Thanks Michael. I got $4500 off the JGC Limited + Lux + Diesel + 20" Wheels. I just emailed the salesman and told him the MF was too high. We'll see if he offers something lower.

Thanks kyfdx. I see the RX350 gets good reviews but it doesn't appeal to me either. I suspect the RX350 lease deals are better than the JGC deals I'm seeing however...

Keep us posted as to how everything turns out.

One more observation - I've found that buying or leasing a particular make/model because of "the deal" may mean you end up with something you're not 100% happy with. I did that many years ago and got a Saturn L300 because of the 0% financing that was offered (was looking at the Passat and Accord as well).

I've been trying to get a deal on an Overland w/ tech pack and DVD, received a quote yesterday and the were bumping the MF by .0024 saying that was the only money they were making on the deal. In Ohio the tax is put into the cap cost, making it expensive...

Grrrr... in Virginia the sales tax is on the full price of the car. Dang it! lol

Also, based on old rates I saw in this section, I'm coming up w/ a pmt of around $521/mo using a MSRP of $46,185 and a sale price of $43,000. I'm in SoCal if you need tax rates. Using the new rates you have, does that sound about right to you?

    Thx so much in advance!

Sorry for leaving out a few details in my original msg, I'm looking at a RWD and only 10K miles per year. I assume that would bump the residual a point or two, right?

Would you mind updating the monthly payment estimate? Thanks much!

RWD Overland numbers for 36mo, 10K/yr are: .00008 MF and 51% residual.

So, even with the lower mileage allowance, the RWD model has a little more expensive lease program.. that adds about $13/mo. to the payment...

Bear with me here....I have a couple questions and thank you in advance for patience and your help...and this may be longer than what is typical but hopefully useful for all ---
I have been searching for a good deal for a GC V8 Summit for awhile now and came across one recently on a lot that had @ $700+ lower base sticker price @ MSRP 55, 185(most I've seen currently are @ 55,885) and had inspection sticker refelcting "10/14" that tells me it has been sitting on the lot for @ 6 months(Oct '13). I believe prices were raised in Dec 2013? My first question is : are there any material differences between the "earlier" release of the 2014 model vs more recent production releases? Interestingly , the dealer seemed no more interested in selling the one sitting on the lot for half a year then one sitting there for 1 month. What is up with that?
He did quote me two selling prices for the above mentioned earlier model... and would be curious your opinion if consistent with what you have been seeing .....one from Ally @ 47, 850 (with very high MF/low residual(not disclosed) resulting in payment @ $780/mo for 36 mos/10k $0 down) and one from Chrysler Finance @ 51, 730 (with current March figures .00000/49% resid. resulting in monthly payment @ 755.
Frankly, Just trying to get a base line understanding of what a fair monthly payment in PA would be for a GC Summit with MSRP of 55,885(purposely using higher MSRP) for 36 months/10k miles if negotiated price is @ 52K
    Thanks very much!

    $55885 MSRP

    $52000 CAP cost

    .00009 MF

    49% residual

    36mo, 10K/yr lease

$691/mo, plus tax (9% in PA, I think).

$755 looks about right, with those numbers. (Chrysler Capital numbers)

As far as earlier or later.. doubt it matters much to the dealer. Most people don't know or care how long their car has been on the lot...

Hi kyfdx! Thanks in advance for taking the time to respond to my question. :)

I ordered a Jeep Cherokee Limited 4x4 (not Grand) and it is in shipment with expected delivery of yesterday (not there yet). The dealership has given me the new lease info for March, but it doesn't look right to me. I've been told that the money factor for either 36 or 39 month lease is .00010. With residual values on 12k of 55% for 36 months and 45% for 39 months and residual values on 15k of 53% for 36 month and 43% for 39 months. This is in Tennessee (if that makes a difference.) Seems very strange to me that the 39 month residual values are so much lower than the 36 month.

Will you verify the money factors and residual values for me?

Hi, I am hoping someone can help me out with this. I am looking at leasing a 2014 GJC Overland 4x4. 12k/36mo. Based on a 0.00005, 52% residual, a $4500 incentive, and $2000 down, I came up with $468 a month. (Vehicle will be registered in 33486) if that matters. The dealer gave me a number of $551 a month, for a 39 month lease with Alli financial. He wouldn't disclose what numbers he used, but said that I should recheck my math because I left some stuff out. Did I leave things out, and if so, what? Also, the warranty on Jeeps is 36 months, so what happens if something breaks on the vehicle in the 3 months I am leasing it off warranty?

