How much for a 2013 CPO A6 premium plus. 10k miles (prolly driven on the bad city roads), NYC Dealer asking for 39k.

    @shifty:
The Audi A3 that ground going into 3rd -- that to my mind suggests syncros. Esp. since the other 6 gears were all fine.

The 5th-gear pop out problem on the tC is certainly not syncros. Some underdesigned bearing but I don't really know, just what I heard about the Vibe/Matrix.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
the gear set needs to shift in order for it to pop out of gear, so yeah, bearings are the usual suspect.

2014 Fusion - hovering around $15k-16k. What does a buyback do to the value? I have no idea. As you have seen in some of the responses, it chases away at least some buyers, so I'd say it takes a hit. I'm going to say, unless its CPO, $15k retail would be my limit.

2014 Passat - somewhere in the mid $14s at auction, so they've got about the standard $4k bump from there. $17k-$17.5 should do it.

2004 Passat GL wagon is worth $1k at the block with those miles.

Thanks for the info. I offered 16000 for the Fusion on the condition they sell me the ESP at their cost. we shall see. I know the Passat will go for 17500 out the door, but am concerned with the long term viability of the keyless ign and the cost of maintenance on the car. I keep my cars a long time.
Just an update-there was some reason Ford's ESP plan could not be put on the Fusion. They offered an aftermarket extended warranty instead. A big red flag for me. I used your auction numbers as a tool to negotiate for the Passat. We settled on 16500 out the door. They got a Weds am sale and I am happy with the deal. Thanks for the numbers again.

The reason the Ford ESP could not be put on the Fusion is because they make more money/pay less for the aftermarket warranty.

well, probably. But my guess (if that was the deal breaker) was Ford wouldn't do it because it was a buy back. Yet another red flag.

Enjoy the Passat. Sounds like a really good deal, and it is a nice car.

I should not be doing this... somehow the bug hits me every year around this time... so many cars looking for a home.

This one isn't priced yet; it's at the used-car dealership I've been keeping an eye on the last few weeks.
Let's say I'll use it to calibrate their pricing process. Yeah, that's it... this is RESEARCH, see...

2006 Audi A4 Avant quattro, silver over black leather.
It has 83k miles -- low for a car that had its 10th birthday in September.
2.0 FSI 4cyl turbo, 6sp [conventional] automatic. Bah humbug.
    Sunroof. No Navi.

Driver's seat has a little tear in the leather, but mostly it's good.
The rest of the leather looks great. No major bodywork, maybe none. It was dark and wet, so I didn't look underneath.
    Nice alloys with new-ish Continentals.
Non-smoker car, reasonably clean, just been detailed.
Not the pristine look you get from OCD owners, but OK.

Hasn't been priced yet. Should be interesting.
A friend of mine should look into it -- he just got rearended in his 328i (or is?) coupe from 1997. Bought it new, took great care of it, and now it's totaled with frame damage. Insurance is giving him a little north of $4k for it. Considering it had rust repair and previous damage, that's hard to argue with. Miles were near 200k, I believe.

    He'll live. His other car is a 2005 M3 ;)
    Thanks in advance,
    Cheers -Mathias

Nothing with miles that low to compare to but $30k-$31k is a good guess. Add all the BS and CPO and I think somewhere in the $35k-$36k area code is about right for purchase.

Respectfully requesting information regarding the trade in value my:
    2013 Toyota Highlander Limited AWD
    Cypress Green/Tan leather
    34000miles
    I live in Maryland.
This is a lease return due back in Feb '16. I have only taken it to one dealer thus far who low balled me with a 24920 offer. Acording to KBB/Edmunds, etc. I see the following trade in values:
    Excellent 28755
    VG=28400
    Good=27700

Please let me know what I should expect to get for this trade assuming I am going to either lease or purchase a new sienna for 30k+

    Thank you,

    G

They weren't all that low. $26k-$27k is more like it. You may get more from a place serious about selling it themselves, but $28k is about the max in that situation. $30k-$31k would be fair retail, so no way they could hit those high estimates from those websites and still make a living.

what is your buyout now that includes residual plus remaining payments? And what are the total of your remaining payments alone? Not sure why they wouldn't work with you if trading for another toyota.

    QBrozen,

Sorry, I thought I mentioned that the 24920 is the payoff from TFS. So you're saying that 26500 would be doing OK. I'd like to get another 1k-1500 for it to help lower the cost of the new car.
    Thanks again!

A toyota dealer really should be willing to step up, I would think. $26.5k is doing fine for most dealers but, honestly, if I'm getting another toyota, I'd expect $27k-$27.5k.

Same for the Allroad. They are really nice cars, but maintenance and repairs are a formidable consideration. But don't listen to me. My friend runs a Porsche Audi repair shop so my impressions are similar to someone who uses an ER room as the basis of calculation for risk to human life. I only see the gruesome things.

The sad part is that for the most part, your VW/Audis are well-engineered, well-built, and very stout. From what I see around here in rust country, nothing lasts like an Audi body.
There is mid-90s midsize Audi 100 wagon in my neighborhood -- the bodystyle between the distinctive 5000 and the bar-of-soap 1997 A6 -- that looks like a new car when you see it in traffic. Try that with a twenty-year-old E-class. You can see through those cars without using the windows.
But when they do screw up in Ingolstadt, they go big, and they don't quit. These are the people that built door handles you'd have to change out every two or three years because the cheap cast-aluminum piece that did the unlocking broke. They had those for twenty years, no change. Friend of mine bought those in bulk.
On the late '90s A4, one of the first steps in changing the timing belt is to evacuate the AC system so you can get to the whole mess. Ve haf our methods.
Interestingly, the 2.8 with the 5 valves/cyl is solid, despite its complexity. And the quattro driveline tends to be bulletproof.. you just keep changing the rubber bellows around the many CV joints. Toyota's last forever because they simply restrict the movement of the axle with a wide turning radius. Audi engineers scoff at such limitations, so that's great in the city, but more maintenance. They're not stupid, just stubborn. They could learn from Toyota about continuous and constant improvement.
The mindset is exemplified in this: chains.
The chains are lifetime! They never break! And we found a really cool, cheap way to put plastic guides in there!

We have 6" of snow on the ground. The Outback does OK...

I have zero auction sales to go on.

So, looking at truecar, I could easily get a new one in my area for about $31.5k. At nearly $4k below that, my gut tells me that is a great deal. Just make sure it has had no paintwork done on it!

Just curious about a trade-in price of my 2015 Golf SE. Blue over tan, sunroof plus all the SE goodies, 12,400 miles, all service done at dealer, tires look brand new. South Florida location. Know there's still some cash available from VW on new vehicles.
Doubt I'd even do this but just curious what I could get for a babied 2015 model.

Got the hatch. Why the low estimate...would've figured closer to $17k. The vehicle really is in pristine condition, always garage kept. Never thought first year depreciation would be that much. Probably best to just keep it for a few more years.
