, MF and lease cash for 2020 VW Jetta SE automatic, 39/10 & 36/10, NJ 07086 registration? Thank you!

Thank you very much, Michael!
Here is the deal I signed:
- All TTF are rolled in, clean sign & drive with $0 DAS, no 1st month pmt.
2020 VW Jetta SE Automatic MSRP: $24,xxx Selling Price: $21,xxx Discount: approx. 11.2% Monthly Payment: $265 Drive-Off Amount: $0 Months: 39 Annual Mileage: 10K MF: .0005 Residual: 52% Incentives: didn’t get the exact breakdown but putting 2 and 2 together, I'd say I got $1,900 out of $2,250 available Region: NJ
Congrats!
Thanks for the report.
Thank you, Michael, although I didn't ask the questions directly here prior to the deal, I used this forum to ballpark my deal structure, went for it and got the above. Wanted to confirm a few parameters and all checks out quite nicely, aside from some money I left on the table in incentives, but overall looks not too bad. Wanted to share with people of intranets in case someone is shopping for a Jetta. Thanks again!
Happy Holidays - wondering if this is a good deal for Northern NJ?

Would be good to know the full breakdown of the $2500 drive off. If it includes the sales tax, then I'd say it's a good deal. If it doesn't, then I'm not so sure.
Thx for quick response!. I don't have the breakdown of the $2500 . I don't fully understand how the sales taxes work on a lease. But does it matter if the $2500 includes the sales tax or if the sales tax is already rolled into the $228 all-in monthly payment - it would covered either way wouldn't it? Also, am I taxed on the purchased price of the vehicle or taxed just on the total of the lease payments?

In NJ, the sum of the payments and taxable fees are subject to sales tax. You can either pay them up front (as part of the $2500), or roll them into the payment.
You have to get clarity from the dealer as to which it is.
If the taxes are part of the payment, then I'd want to know what the $2500 covers, specifically.
Here is the deal I signed in NJ - (if it's a bad deal - pls don't tell me!). 2020 Jetta SE / 39 months/12K.