    .00007 MF and 55% for 36mo, 12K/yr. Subtract 3% for the 39 month residual

Maybe, he has his numbers mixed up with the Compass... there isn't any 39 month support for the Compass, and the residuals are really low for that term?

Not sure why his 39 month numbers are off..

The Overland 4X4 has a money factor of .00009, but you got the residual right. The numbers I provide are from Chrysler Financial. The numbers from Ally might be very different. Plus, there may be incentives that you can use with Ally, that are not available if you use the Chrysler Financial lease.

Just like if you own a car out of warranty, if something breaks when out of warranty on a lease, you pay for it.

I was at a dealer tonight looking at an Overland 4x4 with 10,000 miles. The dealer used a residual of 57% and an APR of 5.9%, which works out to a MF of about .0025. They told me there is no way they could give an APR of less than 5.9% I told them about the numbers being given here (53% residual and MF of .00005) and they said that must be for other states and Chrysler Financial doesn't offer that rate in CA. Based on an MSRP of $49,185 and a sale price of $44,500 I calculate a payment of $516 plus $49 tax = $565 with nothing down. They wanted something like $750 with $1,000 down based on a sales price of about $44,700.

This is my first time leasing. Here is what I was quoted:

    Tustin, CA
    2014 JGC Limited 4X2
    MSRP: $39,080
    Selling Price: $37,069
$2,000 down (includes first lease payment)
    10,000 miles
    Money factor: 0.00055
    Residual: 54%
36 months at $414/mo plus fees or $445/mo (all fees included)

The money factor appears to be on the high end. I assume I can negotiate that. Is the down payment too high? I believe there should be some kind of incentive, as shown on this site. The sales rep stated that it was already included, but didn't break it down for me. In any case, does this look realistic? I'd like to get the monthly payments lowered, if possible.

36 month lease? With those numbers, they aren't using Chrysler Capital. If they are quoting the money factor as an APR, they are most likely using Ally Bank. Chrysler Capital numbers are nationwide.

Yes, 36 months. They insisted it was Chrysler Financial. I told them the only thing that is affected by the state is the sales tax, but they said I was wrong. Even the Jeep website uses an APR of .12% (MF of .00005) when you calculate a lease. I've sent emails to a couple of other dealerships that have the Jeep I want. What is the best way to ask for a quote?- Tell them the sale price, MF, residual, and payment I want, or just ask for their best lease offer?

@kyfdx just wanted to say that your input has been super helpful so far! I think I have just one question left before I make a decision.

I was originally looking at leasing a 2014 GJC Overland 2WD w/ Advanced Tech package for 10K miles/yr and a 36 mo lease, but it appears that the 4WD will actually offer both a better residual and MF. So, I was wondering....

How does upgrading the engine from standard to the 5.7l V8 Mds Vvt on the 4WD Overland w/ Advanced Tech package affect the MF and Residual for a 10K mile/yr 36 mo lease? If you wouldn't mind, would you also share the estimated monthly pmt you get for a lease in California w/ $3K down?

Thanks again in advance, your input is greatly appreciated as I work toward my lease decision.

    Hi everyone,
first of all wanted to say thank you, because this forum has been extremely helpful. I'm looking at leasing a 2014 JGC Laredo 4x4 36 months 12k miles a year.

The local dealership (Oregon) is giving me the following quote:

NO Disposition Fee for the lease

    Cap Cost: $28,988

    Lease Factor is 5.75

Residual is 61% of the Cap Cost: $21,337

    Total due at signing ($1,000 + 1st month/license): approximately $1700

    $319 per month

The MSRP on the vehicle is $34,980

He is using a residual value of 61% which seems higher than what I've seen on this board?

Does this look like a solid deal or do I have room to work it down some?

Options and engine choices don't change the lease numbers, except to the extent that they may add to the MSRP.

To calculate a lease payment, need an MSRP and a proposed selling price..

That looks like a great lease payment for a vehicle of that MSRP. I can't comment on the numbers, because it's obviously a different bank than Chrysler Capital. I would guess Ally, again.

@kyfdx@Edmunds Thanks for all the great information! Looking at leasing '14 Overland 4x4 with an MSRP of $46,990 (includes destination). Price at my dealer is down to $43,500 and I'll be able to use the $1K loyalty cash and $4.500 IDL Bonus Cash to lower the capitalized cost to $38,000. What would the MF and residual be for a 36 month 15K/year lease? Would you also be able to provide an estimated payment with $0 down?

