I know i know, and was waiting for that. But just goes to show how these damned things are too much for someone even my size to wrangle solo.
On the plus side, I had a 2-piece sectional, armchair, ottoman, and 4 humans in the van, and it wasn’t even tight.

A guy at work has an Acura that’s coming to the end of his lease. He checked and he has $4,000 in equity thanks to the crazy market. Another guy at work has asked to buy it if he doesn’t want to keep it.
How would you arrange it? I assume that the first guy would buy it at the end of the lease and sell it to the second for the buy out price plus $4k. How would sales tax figure into this for both of them? Any pitfalls I’m not seeing?
2019 Kia Soul+, 2015 Mustang GT, 2013 Ford F-150, 2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible
*What is the real value of the car, most buy outs are a lot less than the sales price on cars.
*Can this guy find a replacement car? Maybe he should buy it out himself.
*If he leases another car from the same dealer they may handle the transaction, and there may not be too much handling....the dealer handles the sale of his trade-in. If he buys a car or leases there may be less sales tax involved.
*He may have to pay for a safety check or pay for any repairs it needs to make it saleable.
Other than that, people buy back cars all the time, and resell them for more than the buyout price. Just make sure all the documentation is done and don't accept a phony check.

I’m also assuming he will lease another Acura from the dealer and use the profit from the buyout to either pay the first few months or as a cap cost reduction. If he sells it directly to the co worker it would be like any other private sale but since it’s a 2019 there can’t be much wrong with it. I wonder how much sales tax could be avoided if the dealer handled the transaction.
I don’t think the co worker would stiff him since they work together.

highly unlikely these days that a dealer would do a courtesy pass-through deal to avoid the first purchase.
probably not worth trying.

Just another observation, I know NIssan transmissions are notorious for being unreliable. But, knowing this one is a CVT, it amazes me how it has a hard 1-2 shift. This is software controlled, right? Someone needs to find a new software team.
Doors sound like they’re made of aluminum foil when you close them.
The times I’ve rented through Enterprise, it’s clear they’re recruiting recent college grads who are trying to claw their way up the corporate ladder and more focused on customer service. Hertz? Not sure where they recruited from, but their folks were surly, at best, and pushed extra insurance…HARD….vs Enterprise.
Had some family over last night and we all watched Maverick in our theater room (day of digital release) We all universally loved it. Not sure if was nostalgia because we all love Top Gun or if it was just a great movie.
The camera work and video quality were fantastic. I thought the audio could have been better, but I’ll probably wait to see how it is on BluRay. Comcast’s streaming isn’t always the best with the soundtrack. Having said that, for the home theater buffs here this is a much watch at reference volumes.
After that we headed back down the shore in the new truck. Kids approved and slept the whole way.

California to Ban the Sale of New Gasoline Cars
The decision, to take effect by 2035, will very likely speed a wider transition to electric vehicles because many other states follow California’s standards.
Already paid a bill for July and actually for April-June, too. Builder didn't pay it.
My electric rate is 6.67 cents per KWH.
In CT, we were paying just over 12 per KWH with many line item adjustments.
Final bill was $140 for electric usage but total due was $303!
Not sure how Natural Gas is going to compare.
Just paid that bill too and avoided shutoff. Obviously builder didn't pay that one either.
Waiting for a copy of the last statement to see the details.
Saw a headline that natural gas will be through the roof too. Last year it was already up over 100% from the year prior

The soundtrack was pretty impressive in the XD and Dolby theaters where I saw Maverick. I reserved the Maverick 4K UHD Blu-Ray steelbook a couple of days after I saw it; I should get it in early November.
FWIW, the Ford vs. Ferrari 4K UHD Blu-Ray has an outstanding Dolby TrueHD 7.1 soundtrack. The scene where Shelby buzzes the tower at the launch of the 1965 Mustang is a good clip to use to showcase your HTS.

I’m sure it has to do with Comcast’s signal more than anything. Blu-Ray always sounds better than streamed content from Comcast.

I used the info that was provided. Namely 22K miles and 3 days and I used exactly 22K miles and 3 full 24 hour days. That yields for all practical purposes 305 MPH.
I don’t know what data you used but if you were privy to something else give me those numbers and I’d probably come to the same MPH that you calculated.
It really ain’t that difficult of a problem.

Hertz? “We’ll get to you when we get to you”. I was in Hertz’s Presidents Circle, which was supposed to be their top tier. Wasn’t expecting anything from them. They never disappointed.
Aside from an upgrade every once in a while, they were the exact opposite of Enterprise.

2024 Genesis G90 Super-Charger
Drove the new Genesis G90 yesterday. What a car!!! But the MSRP was over $90,000 and that’s for the base model. That’s an increase in MSRP of $15,000 over my 2021 and since they are not discounting them and getting $2,000 over MSRP for them, that’s $22,000 more than I paid 15 months ago for my G90.
They have priced the new G90 close to the BMW 740i and $17,000 below the MB S500.
But I think the new G90 is way better than the competition - car is more responsive with the standard AWD. The new Audio System is the same as the optional Audio Systems in the completion vehicles. The interior is exquisite and the quietness of the ride on the highway is almost eerie. Seats are superbly comfortable and the car handles like a sports sedan. Horsepower is now 375 (up 10 from previous model). Styling is awesome.
But it’s way above what I would spend for a car and my 2021 has only 8500 miles on it. But it is a fantastic vehicle!

According to what I heard it stated that she drove 36,482 kilometers in 68 hours. Which is an average speed of 536.5 KPH or 333.3656 MPH (or 22,668.86 miles in 68 hours). This is about three times the top speed of a Yukon Denali, the vehicle she rented.

Good to hear you’ll be saving more than just a few bucks with your auto insurance but I think they have an Ohio clause that states they only pay for about half of at fault accidents. Check with our Ohio poster buddies to get the full details about how it works.
FWIW, a couple months ago I got a call from the new insurance agency that will now be handling my insurance. Same company but different agent because that guy retired and sold his biz. Anyway, the lady that told me I could save 300 bucks a year and have slightly better coverage since if been with that company for many years. So she wanted to know if I wanted her to make the changes. So to have some fun I told her, “no, I want to pay the higher rate with less coverage”. There’s a long pause and in a very surprised tone she says, “ARE YOU SERIOUS”? To which I said, “why would you even ask”? Her response was, “it’s just a matter of company policy since your coverage will be changing”. So I’m now saving money on insurance but I can’t afford to feed our 2 gas hogs unless I dip into that insurance savings. There otta be a law that you’re allowed to come out ahead sometimes.

I’ve been looking for an old generation (2011 and prior) Ford Ranger without success. Everything out there is to old, to beat, too rusty or too expensive. Consequently, I’ve never even driven one.
Today I got my chance. We were tasked to pick up a Ranger from a local muffler shop that had been using it as a shop vehicle. Ultra long term lease I guess. I assumed it would be a newer one 2019+ but it turned out to be a 2010 XL 2.3L auto with only 57k miles. Stripper model, crank windows and manual adjust mirrors. No electronics other than am/fm radio.
This thing had led a rough life. The bed was dented everywhere. Seats were ripped and the gear shift indicator didn’t work. Despite the defects it ran and shifted well. The ride was noticeably truck-like but I could tolerate it.
This would have made a great new hooptie if I hadn’t noticed rust bubbling from the rockers. Still I wonder what deal I could work out with the company.

Buying out of state but having a CA address wouldn't work.
