I had a look at the BMW section of the forum; no wonder people say BMW's are one of the most leasable cars around. For the monthly price of a 32k~ GTI, which barely gets any discounts, you can get a 40-41k BMW with 4-5k discount from MSRP.

The only thing I'm seeing that is more costly on BMW's side is the aq/documentation fee

Ya gotta pay to play ...

But yes, BMW inflates their residuals to make leasing more attractive.

I wish to confirm Lease specs (money factor, residuals, acquisition fee, rebates, etc.) for a 2015 Golf GTI Autobahn w/Performance Package, 4 door, Manual. Looking to do a 36 month lease with either 15k or 12k miles per year.

BTW, the deal I am looking at is for $500 off of MSRP, which is the best I have found in the SF Bay Area for GTI's with the Performance Package, which are limited in supply, especially at year-end. Most other dealers want MSRP, if they even have one.

    Thank you.

Looking at my first ever lease so wanted some feedback on this deal. Feel like I should be able to go lower especially as all the dealers expressed wanting to sell by Friday due to month end.

2015 GTI automatic 36mo/12k and I am in California Los Angeles area. The following is from printout I got from dealer today after test drive.

    M.s.r.p: 27,575
    Residual: 54%
    Residual Value: 14,890.50
    Term: 36 months
    Rate: 0.00015
    Selling Price: 26,950
Cash: 756.23 (my out of pocket amount due at start, was told this includes first month payment plus reg/fees)
    Capped fees: 654
    Total Taxes: 976.55
    Adjusted Cap Cost: 27,604
    Lic/reg upfront: 275
    Upfront fees: 88.75

    Base monthly Payment: 359.52
    Total Monthly Payment: 386.48

    Thanks for the help!

The money factor and residual are correct. The lease payment calculation is correct, as well.

There should be a little room on the selling price. There is $250 lease cash on this model. The discount is only $625 from MSRP. Seems like you have $200-$500 more to play with on the price.

Other than that, nothing to complain about. The residuals aren't great, but they are what they are...

Hi I am about to pull the trigger on a lease for a 2015 GTI 4 door SE with Performance Pack in New Jersey (7% tax rate). The dealer is going to be selling me the car at invoice price. I have never leased a car before so I was hoping for some insight here. The numbers I have to share are

    M.s.r.p: 32,710.00
    Residual: 52%
    Residual Value: 17,009.20
Term: 36 months @ 15k miles per year
    Rate / Money Factor: 0.00015
Selling Price I am purchasing for on vehicle portion of deal: 31,210.00 (this is invoice price according to TrueCar.com and my dealer's paperwork)

Money Down: 483.04 (first month's payment and nothing else)
    Capped fees: 383.50
    CapTaxes: 1112.03
    Adjusted Cap Cost: 33,010.50
    Net Cap Cost: 34,122.53

    Other fees include -

    $199 Vin Etching
    $498 DOC fee
    $625 aquisition fee
    $95 dealer fee

    Total Monthly Payment: $483.04

They are also going to be giving me a free APR Stage 1 tune with all of the extra programming done ($900 value) at no charge. I also have the option to purchase a few other APR mods sold to me at whatever their own cost is. Please let me know what you think of all of this information and if you require anything else to give some solid insight.

The exact specs of the car are:

    2015 GTI 4 door SE

    w/ Performance Pack
    Monster / Rubber Mats
    Lighting package
    Driver Assist Package
    Roadside Assistance Kit

I confirm the .00015 MF and the 36/15 residual of 52%.

I get the same number for the payment ... looks like a pretty good deal if they are selling you the car at invoice - haven't seen that yet with a GTI.

    Enjoy!

Thanks for getting back to me! Just wondering as well...they offered 500 over invoice on a 2016 GTI as well. No free APR flash or anything like that but still 500 over on invoice seems pretty good. What I am wondering about though is how likely it would be for the residual to be significantly higher and / or the MF to increase the payments a lot?

I don't think I would want to be paying much more for the car but with all of the MY 16 updates I am still a bit tempted to hold off.

Is there any way to see what the payment might look like with the car being say $1000 more expensive than I have now (accounting for the extra $500 over invoice and $500 in misc general increases via VW) along with a less favorable MF in the event that the terms are different by the time I take delivery? Any historical data to see what the worst favorable lease terms have looked like so far on these MK7 GTI's? I know these are a bunch of "what ifs" but anything insight you can provide (figures or even instructions on how to figure this out better on my own) would be useful to help make my final choice. Thank you again!

We don't have any 2016 VW lease numbers at this time.

For a 36 month lease, and everything else being the same, every $1000 adds $28/mo to the payment. Historical information doesn't provide any insight into future programs.

Lots of lease calculators on the web to help you model a payment, if you have all the data.

Following up on this thread, and sharing information, the following is the Deal ready to sign:

2015 Golf GTI Autobahn w/Performance Package, Manual, 4-door, White, DCC, Roadside Assistance Kit, Monster Mat Kit
    MSRP: $33,480
Adj Cap Cost: $32,730 (includes $500 off of MSRP and another Manufacturer Discount of $250)
    MF: .00015
    Residual: 54%
    Acquisition Fee: $625.00
    Doc Fee/Electronic Filing Fee/CA Tire Fee: $117.75
    License & Registration: $324.00
Sales Tax on Fees: $66.98 (9.5%)
    Drive-off: $1,587.71
    Monthly Payment: $453.98

My only question is if there are possibly two (2) "discounts" available from the Manufacturer: one being the Lease Cash and the other an Incentive? I ask this because that $250 discount off MSRP is not being labeled as Lease Cash.