Also in your opinion do you see a difference in leasing through Chrysler Financial vs an independent bank? Seems to be a significant difference between MF and residual and lessens the value of the IDL incentive.

This board has been crazy helpful in my decision making process! I've finally narrowed in on the model I'll get and now have an offer to consider:

    • GJC Overland 4x2
    • MSRP $49,380
    • Sale Price $44,800
    • $1,000 Credit for holding a lease to a competitor
    • 10,000 miles/yr
    • 36 mos
    • Leased in Los Angeles, CA

I believe the MF is 0.00005 and residual is 51%.

My final questions before pulling the trigger or finding a better deal:

    • Is residual value based on the MSRP or Sale Price?
    • What would the monthly payment be w/ no money down?
    • What would the monthly payment be w/ $3,000 down?
    • Does this feel like a good deal?

    Thanks much in advance!

kyfdx: I have been watching conversation closely on JGC Summit. I am ready to make a deal this weekend. One question on the Summit lease numbers: Can you confirm that the money factor is indeed .00009 through Chrysler Capital (a .216% APR) versus a .0009 MF (a 2.16% APR)?

The initial numbers I am being quoted correlate more to the .0009 than the former. With a base price of $47,535 (including separate $500 Chrysler incentive) and 49% residual on the $52,190 MSRP, I am calculating a payment in $676 vicinity. At .00009, it comes in more like $616. All excluding taxes and tags with zero down. Can you confirm? Thanks!

    Hi kyfdx

I would like to gut-check a deal I have almost commited to (via factory-direct order which seemed to be good way to get attractive deal), as I believe to be a pretty decent offer if you are looking for top end of the GC line-up.
Took some work between 3 dealers (in PA) over 2 months but, in the end, it was an internet salesperson that brought me in on an offer that was $45/mo better than any other offers. Not small change over life of 36 mos lease.
    DETAILS of DEAL:
    GC Summit V8
    MSRP: 55,885
    36 mos/10k mi/$0 down
    Selling price: 51,232
    bank (Ally) fees: 595
    Cash/Incentives: $5,000 (1,000 least conquest/4,000 cash bonus with Ally)
    Adj Cap Cost : 46,827
MF: 0.00228 or 5.48% -- very high compared to Chrysler Finance current MF
Residual: 53% --much better than Chrysler and attractive to me as I do not intend to purchase at lease-end
    Monthly Payment/incl taxes $698.68

While I know you track/work numbers off of Chrysler Finance, does the above make sense to you? I can still get out of it before I am contacted to confirm build - thank you kyfdx!

The 4X2 money factor is .00008, and 51% residual is correct.

    *Residual is based on MSRP

*$522/mo, with no CAP cost reduction (still have fees, title, taxes)

*$439/mo. with $3000 CAP cost reduction.

*Is it a good deal? Seems reasonable considering the lease program. I'm not sure what you get with an Overland, but I'd have a hard time not getting the Limited (with a 4% higher residual). But, I'm not the one driving it.. ;)

With a base price of $47,535 (including separate $500 Chrysler incentive) and 49% residual on the $52,190 MSRP, I am calculating a payment in $676 vicinity. At .00009, it comes in more like $616. All excluding taxes and tags with zero down. Can you confirm? Thanks!

4WD? Yes, it's .00009 (with 4 zeroes... very cheap). At that money factor, I get $616/mo, as well. 36mo, 10K/yr, right?

Tax is 9% in PA, right? I actually show it about $10/mo. higher than your payment, using the ALLY numbers you provided, but that's pretty close. Assuming the only thing you lose is the $4000 rebate, Chrysler Capital numbers would be about $8/mo. more than the ALLY numbers.

Comparison shopping is a good way to see what you can get. If this dealer is that much better than the others, then that's certainly a good sign.

kyfdx - Thanks for confirmation on the JGC Summit numbers. Yes, 36 mos and 10K. Do you know how numbers would differ for 12K per year?

Subtract 1 point from the residual value for 12K per year.

You can't get the $4500 IDL bonus, unless you use an independent bank. I'm sorry, but I only have Chrysler Capital numbers.

Thanks for the response. I spoke to my dealer today about a '14 GC Limited 4X4 with a MSRP of $42,970 and capitalized cost of $39,196. These are the Chrysler Capital numbers they quoted for a 36 month 15K/yr lease: Residual 54% & MF .00019. Is this accurate? With 4K down they quoted a payment of $414, including MN tax. Does that seem right?

