He waives me on and said he will figure it out. Well they never figured it out because the next morning I had an email that the reservation was cancelled. When I returned the car they couldn’t check it in and I never paid a dime for the rental.

Wonder how long before they realized that brand new 4XE was missing ?

But I learned not everyone knew about cleaning that filter. In all years of owning Maytag, Whirlpool, and Whirlpool dishwashers, I never knew.

My filter was caked with a layer of waxy stuff which I think is part of the dishwashing powder I use. I occasionally add Dawn to the powder, sort of like adding Sea Foam to your gasoline to clean your engine or adding an oil additive (which aren't needed with today's oils). But I guess that didn't work. There I brought it back to car-related items...

Man, that is a stringent driving instruction & experience process Colorado makes young drivers go through. I don’t know what we have here these days but I’m pretty sure it is far less than that.

But just like here, I’m pretty sure based upon what I smell while driving around that those new young drivers think they can get high on weed and not have it affect their driving skills at all. It seems epidemic here.

I thought NJ was strict. I think they require 4 hours behind the wheel with a pro before you can get a learners permit to go out with any adult. And pass the written test. Then it was a year probational IIRC before they could take a road test to get a drive solo license.

In Indiana, you just show em you can fire up the John Deere, and you get a permit.. at 15 years old.

It's a dilemma. The Bosch I like and that has good ratings is $1500+ 15% tax in worthless Canadian dollars. There are cheaper Bosch ones in the $900 to $1100 range but their reviews are surprisingly meh. Then I pivoted to KitchenAid/Whirlpool models in the same $900-$1100 range that seem mostly identical to each other and which had good ratings up to about a year or so back only to discover that recent builds all have the same problem, a vent that leaks water, not good, and which techs are presently unable to fix, so they're out. Now I'm down to 2 models that are about the same price, around $900, an LG and a Frigidaire. Both have great reviews on the websites. The sales guy at HD really talked up the LG. I'm dithering.

You'll be a lot happier with the Bosch.. just do it.

New skins for the Legacy.

I didn't like the ones that came with the car - Yokohama Avid GT. They were a little slippery in rain.

It depends on what kind of cookies and donuts they have in the waiting room.
My MB dealer has a large screen TV, a cafe with top notch coffee, and made-in-house sandwiches and soup, and wi-fi, I'd rather stay and get it all done.
Getting brakes done about 10% earlier than necessary isn't a big cost savings.
Don't put off until tomorrow, what you can probably get done today.

I never really thought of it before but with all the goodie’s luxo dealers provide maybe their thinking is to get customers to come in for service more often. Maybe even lessen the sting when the customer is presented with their bill.

6 hours now. And it has to be accredited, which means $$, of course.

When I was a young’in, we got instruction in high school. A couple of weeks of twice-weekly gym classes in verbal instruction, then what should have been I think 4 weeks behind the wheel. My instructor sent me back to gym class after 2 times behind the wheel. He said he could take a nap with me driving and needed to instead dedicate more time to the others who were continuously trying to kill the rest of us.

Dishwashers - I had a Bosch at my old house, convinced my parents to buy a Bosch, and got the cheapest Bosch for the house I currently live in. No reliability issues with any of them and they are super quiet.

The old dishwasher at my current house was a Kenmore and the plastic tub at the bottom began leaking. Apparently that was a common issue with the model I had. I would argue that not dumping water on the floor is more important than doing a decent job of cleaning dishes.

My younger son who after a disastrous start became so proficient that when he went to drivers Ed the instructor told him he should just go take his road test.

I am largely over the return engagement in the business world. Just been a crazy year end season that is draining the life out of me most days. Just hoping to make it to January and hope that it settles down after the big book of new clients go live on 1/1 and become someone else's problem! I could really see a work for yourself kind of gig being a lot more enjoyable. If you have a skill you can sell that someone wants to buy;

Good to hear. That seems to be the consensus of posters here.

It's supposed to be wet here today. I'm going to go to the couple of places where I could feel the former tires sliding sideways (even though these are new) and see what the result is. If you don't hear back from me, the test was not successful.

