If the batteries had a lifetime guarantee, I'd be more willing to look at one like the Hyundai or Kia but until that happens, still a bit leary. So staying on the sidelines until that happens. And also, it must be fun to drive along with killer mpg's. I want a vehicle like the Golf that puts a smile on my face whenever I see it. Don't even have to drive it for me to get a smile on my face. Find me another vehicle like that with my size preference, and I'm in. Want anything under 175", a nice powerful audio system, nice alloys, decent mpg's and comfortable seats with an automatic, and I'm in. But it has to have a great warranty to even get me to look ay any hybrid or electric at this point.

They are not many people's favorites, but I'd like to buy a 2016/2017 Lincoln MKZ.
Here are some carz.com listings and I think they are nuts.
The lowest rating they have on only few cars is a 'Fair Deal'.

I like this one too, only '80' miles away. Too bad on Long Island, so unless I drove under the 'Sound', it's a lot further. :)

Sandy, the Hyundai Kona or Elantra GT with the 1.6T nails the target. Kona if you want something a little higher. The GT is really fun. Like your golf, but quicker with a 10 year warranty.

    @tjc78,
I'm bipolar when it comes to cars.
Bought the Mustang new in 1991 and still have it.
Traded my 02 Explorer after 12 1/2 years toward a CPO Escape, liked it but kept it only 10 months and traded it in on a new pickup truck. Traded that truck after 2+ years on another new one.
Might wait another 5-6 months to see what happens with new MKZ's, as their are being discontinued.

Really like this, but I think it has a fatal flaw.

    1. A Marauder should be black, IMHO
    2. I don't see the jacket that came with the car.

I'm pretty sure it has an aftermarket moonroof.
It sits up kind of high on the roof and there are no interior pictures of it.
They have another one with a factory moonroof and it is in the pictures.

Yes looks like an aftermarket roof to me. Great car, the burgundy (Dark Toredor Red) was always my favorite.

Those do have a cooling problem on cylinder 8. Causes all kinds of problems with the valves. There is a cooling mod that can be done to fix it.

In all seriousness, I’ve been stalking them on H.  I’m just not interested in the prospect of a 3 year lease.  At $450 per month, it will cost me $16K+ over the course of 3 years.  Just checked my payoff amount on the Infiniti.  It’s a hair under $8K.  I’m happy with the Q40.  I could upgrade the sway bars this year (my birthday is coming up on 4/3) and put a set of stickier tires on next spring when the car is paid off.

How many miles when the engine blew? That makes a difference. If all the Neon failures happened in the 6-digits for miles, instead of before 65,000 miles, would have been a different story.

    I like extreme examples.

The relevance is that an engine blowing is no big deal at 300,000 miles in a Honda, whereas my older Cousin was mightily upset a Ford engine blew at 37,000 or so miles on a 36,000 mile warranty. That was his last Ford, while I'm open to Honda.

I've almost gotten Mrs. j to the point where she is at least willing to listen about replacing her 2012 Subaru Legacy 3.6R Limited. The color is Silver and it has everything; like NAV, sunroof, even puddle lights so I'd like to get a number for its value.

The car just turned 36K miles 2 days ago and is in as perfect condition as you can get for that car EXCEPT, she wacked the passenger side mirror a few months ago (no sheet metal damage just the mirror. It will definitely need replaced, no amount of buffing will save it). I figure that is a $300 or so hit. Other than that it is great, tires have less than 8K miles (Bridgestone Serenities) and it still shines. My dilemma is that I got prices from web sites all over the place as shown below, although 2 are somewhat close but Edmunds seems wacky to me:

Edmunds: $10,289 (outstanding) and $9,662 (clean)

KBB: $14,437 (excellent) and $13,784 (very good)

NADA: $14,050 (clean) and $13,125 (average)

I realize that as good as I think it is the dealer will not give me the highest amount but I think it should at least fetch something more towards the high side vs. the lower amount but that is why I've asked for this sites help.

FWIW, Edmunds seems the most wacky of all the sites (based on the above). Is this common with Edmunds across the board for all makes or just Subie's ?

If it’s as nice as you say, fix the mirror before you shop it around as a trade in. They will probably try to ding you more than the cost of repair on something like that.

I am still fuzzy as to why you want her to get a new car so bad, since this one has such low miles, and she really likes it. Since just going to get a like replacement anyway.

Thanks for your input and I was thinking the same thing. However, I'm relying on what both my nephew and nephew-in-law (both of whom work at 2 of Pittsburgh's largest mega dealer body shops), told me before the mirror was whacked, that if I kept the car in the shape they saw it in last summer, dealers would be standing in line to get that car for their lot even though it is now 7 years old. So, I'm willing to try to sell it with the whacked mirror, knowing they can fix it and turn it around quickly. If they try to steal it from me, they won't get it.

I just checked on-line and a new OEM mirror without being painted to match the Silver body color is less than $150. I know the mirror assembly can be installed within 30 minutes. So, my $300 guess may be a few bucks low but not too far off.

To be honest, I just got a bug about getting a 2019 replacement that is burgundy with the beige interior. The hilarious part about this is, just tonight while we were out to dinner, Mrs. j out of nowhere, said, "when are you going to look at that car you were talking about. As long as it's the color I saw the other day on the monitor, I guess I can go along with that". Now that I've worked her this far, I'm not quitting now. I'm going to give it a try on Monday.

No clue where those other sites are getting their numbers That would be more like retail list price. Auction value is right at about $11k with the busted mirror, so Edmunds is closest. Vroom/carvana may be $11.5k or so.

OK, now I got it. A few years ago the right front fender had to be replaced because a jacked-up pickup hit it in a parking lot and took off when I was at one of my grandsons hockey games. That's when I got the '15 Black Altima that a few people gave me compliments about. I've heard, but it might be wrong, that once a car is more than 5 years old, a Carfax hit doesn't come into play like it does for 2 or 3 year old cars. I've never checked to see if a Carfax was even filled for her car. In any case they ain't going to steal it.

Thanks q. Those numbers I posted were for the conditions I showed. They were definitely NOT dealer retail. Retail was a good bit higher. 11K to 11.5K is better than the $9,700 I was thinking I could get based on the Edmunds price that I got first. That's why I wanted to get the auction price since I know that is what dealers go by.

@jmonroe1 - I can’t believe you have finally got mrs J to concede.  Impressive your powers are!

I didn’t know you had a fender replaced. Count your blessings if you can get $9700.

Thanks for the bad news. :'(

Now I'm going to shoot for at least 10K but a wee bit less will still be OK.

After fighting with her for at least 3 years, the dealer will be a piece of cake. I almost feel sorry for that poor soul. :p

Yeah, you're right. Why not? I've already cleared the highest hurdle. Tomorrow is the day.