Then, the Dealer is insisting on putting the Acquisition Fee into the Cap Cost and then applying a Cap Reduction to get it out of there. I think this ends up the same way as I wish to pay all fees, license & registration, and first month payment at Drive-off, and have the Cap Cost reflect the true cost of the car itself.

I have done numerous Leases with BMW and Lexus, and none of those have been as difficult as this one. But, then perhaps I have built up a great group of contacts, and rep, for those other brands.

Thank you for all that you do in providing information and vetting deals.

The only incentive I'm aware of is the $250 lease cash; you can use the "Car Research" tab at the top of the screen to see if there are any other customer incentives.

I don't see any difference at the end of the day if the acquisition fee is paid up front or added to the cap cost and have a reduction take care of it.

The Dealer is labeling this as "Dealer Cash," which I am guessing is interchangeable/synonymous with "Lease Cash." I have looked in the Incentives and Rebates area and nothing other than the Special APR (Financing) shows there.

Agreed on the handling of the Acquisition Fee.

Thanks for the prompt feedback. Going back today and asking for 309.99 and throw in the rubber mats. Shouldn't be any problem.

Looking at a 2015 GTI SE 4 door manual.

    MSRP: $29,475

Adjusted Cap Cost: $28,475 (I think there is more wiggle room here)

    Residual: 55%
    MF: .00015

    Drive offs: $808.60 (tax/title/tag/license)

The dealer quote me $397.65 a month which seems way too high based on the above numbers. Any thoughts?

Looking at a 2015 GTI SE 4 door manual.

    MSRP: $29,475

Adjusted Cap Cost: $28,475 (I think there is more wiggle room here)

    Residual: 55%
    MF: .00015

    Drive offs: $808.60 (tax/title/tag/license)

The dealer quote me $397.65 a month which seems way too high based on the above numbers. Any thoughts?

With those numbers, I get $347.36/mo before tax.

Where do you live and what state is this?

I confirm the .00015 MF and 55% residual for 36/10

What are the current money factor and residual for a 2015 GTI SE automatic with lighting package for 3 and 4 years at 10K miles a year? Can I also get the same info if we add performance package?

    Thanks

I am wondering if this is a good deal:

    2015 VW GTI
    Sales Price $28,727
    36 month 15k - VA
first months payment only $443 a month
    4% tax for VA
    $579 processing fee
    $103 for tags

    What is the MSRP?

Does seem like a lot, but I believe that VA taxes the entire sales price, which will make a lease more expensive.

I think they took off a little over $1,000 and in VA the tax is on the total sales price.

Do you think there's a little more room on the lease?

Since you haven't provided the MSRP, I can't tell you if there is more room to come down on the selling price.

That said, GTI's are incredibly popular - you can read back through the last few pages of this discussion to see what others have been able to negotiate.

I am planning to lease a SE DSG towards the end of this month. Do you suggest I wait till the beginning of September or should I lease it before August ends?

Any idea on when the 2016 will hit the market?

Also, here are the numbers I got on the car (DSG SE):

    Location: San Jose, CA
    MSRP: $31,535
    After incentive: $30,906
    Term: 36 Months
    Miles: 10,000

They are asking $1,000 down and $435.88 a month or $2500 down and $392.78 a month.

I was told the MF is 0.00015 and residual is 55%.

Does this seem like an honest deal?

    Thanks

Yeah.. .I want a bigger discount from MSRP. There is $250 dealer cash on this model. Should be another $250-$500 to play with in there.

On the plus side, no markups, elsewhere..

    Hey everyone,

I'm debating whether to get a 2015 GTI or hold off for the 2016, and I was hoping I could get some perspective.

    Some background:

I'm in the LA area, sales tax where I am is about 9.5% I believe.

I currently have a lease ending in December (last payment November), with total payments including the costs of returning the car ~ $1136, The lease is under water so buyout is not an option. I also have to get my bumper fixed which will cost $700 (but was planning on paying that out of pocket).

I'm looking at the SE 4-door - there's not many 2015s left around here, but seems like the MSRP on the 2015 is about 30,600 and the 2016 is around 31,085.

    I'm looking at a 36/10 lease.

Could put up to $2K down/for all walkoff fees
    ---
It seems like the biggest difference between 2015 and 2016 is the infotainment system.

I know that with the 2015, the MF is super low right now, and the residuals are decently high so in principle I could get a decent deal. But, knowing the dealer would pass back any costs of getting out of my lease early, would that basically negate the better MF?

If I wait until December, I'll be done with my lease so won't have to deal with any of those costs, but I also know that the MF might not drop, it might even go up.

How big do you think the gap between the 2015 and 2016 will be? I'd prefer to get the 2016, but if all things considered I could get a much better deal on the 2015, I might go for that.

Just looking for some input as I weigh (edited, ha) the options.

    Thanks!

Not much to add; your analysis seems spot on. Selection of 2015's is getting thin, given the 2016's have been at the dealers for a while now.

Getting out of your lease early will cost you ... call the finance company to get a current payoff, then head over to the discussion "Real World Trade in Values" to see how much your car is worth. Might not be as much negative equity as you think (or, could be more ....).

Then, see what your best deal is on a 2015 given your position of your current lease.

My best advice is to wait until your current lease is over before shopping ... I can't imagine the MF on the 2016's getting any worse over the next few months, but I wouldn't guarantee that they'll go down, either.

If it were my money, I'd wait for the 2016 simply because of the infotainment upgrades.

Okay got a quote from another dealer...2016 4dr SE manual...MSRP is $30,800, they took about $900 off giving me a selling price of $29,975. No drive off fees at all. I'm located in LA.

    Net cap cost: $30,600.
    MF: .00185
    Residual: 60%
    Monthly payment: $426.30 + tax

My thoughts are that it seems a little high. I feel like I could probably find something for around $400 a month all in. What do u guys think?
