I am tempted to look at the 5 also.

parked next to a newer 330 BMW today at dinner. Pointed it out to the wife as something to consider. She hated the color (burnt orange, I like it) but said the car looked fine.

I did not get a chance to drive it, but at the wedding last weekend one of my son's friends was there who has a GR Corolla. we were talking about it and he offered to let me drive it. I did not then since it was night and we had a few beers down and never got a chance the rest of the weekend. But he only lives about 15 minutes from us, so someday will get a chance!

He loves it. previously had a beater miata and Boxster, and a new GTI. So he has a type! I was pitching it to the wife =: "it's a 4 door hatchback Toyota Corolla! super practical". She might have been skeptical.

There is a house in our neighborhood that had a GR Corolla parked in the driveway.

Noticed this past week it had been replaced by a CTR.

So, what I’m hearing is the dealer either over paid for the Acura and is trying to get his money out of it, or the dealer is trying to make a killing thinking the car is more special than it is. @tifighter should be able to clear this up.

Okay, I just looked. There are 3 2022 Type S Advance for sale in my area. Range is $55-58k. This one is the lowest mile car (and nicest) of the three.

I got 53 on trade, so they were swinging for a home run initially, and priced it at $63k. They’ve been making tiny markdowns since, but it’s been a slow ride to get here. Escalade sales must be good.

BTW- for context, MSRP for a S Advance is around $75k

I might take a wander by the Honda dealer to see if they have an Si. I actually looked at them at one point (I think before I got the Elantra sport?) and really liked it. Other than the seats not being great IIRC. But that was the prior generation. The Integra could serve the same purpose of course, with the nice Acura upgrades (and the wife likes her Acuras!)

I have zero need for the type R or Integra S versions. the regular model it just fine for us.

I want to like the Integra. It looks nice and is an overall nice package and size. But it is overpriced and lacks equipment on the base and A-Spec trim levels. No rear AC vents on any. Not a fan of vinyl upholstery on the back seat and different upholstery up front on the tech. At the least, a manual transmission should be available on the A-Spec as well as dual ac controls.

Fisker (yes, that Fisker) was selling Wallbox Plus Pulsar chargers for $250, which is substantially less than they normally sell for, but they're sold out now. I thought about ordering one, but it wasn't a hardwired model and has a NEMA 14-50 plug. Most EV owners seem to prefer hardwired chargers, and some of those schlepping around OEM chargers with 240v plugs report that the plugs at their house have melted because they're not designed to have things plugged in and unplugged on a regular basis.

The MSRP of the 23 ST wasn't a whole lot higher than when it was introduced in 2020.
Mine listed for just under 60. I could have done wthout the pano roof but they all have them.
Probably a special order to not get the roof option.
I looked at them in 2020 but didn't want to spend that much.
My 2017 F-150 had an MSRP of 68+ but I got a huge discount.

Farmer, that is pretty. Probably a giant money pit but still nice. Got me excited that it was right in Scotia (I was surprised to see a dealer like that over there) until I looked at the end to discover they are in Bridgeport, Ct. Need to send Bradd up there to do any shopping!

I went car shopping with my older sister in 1988. She first wanted a Civic, but those were still going at close to list price at the time, and so for something like $2k less she got a 323 sedan 5-speed manual in red. Lower list price plus c. 1500 off list. That was a fun car to drive, and very functional (as you say, big trunk for a car that size). Was reliable too. She kept it for almost 15 years with just routine maintenance, and then sold it to a neighbor kid.

I also had a 1988 323. Couldn’t afford a Civic then! Loved that car. Drove it forever and taught my son how to drive a manual transmission with that car. Eventually replaced it with a used ‘95 Civic, also MT.

IIRC, 138 hp from a DOHC, 16v turbo. AWD with a 50/50 split and a lockable center diff.

Factory wheels were BBS.

Nice solid sunroof with a manual crank.

I actually think that price seems pretty good for the MDX…but I’m also a sucker for the silver over blue interior.

I didn’t realize you could get the Explorer ST brand new in the $50k’s…it’s been a while since I’ve test driven one, but I was really impressed when I did. A neighbor of mine just picked one up and it catches my eye.

Ioniq 5 is such a great EV…the “N” model is getting all the attention right now, but the “regular” version is no slouch.

Finally…I believe we’re almost through the Tesla fiasco after my wife finally was able to get on the phone with someone. They took the vehicle back in July but seemed to have forgotten they need to pay off the lease also.

I bought my Celebrity used in 1987. I was coming from a Dodge Omni so it seemed like a step up. The Eurosport trim was actually not bad for the malaise era. It had better handling than the standard model and a peppier engine. I found this out when a blown head gasket ruined the engine and I replaced it with a regular 2.8L junkyard motor out of a station wagon. Ran fine but noticeably less power.

The Eurosport wasn't a bad car, I just thought the owner was making an apples to oranges comparison. My wife had a 1984 Skylark T Type when we got married and it wasn't a bad drive.

Bought a 1988 Corolla FX hatchback for the bargain price of $8K otd, silver over black. Probably foolish since we had three in car seats with my son not even a year old, but needed a good commuter car to get to work. And we had the '85 Cutlass Supreme 4-door for family duties, a very nice vehicle, top of the line, that my in-laws gifted us.
Loved that little FX though it had a section of paint over the hatch that was scratched and they never fixed it right. But had it through the end of 1997 when I got a Corolla DX which was needed as the kids got bigger. Another great commuter vehicle for me, bought used. The rear window actuator wasn't working so since it had just about 17K on the clock, brought it right to the Toyota store which fixed it that same day!

We had 3 young kids in the ‘88 323 also. But we also had a Dodge minivan. The 323 had 4 doors which I considered a plus at the time. And working heat and AC which our previous vehicle lacked. Oh those old days! We have such nicer vehicles now!

Looks like some nice tweaks for its mid-model refresh. The lack of a rear wiper on the 2022-24 models was a common complaint in reviews. I didn’t see any word on pricing in the press release.

The rear wiper is definitely the big news, but I also like the updates with some added controls on the center console and new wheel designs.

That's a pretty tall frame. My old Peugeot is a 25" lugged (brazed) frame. I needed to take it in 25 or so years ago to have a fairly major repair done involving new dropouts for the rear wheel, and the mechanic took great pleasure in pointing out the old-school stuff, and that was then. He did beautiful work, and in a perfect world I'd be able to sell it to someone with a similar appreciation -- not likely.

I bought my Raleigh Grand Prix in 1973 (even back then I leaned towards imports); I had a local bicycle shop restore it in 2014 and they did an outstanding job. I still love to ride it.

I am fairly certain I got whatever was on sale at Toys R Us at the time. Other than my earlier red Huffy with red mag wheels that lasted me from training wheels up into my tweens, I don’t recall the make of any other bike I’ve owned.

I had a Schwinn when we were in Ohio that I absolutely loved. There are a lot of bike trails that you can ride for hours through beautiful scenery. Until the day another biker, not paying attention, ploughed right into me — one of those occasions where you see the oncoming collision at the last second but can’t do a thing about it. Broke both wrists, bike a crumpled mass. Kinda did it for my bicycling days, sadly.

My last bike was the Schwinn stingray but I found the big 26” bicycle was better because you had to pedal the 20” stingray like mad to get any speed. This was back when only the upper level elites in my neighborhoods had skinny tires and multiple gears.
