And, you looked at the Equinox? You really are dithering, my friend.
Wow, an Equinox vs. a Camry? That’s worlds apart in terms of reliability. Just the timing chain issues alone with the Equinox would frighten me away from that one. The only thing the Equinox has over the Camry to my mind is the ease of egress. Camry is low to the ground.

Is it because you really don’t want it, but know it’s the right choice?
Way back when I leased the Elantra I struggled with that. At the time it was the best choice with two children still in preschool (basically another mortgage payment) but not something I really wanted. Turned out to the absolute perfect car for three years.
I was texting with @breld last night about his new purchase. It's amazing how many Subaru dealers he drove past to get to the one where he purchased - way on the other side of Denver from where we live.
@Michaell & @oldfarmer50 - The Equniox isn't for me. It is for my sister who has a GLC300 4Matic lease maturing next month.
She works in a dental office. One of the patients works for GM Financial. He offered to go with her after she test drove the Equinox and get her a "Friends & Family" supplier discount and a healthcare worker rebate. I'm waiting to get the particulars, but an Equniox LT came out to $1,500 DAS & $385/Month for 36/15K.
I suggested she test drive a Rogue. Aronochi on LH has some insane deals on them.

Not a bad deal on the Equinox, but the lease programs aren't that great.
I do like the Rogue - had one as a rental while the Outback was getting some body work done.

Yes, though it was not noticable. Plenty of pickup for the driving that I do. Wife had a short ride in it and commented favorably - I think that's what prompted her to convince her daughter to trade in the MINI for something more "mature" and comfortable.
The Kia is way more comfortable to ride in or drive than the Outback - could be that the Outback is 10 years old.

I’ve seen a few videos saying stay away from the 2.4L because of chain issues. Actually, it’s a tensioner issue which causes timing chain problems.
From the new god of AI: “The Chevy Ecotec engine, particularly the 2.4L version, is known for timing chain issues, often due to tensioner failures. The chain can stretch or jump, causing engine misfires, rattling noises, and potentially catastrophic valve damage. Scott's U-Save Tires and Auto Repair notes that the tensioners are the primary cause of the problem, not the chain itself.”

I have a punch to report. This evening I took delivery of a 2025 Underground / Boulder Toyota Camry SE AWD. I leased the Camry for 36 months/10,000 miles per year.
I originally contacted this dealer because my best friend has bought a few of his Toyota Hybrid delivery vehicles from this one sales guy. I spoke to him on the phone and told him what car I wanted (LE AWD or SE AWD) with the cold weather package and convenience package. I also told him how I wanted to structure my lease. 1st payment & MSD due at signing. Sales tax (6.35%), Acquisition Fee ($650), Doc Fee ($999 - I know), and DMV rolled into the monthly payment. Before we hung up, he asked the “where do you want to be monthly?” I told him $400 per month. I knew he could t do this, because it would equate to about a 14.5% discount.
I don’t think he’s ever done a less with MSD, so he had to look into how it works. He called me back about a day & a half later. He offered me $500 per month (1st & MSD DAS). I called back, told him I was looking for $450 per month. He called me back this AM and said the best they could do was $475. I said I’d have to think about it, then got completely swamped at work. On my way home, I called, his VM was full. So I texted him:
“Good afternoon Jose. I can’t do the $474.09. My max budget is $450/month structured from my text message this morning. I don’t have the budget for anything higher. I appreciate the time you have been taking trying to put this together for me. If you can do the $450, I’ll take the car today.“
He called back 5 minutes later and said we’ve got a deal. I took a ride up there with my 18 year old. It was very busy. End of the month and a Saturday. Here are a few pics. I’ll take some more tomorrow.
My deal ended up being 6.5% off sticker before adding the fees back in.
Thank-you everyone for all of your support. @Michaell & @kyfdx thank-you for helping me navigate through the lease programs for so many different models.

Toyotas aren’t cheap to lease, but they do hold their value extremely well. Even with the higher than average miles that we drive, I’m confident that I will be able to get out of the lease early. If I do keep the car to term and turn it in, it is only $0.15 per mile plus tax.

Good luck with the Camry. My son has a 2020 bought during Covid. He gets over 40 MPG regularly and has had no issues at all. I think he is around 65K miles. That gray color looks like Underground from the Toyota website but may be Heavy Metal like my Crown which is a bit lighter metallic gray. Hard to go wrong with Toyota unless it is a newer Tundra with a bad/recalled engine.

other than being a good buy, what is the reasoning behind that? To replace the Soul, even though it rides lower?
@nyccarguy - congrats on the Camry! Very sharp looking car that will serve you and your family well.
Was this your preferred color, or was that not important?
I think the Gray looks good on that car. Tones down the grill a little! Love the Boulder interior though. That looks so much nicer than all black.
Lot of car for the money too. Before the usual Toyota accessories MSRP under $35k is cheap these days. The convenience and climate packages are good values too.

I still think it is odd that family sedans come with skinny sidewall tires. Only the LE has traditional meaty tires.
The LE was the car I was going for. I like (for practical purposes) the 16” wheels and tires with larger sidewalls. It has the same money factor as the SE AWD, but a 1% higher residual.

Thank-you! My wife said no black and no red. I didn’t want the Blue they offer. My 1st choice was Ocean Gem. After that I really wasn’t too picky. I liked White (they have Ice Cap & I think Wind Chill) as well as Underground which I got.
I also wanted to make sure I got the convenience and cold weather package. Some SEs have optional 19” wheels. I definitely didn’t want those.
I couldn’t afford to be too picky as inventory is on the slim side. Searching most dealer websites they didn’t have too many LE or SE in stock (1 or 2). They had a few coming in between early June & early July.

@stickguy
Toyotas aren’t cheap to lease, but they do hold their value extremely well. Even with the higher than average miles that we drive, I’m confident that I will be able to get out of the lease early. If I do keep the car to term and turn it in, it is only $0.15 per mile plus tax.

I left the Tacoma at the dealership. The dealership UCM who appraises had to leave to go to a wedding and won’t be back until Monday, I told him what my buyout is and told him I need to at least get that. So to be continued…

Lot of car for the money too. Before the usual Toyota accessories MSRP under $35k is cheap these days. The convenience and climate packages are good values too.

@greg128 - my friend says it strongly resembles the MKIII Supra from the late ‘80s - early ‘90s.
