Good to have you still here with us GG. Your post with a description of what happened was exceptionally clear and told exceptionally well. Hope that was a one off thing.....maybe get one of those medical alert buttons you can wear just in case.
@graphicguy, that was quite the scare. Hope you’re as good as new by tomorrow afternoon. Why? You did buy a car but had it delivered to me. When all goes well I’ll have it shipped to you when you’re ready.
Good luck and give us daily updates.

Thursday night felt inordinately tired early in the evening. Unusual for me but I went to bed bout 9:30 p.m. Developed a blinding headache. Started feeling dizzy. Shortly thereafter, I realized I couldn't move and then became very nauseous upchucking all over the bed. Freaked, because I couldn't even say " Siri" to tell my iPhone on the night table to call 911.
I remember thinking, I have a brain aneurism. This is it. This is how my lights are turned out. I don't know the amount of time that transpired, but I remember time not being something I was aware of. Finally, I was able to yell "Siri dial 911". The speaker on the phone came on and I heard a dispatcher. Don't know how I communicated, but I was able to tell them I needed help because I couldn't move. They told me my address, which I confirmed with a weak "uh huh". ...fire truck, ambulance, the whole shebang with lights and sirens penetrated the house.
My doors were locked. They asked me the code to my garage door but I couldn't communicate that to them. Not sure why. They ended up busting in the front door. I "Squeak-yelled" my location (upstairs and to the rear of the house). They tried to get me on a gurney but was dead weight as I still couldn't move. Another EMT person helped put me on a gurney, asked me questions (which I could not answer). One gave me some sort of IV (they told me what it was, but they could have well just said it was peanut butter as I don't recall). Loaded me up, and while they were doing so, I remember seeing all the lights from the firetruck and ambulance lighting up my cul-de-sac. Remember neighbors kind of hovering around.
I do remember the bumpy ride to the hospital.
Got there, again more questions that I did not have the capacity to answer. Drs (nurses) swarmed, machines were hooked up to me. Lots of whirs, buzzes and beeps ensued. I recall getting a shot in my belly (later found out it was a drug to dissolve blood clots) At some point, my son showed up. He later told me he freaked that he got a call from the hospital as he's listed as my emergency contact (something I listed a long time ago and forgot about).
Finally got my speech back. Still was wobbly all day Friday and could not stand. Saturday, they got me sitting up in a chair. Yesterday I started walking and was discharged last night.
Diagnosis? Combination of "mini stroke" and "vestibular vertigo" combined. As best I can tell, I'm walking OK, at least not wobbly. Little direction corrections I notice I have to make. Headaches are 1/10th of what they were but still there. Speech is getting better and better, to the point my son says he can't tell a difference (although internally I can tell I'm putting a huge effort in to say certain words). I think my son maybe trying to minimize my concern. Obviously my fingers work as I'm. typing this.
They (Drs) say with therapy and meds I should be "OK". Therapy starts today in home. They don't want me to drive until the therapists give me their battery of tests and clear me.
The majority of what transpired Thursday/Friday I don't remember. They said that's not unusual. Hell, I could have bought a new car and don't remember. I should probably look in the garage to make sure.
Scared the living s#!t out of me but I'm still here to tell the tale. Feeling quite fortunate as a matter of fact.
Those TIAs are nothing to sneeze at. My father had several before the big one that took him out. I hope you make a full recovery and they can set you up with proper medications so it doesn’t happen again.

Appreciate the kind words. Every day's a little better. Speech is back. A little wobbly walking but better every day. Therapist says I'll only take a couple more visits and I should be fine. Was cleared yesterday for the hip replacement. So, that's happening Friday.
I've been around here too long to just leave you all hanging in here by yourself. Will have PLENTY of time to wander these hallowed Edmunds Halls and post ad nauseam after surgery.
When the hell did we all get to the age in here that this s#!t started happening?
One day we're all wheeling and dealing, swapping in and out of vehicles like they're baseball cards and the next, we're being fed apple sauce by a nurse. What the hell????!!!!!
This is sort of on the forum's favorite subject of dishwashers, but only partially. I am declaring the kitchen reno as "done" and thought you'd like to see a few pics. It is really good-looking and works even better thanks to a new layout and more space. I have come to love soft-close doors and drawers and having my pantry items all in pull-out drawers instead of buried in the back of cabinets. And the new Bosch dishwasher is super-quiet.

