Definitely not underwater on the Rex. Would need to check payoff but I should be $5k-$6k positive.
Ford would need to be ordered I’m sure. @stickguy can share what the discount was from Chapman, if any. But I know it isn’t over msrp.

Buy a Maverick before @breld buys them all up!

@qbrozen, there is a guy on the Maverick board who has swapped either a larger turbo from the 2.3 EcoBoost, or the entire engine, I'm not sure which. That might be even more to your liking, coming from a WRX!
Remind me which trim you got.
I would have thought the XLT would be more to my liking, but then saw the XLT doesn't add anything I find necessary. In the F150 I had, the XL to XLT change the driver's seat, and that turned out to be necessary for me since the base seat sucked. But, in the Mav, the XL and XLT both come with a 6-way manual seat.

Performance-wise, as I've noted, the 2.0T EcoBoost will get you to 60 in about six seconds on premium. No launch technique is required at all on the AWD--I tried brake torquing it at about 2,500 RPM, and it made no difference. XL and XLT have 17" wheels--steelies on the XL and aluminum on the XLT.
In terms of irritations, the worst for me is that the CarPlay and Bluetooth audio streaming integration is extremely buggy, despite my running current software on both phone and the Mav. The door seals aren't great in crosswinds. The ride quality is notably better than my dad's Ranger, and I think the driving dynamics are outstanding for its $25k-ish price point.
I still need to add my dashcam and put a coat of Zaino on it. After using it for road trips, I think the next mod beyond that will be to add a power tailgate lock so that I can throw luggage under the tonneau and have the tailgate lock everything up (the tonneau releases require you to lower the tailgate).
plus it helps that I am a big Maverick fan. and you will fit just fine.

no clue how many orders they have, or if they still have allocations to use (if orders > allocations you will never get built). But you can contact Ed Simpson at the philly branch and ask what they are doing.
in terms of trims, they are actually building fewer XL models than XLT (by a lot IIRC). so more likely to never see it built. Also, other than the seat fabric and a few niceties, the biggest difference on the XLT is you can get the luxury package. Among other things, that gives you a power driver's seat (though it is only 6 ways) which might be important to you.
I have not been following too closely but I think there are some ecoboosts floating around as stock availability and some dealers are doing MSRP on in-stock units too. Or of course, you can go negotiate. Plus your trade changes the dynamics. But I would poke around to see if you can find a dealer that actually has one on the lot. Or a slightly used one maybe (heck, Carvana has a boatload, see if they want your WRX enough to make the deal work).

Then we headed to a Ford dealer to look at a Bronco there. As you may recall, we have our Heritage edition scheduled to be built later this year, but this local dealer had one mostly like our last one, but in the nicer Outer Banks trim. It also has the V6, while our ordered one was spec’d with the 4 cylinder. Anyhow, the one at the dealer was already advertised around $2k off sticker, but with add-ons for tint and clear bra. We took a look at it and said we’d consider it, but have to decide if we want to wait for the Heritage Edition. The manager said they were motivated to move it and took another $1k off and “waived” the charges for the tint and clear bra. So a legitimate $3k off a brand new Bronco. Market is cooling a bit?
Very coincidental, on the way to that Ford dealer, we passed a new Heritage Edition in the cactus gray like our order and it was very cool. So likely will simply wait for that. Plus we should be eligible for all the price protection on it.

I’ve only test driven one once before, and it’s been several years. I was pleasantly surprised (and pleased) with how civilized it was overall, at least compared to my expectations. The shift feel was crisp and it was an easy manual to drive. I found it fun to drive in traffic at slower speeds as well as when the road opened up, largely due to the throaty sound of the V8. Lots of character and very different from anything else I’ve owned.

I’ve not had any issues with door seals in 18 months of ownership. And the infotainment has been fine. Very rarely I might need to reset after doing something that confuses it but out Acura does the same thing.
2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.
I think the door seals are just flimsy or inadequately designed, causing the wind noise in crosswinds--probably okay for a $25k vehicle, but at the $40k plus sticker of a fully loaded one, I would be more annoyed.
My C43 and the previous generation Mustang have the digital display built into a conventional instrument binnacle.
Of course, in the case of BMW the display graphics themselves are a joke; hard to read at a glance and with essentially no configuration options.

I think a 340 would feel very sporty to the majority of drivers. Super quick in a straight line and handles well enough to be fun.

That reminds me of when Mrs. j and I were only married for a few months and we were invited to a party where we only knew a few couples but figured what the heck. After about and hour one married guy asked us, “is this your your first date”? Turns out he was only married for a few months and he and his wife’s heads seemed to bob joyously in unison to whatever question they were asked. It takes time I guess to be your own person.

When I lived in SC from ‘92 to end of ‘96, between 3 cars I think I went through 4 batteries. All of those cars had the top of the line battery from K-Mart that were bought in PA before moving South. When the first battery died it was still under warranty so of course I went to K-Mart. They still had pretty good rated batteries and when I asked the guy if the one he was giving me had the same CCA, he said it did but he goes on to say, “CCA down here aren’t as important as up North because you won’t be starting your car in 0 degree weather down here but it will cook a lot more in our Summer heat. That’s what killed this battery. Down here you want a battery that can take the heat and that’s what you’re getting now. This battery has a much higher heat rating than your old battery. In fact, I don’t think K-Mart sells this battery up North”.
I learned from text books that heat kills at least as many batteries as cold weather. Now I was living it first hand.

Unless I find a toy, or my wife really does sign off on trading her RDX for a convertible (and I can find one) I may not be buying again for many years. Switched to CHBA instead (chronic house buying). Though that will also take car if the discretionary $ for car shopping!

Not that I can justify one. RDX 41 months old and is a tick under 22k miles (and for close to 18 months it was our only car), and the maverick is going on 5 months and sitting at about 2800 miles. And day one it had 300 from bringing it home!

In lieu of coding, you can just unplug the little connector on the negative battery terminal that allows the computer to monitor it, and then it behaves just like any other car in the world.
Well, if they ban you then you and I will be leaving on the same bus. As shown in my signature line the newest car we have is Mrs. j’s 2018 Subie and my 2015 Genny will be shaving soon by some standards set in here.
We only need 1 car now so my youngest grandson the car wrecker (he’s the one that put his Mini out of commission trying to move a landscape boulder avoiding a deer while delivering pizza), wants me to sell both cars and buy a new one. Being we’re moving into Winter around here pretty soon, even if I do get another car, it won’t be now.
Kinda got used to keeping the Genny away from snow flakes and grains of salt.

FWIW, I had to put a new battery in my ‘15 Genny this past Friday. I knew the battery was in the trunk so I went on line to see what was involved in changing it. On the positive terminal there are 2 small connectors that have to be removed. The video, while pretty good, did not say what they were for and I was guessing one or both might have something to do with computer inputs of some kind.
I called the Interstate Battery outfit not far from me to get a price on the battery. Their price was the same for either carry out or for them to install it.
I wasn’t feeling all that great on Friday (recovering from groin hernia surgery last Tuesday), so Son #1 took the car in for the new battery to be installed. It made no sense installing it myself, plus didn’t have to go through taking the old battery back to get the old battery deposit back. A couple ticks over 300 bucks all in with tax.
BTW, that is one BIG battery, I never saw a battery that long before so glad no one had to schlep that sucker around.

I'm sure some of the bill was due to having to sync up the Battery Management System to the new battery.
All new vehicles seem to have them. Not sure if you kept the battery on a charger, but 8 years is pretty good.