But corporations really work those people with eager eyes. Fresh out of college I applied for an assistant manager position at a quicky mark chain. They told me to expect 60 hour weeks minimum with no overtime.

Fast forward, my company has management trainees working long hours for less than spectacular pay in hopes of making it up the defined promotion chain which requires frequent moves to other cities. Some can’t see making that as a life choice so after a few years they move on with what I’m told is a plum addition to their resume’.

These days neither of those choices has any appeal to me.

Suggestions for a leather cleaner to remove some blue transferred from my jeans on the light gray in the Arteon. I have some Mothers and Armor All, but doesn’t remove all of it.

Suggestions for a leather cleaner to remove some blue transferred from my jeans on the light gray in the Arteon. I have some Mothers and Armor All, but doesn’t remove all of it.

I know you’re going to be afraid to try this but when all else failed on the white vinyl seats of my ‘75 Grand Prix, I used Comet then quickly washed it off. I know you have leather so try the Comet on an inconspicuous spot. Denim stains, on anything, usually requires some bleach along with some grit. Then use some leather conditioner.

If you didn’t try my suggestion let us what worked for you.

I'd try a gentle brush to agitate whatever cleaner you wind up using.

Meguiars Gold Class Leather Conditioner. This worked on the leather portions and the
vinyl portions of Malibu's leather seats. I just rubbed it on and let it sit for several minutes,
then wiped it off with terry cloth.

True confessions, the first time it happened, I accidentally used Mother's Carnauba Wax
that was in a glass jar (the plastic bottle had cracked). It worked just fine as well. I thought
that was my Meguiars Leather stuff.

First cold weather of the season tomorrow, should get down to 51 Thursday night! Now, that's cold for us in South Florida. Then followed by about a week of cooler nights. This is weather I can live with!! Love when we can turn the a/c unit off.

I second Meguire’s from past experience.
I currently have Griot’s and tried it yesterday in the Alfa to less than stellar results.

I'm glad to report that the new tires are much better than the old ones. I went to 2 places where I could feel the old ones slipping sideways and nothing happened.

We had that problem with our 2001 Nissan Maxima, also a light grey interior. I learned to live with it, otherwise I’d always be cleaning it. It settled into a light blue-grey eventually, not too bad!

Bless you for doing the Wally World gig. When I retired I dreaded the prospect of working there in retirement. I was the “guy” when it came to teaching family members to drive. I really enjoyed that. Seeing a young person going from scared to start the engine to passing the road test on the first try was very rewarding.
I'm not "retired" - officially, at least. I'm still putting out applications, but I'm not getting a lot of traction.

I received a call from a headhunter a few weeks ago saying that they found my resume online. If they found my resume online it is almost 20 years old. Anyway since I am retiring in 3 years 0 months and 10 days I decided not to look for another full time job ever. Anyway I could see the interviewer asking where do I see myself in 5 years and me replying "Fishing". I think that would kill the interview right there and then.

For us too. Heavy rain with temps in the 40s and snow in higher elevations. And the boss says we’ll be starting with a nice country drive through the mountains to Burlington.

Careful, after that length of time it might be a scammer who is making random calls hoping to snag somebody actively looking for work. BTW, where would your resume hang around for 20 years and wouldn’t someone looking at it wonder why you haven’t done anything since 2004?

I had that problem with the gray leather on a Ford Escape I bought for some odd reason. I finally just sat on a towel. That's one of the reasons I only had it for 6 months.

OK, here is my question, why is it that apparently some cars do not have gas pedals?

Well, I was thinking that the questions would be related to my post, but apparently not with this crowd.

If the car has hand controls for a paraplegic driver, then no gas pedal is necessary. I went to college with a guy whose legs were paralyzed in a rodeo accident as a teenager, and he drove a Regal Type-S (not the ultra fast one) that had hand controls.

Well last time I was job hunting I was putting my resume out at job sites, and once out on the internet it's out there until Skynet takes over our self driving cars and kills us all. So it's not unlikely that someone could find my old one. As to not having done anything for 20 years my dad only worked for one company from getting out of the Army and retiring and I have two sisters who only worked for one company after getting out of school (both retired now).