Those are the correct lease numbers from Chrysler Capital. The payment with those numbers is $456/mo.+tax.

I'm assuming the $4K is the total amount due at signing? To know how that compares to your final quoted payment of $414/mo., you need to know the breakdown of that $4K. Once you know where that money goes, then you can see if they are hiding anything there. You'll have 1st payment, acquisition fee, title/license fees... maybe a dealer document fee? If all of that looks right, then you'll see what they've allocated to an actual downpayment or CAP cost reduction. If you know that, you can deduct it from gross CAP cost of $39,196 to get a net CAP cost (Which is probably around $36,800, if all is good).

    Hi Kyfdx,
This is my first time posting and asking a few questions. Thank you in advance for your help.
I got two offers from local dealers.
2014 Grand Cherokee limited 12k/year and 36 months
    MSRP 41000
    Negotiated price 38103
    MF .00018
    Residual 56%
With 0 down and just first month payment and tax and title i was quoted including taxes 459. Does this sound like a fair deal?
The second offer I got was for 12k/year and 39 months
    MSRP 41205
    With discounts and rebates 33000
    MF .0013
RV 21,421.60 ( they gave me the actual amount)
I got a base price of 400.87 plus taxes.
Please let me know what you think. I will really appreciate your help.

The 2nd lease is most likely with Ally Bank, not Chrysler Capital. Even though it's 3 more months, $59/mo. less makes that a no-brainer..

Hi kyfdx, thanks for your response. The second lease is 400 plus tax so it will be around 440 with tax. So it's a difference of like 19 bucks. However when I am calculating the base price of the lease my numbers are lower than what I am getting. Can you please let me know if the numbers and mf and residual look okay to you? I appreciate your help.

On the 1st one, I get $431/mo. + tax... On the 2nd one, $367/mo +tax.. So, pretty close to your numbers on the 1st one... nowhere close on the 2nd one...

I agree withy you in the second deal my numbers are exact with yours, but I don't know why the dealer's number is different. What do you think could be the difference?
Also I am being told that the offers are really good this month, but I want to take my time in getting the car. I know it's hard to predict the future lease deals, but I don't think that I won't get good deals if I get the car next month as I am being told by the dealer. What's your advice? Thanks.

Yeah..if you get stuck on a particular trim line or something like that, that one might not be as good a deal, from month to month... but, in general, I don't think GC leases are going to change much.... (I'm often wrong, though.. lol)

@kfdx can you please help me qualify this offer? The sale price looks good to me, but the monthly payments feel high to me and I cannot figure out where the additional monthly payment is coming from.

    Grand Jeep Cherokee Overland

    • MSRP: $50,175
    • Sale Price: $46,518
    • Down: $3,000
    • Credits: $1,000
    • Acquisition Fee: $795
    • Tx Accessory Fee: $895 -- IS THIS A REAL FEE I SHOULD PAY?
    • Residual: 51% ($25,589.25)
    • Money Factor: 0.00005%

    I'm coming up with the following for a 36 month / 10,000 mi/yr lease:

    • Net Capitalized Cost: $44,608.83
    • Monthly Depreciation Fees: $528.32
    • Monthly Financing Costs: $3.51
    • Monthly Tax (9% for CA): $47.86
    • Total Monthly Payment: $579.70

    The dealer is offering:

    • Monthly Depreciation Fee: $591
    • Monthly Tax: $53
    • Total Monthly Payment: $644

Are my calculations off or is the dealer doing some tricky math to raise the monthly payments?

    Thanks so much in advance!

When I plug in your numbers I get a post-tax payment of $582.43, which is a lot closer to your calculations than the dealers.

I'm guessing "tricky math" may be what's going on. Confirm with the dealer why there is a difference.

Thanks @michaell I really appreciate your input. I was set to buy yesterday, but was pretty shocked when our numbers were so far off.

Is there anything you can think of that would be a likely culprit in the tricky math?

And, do you have any idea Tx Accessory fees would be and if I can get them to absorb the cost?

Most lease deals have pretty straightforward calculations. My co-host and I have a simple spreadsheet that we use to plug in numbers to verify payments.

Is there a trade in involved? Is the dealer willing to provide a breakdown of their calculations? A copy of the lease worksheet should help.

@michaell I don't have a well organized lease to review, but I have the data in a raw format from the dealer as follows. I apologize for the messy presentation, but this is exactly what I received.