That looks really good. Does Lucy the Cat approve?
It was funny. She is very cautious with strangers in the house and usually hides from them, but with these guys being here for days at a time she became more comfortable and would let them be nice to her (cats!). Then when they left for the day she would immediately go into the workspace and inspect the changes. The day they installed the lower cabinet boxes without doors, after they left she instantly did an inspection tour of the inside of every box. Now it seems to meet with her approval.
The original kitchen in these small houses was really small, almost like a NYC studio apartment kitchen. It had been reno'ed within that original footprint at least a couple of times, once by the owner I bought it from, once after I first bought it, but it was just too small. The house itself is pretty compact, less then 1000 sq ft on the main level, though with the basement finished you pick up an extra bedroom and bath plus a laundry so call it 1400 sq ft total, plenty for me, or for a first house for someone after I go. The neighborhood is good too, backing onto a golf course, so it holds its value and is worth putting some money into. The kitchen was adjacent to a dining room which I never used for that so this reno combined the two spaces into one to give the kitchen part more room while still keeping an eating area.
I've already done a bunch of energy efficiency upgrades with added insulation, new windows, heat pump replacing the furnace, etc. Just by poor timing the last big thing is happening this week as new siding is going on the outside to replace the dated '70 aluminum stuff which was very tired, with iso foam board underneath for added insulation. I'm not planning on leaving any time soon but after not spending much at all other than a couple of roofs in the first 20 years living here it was time. All I have to do after this week is get the garage painted to match the new outside color and I should be done.
@ab348 - Your kitchen is drop dead gorgeous! I love the light blue lower cabinets with the gold pull handles & stainless steel appliances. So elegant!
Thanks! I got the idea from this FB ad I kept seeing - I think it was from Ruggable - in that exact combo. I had never seen that before but I did some searching online and it seemed to be the latest thing that wasn't too outlandish. I knew I wanted a lighter color kitchen but I didn't want all white and I didn't want gray. I went to the Benjamin Moore store down the road and they guy there was very helpful, giving me a bunch of color chips. The pale blue is called Yarmouth Blue and the off-white cabinet color is White Dove. The wall color coordinates with it and is called Calm. I wasn't sure about the brushed gold hardware but it goes great with it all.
I'm intrigued by the Bronco Sport. They have a Heritage model that can be had in traditional 1960s Ford pastel blue with white grille, roof and wheels that I like. The only thing that would concern me is that unless you go for the top-level trim they all have a 1.5L 3-cylinder under the hood.
Love the kitchen! You have a nice big one. Redoing a kitchen is such a quality of life upgrade. I have a tiny one, and the re-do has made a huge difference.
@graphicguy - glad you are on the mend. Sounds like an interesting few days.
Yeah, no doubt! Very glad you were able to get the call out for help so as to keep swapping tales with us a little (LOT?!) longer, GG!

I like the blue! The muted counter pattern is similar to the quartz I had installed in 2021 when I bought the house.
I just finished up a bathroom improvement, walk in shower conversion. I was talking about tile to a friend and mentioned I like blue. I was told not to.

If the concern is broad appeal for resale, that means white or gray. I’m not concerned about that.
The quartz is a LG product called Solace from their commercial line for some reason. The counter place said they sold a lot of it. It is slightly off white as well with a very subtle pattern in it. Most others I was shown were pure white and some had overdone veining.
We went to the indianapolis zoo and an Indians baseball game and got ducked again. Someone has a 3D printer because the chest of the duck has the wrangler grille and headlights.
@ab348 Are the ceiling soffits and can lights new, as well? It's very attractive
Yes, thank you. There were a few issues there. Part of the ceiling in the dining area end of the space had an ugly 1970s/80s, likely homeowner-applied texture finish that they originally thought would be difficult to remove. The attic above has about a foot of cellulose in it which would have made running new wires up there difficult. So they came up with that suggestion and used the dropped areas as wiring chases for the lights. I wasn’t crazy about it at first but now don’t mind it at all. And as it turned out the texture came off once they found the right tool so they eliminated it in the LR too which was something I had wanted to have happen for a long time. The ceiling lights are all new LED ones, dimmable and adjustable for light temperature. They replaced some 25 y-o halogen track lights.
The other thing that was at the top of my list of to-dos was removal of the abandoned chimney which ran though one side of the kitchen. The space is so small that every bit of space helps so removal of the 24”x24” intrusion was a good thing. I was amazed that they did it all in an afternoon.

A couple of things reminded me of the extent to which todays drivers have been dumbed down... Example 1: A guy is griping on the C43 FB posted, "Any solution to why the C43 is jerky when changing gear and slowing down? Especially on sports + mode" Everyone has explained to the guy that Sport+ mode is not intended for use in stop-and-go traffic, but he continues to complain- even insulting anyone who doesn't agree with him. At this point the rest of us are hoping that he completely loses his cool and either leaves or gets banned.
Example 2: On the Wrangler 4xe forum a lady stared the thread: "TOTAL SCAM - This vehicle will NEVER get 49 MPG ever ..." Of course, the Monroney states 49 MPGe- not mpg. The lady won't admit she didn't understand what MPGe is and goes on to complain about the limited EV range and that she filed a complaint with the FTC.
I replied that the thread reminded me of when I was looking at a set of Audio-Technica headphones on Amazon, All of the reviews were great except that someone had given the headphones 2 stars-, the reason being the guy "thought that the headphones were cordless but they aren't." The next reply was priceless: "So basically what you are really saying is that your reading skill should be rated at two stars."

Seems like they are going way over the rated tow capacity to though. But I guess flat ground and 5 MPH is not going to tax it too much.
Seems like an application for a full EV though.
