May not have been the best picture of the place….but I can assure you the kids going down the water slides couldn’t give a s@#$ what the landscaping looks like.

Place was $400 for four season passes and worth every penny. We will probably swing for the “nicer” aka bigger place next year at more than double the cost because the kid’s friends always get passes there and will be convenient for us or their parents to take them all.

Holy crap… just went in to change my signature and realized I’ve been with you knuckleheads since March of 2006. That’s longer than I’ve been with my wife.

I get it tjc, it's a case of function over form. Don't forget, I have an interest in design, so I am used to painted electric cords and nice neat gutters and down spouts. This one would pass the looks test, and congratulations on 16 years. I checked mine and I have been around since 2005!

Company gave us off today as a thank you. Wife is stuck working and couldn’t take off.

I took the kids out to a junk food lunch and then to the water park. We have the season pass and they close after this weekend.

Surprisingly quiet for a holiday weekend, because many schools are back in session. Sure in a few hours town will be rockin’ again

What an eyesore......but it might be fun!
Maybe I should go to a waterpark now that I am retired.

You better not before getting a life preserver from The Guy. Water can be dangerous to your health.

True...but I am more concerned walking around where there are little kids all over..........someone would probably report some guy wandering around there.

And, there are lots of videos of Tesla driver's who are asleep. This is a recent one near Niagara Falls Ontario...they shot the video over about 15 minutes. The guys seat is reclined and his eyes are closed.

Oh, I think I forgot to mention a couple of things.

The Sprinter was a better drive home with the new tire pressures. Mileage is still miserable, though.

Vacation was just Ok. Probably brought down by the fact that we all brought Covid home with us. So, that's fun.

Me too but I can’t prove it because Edmunds screwed me out of seniority years sometime in 2018 when they had a system glitch. At which time I had to start the clock from zero. But the plus side is they no longer charge me dues each month. Win some lose some.

I wasn’t going to say anything about this but since you brought it up the only 2 who didn’t get Covid on our Myrtle Beach vacation were my 16 and 18 year old grandsons.

It hit Mrs. j the hardest by far. Right now she is recovering at a rehab place in the hospital. Physically she’s almost back to her old self but mentally she can’t remember a lot of things and no one knows if/when she will fully recover. So I’ve come to learn, when you’re older and got the first 2 shots, this a known side affect. Like I said I never heard of that but we’re living through it now.

Ugh. Sorry to hear that, @jmonroe .

We’ve all been vaccinated. Ton of good that did. So far, we are all ok. Just very achy, on and off fevers, and nonstop coughing. I’ve got the lowest Pulse Ox at 95, so nothing to be concerned with yet.

When I had it last week all I had was some minor congestion. No fever or aches and pains. Almost didn't know I had it. Tested negative two days ago but still have a bit of congestion.

@jmonroe1 - probably not a good time to tell you our new billing system for dues is coming on-line soon. Expect to get a statement for the dues you've not paid.

Covid - my wife spent 48 hours in the hospital in mid-July. Pulse OX was in the 80's, which is why she got admitted. She's quite headstrong, and had to chew out one of her docs regarding her care.

Hope everybody is on the mend, and that we all have a good long weekend here in the states.

+1 JMonroe. That is a tough one.
We got it when we got back from England at the end of June. The 2 guys behind us on the plane were hacking away the whole trip.
I had slight congestion in the nose and had only 80% of my power. MrsD100 was down to 25% of her power and it took about 6 weeks to fully recover, added about 10% a week.
Good luck, hope Mrs. J is back to chasing you around again real soon!

Thanks, I checked it out. So is the Sprinter temporary until the Wagoneer comes in? But the real question is, Why a Sprinter? Why do you need/want one. It seems like a bargain at about $50000 considering what it is!

I had a great time at the resort in Cape May, decent food but the place was always busy, and they try their best to get you out of the buffet as fast as they could, I would recommend reservations. Good physical regimes with instructors that really know how to motivate you. I tried to get a suite with a king sized bed but they put me in a large room with 40 other guys. Hosts seem mean and had a tendency to yell at you. Their morning wake up call was way to early and very noisy, but they did have some good motivation to get you out of bed quickly.

It’s funny how the covid roulette wheel spins. I might have gotten it when I was laid off and basically sitting at home with almost no exposure risk. I’ll never know since that was before vaccines or readily available tests. Felt like the regular flu. My wife and kids never had as much as a sniffle.

Since then I’m in and out of dozens of cars (a few were designated as covid contaminated) and never got sick. I’m no anti-vaxxer but I skipped the boosters.

Are there covid hot spots or activities that lead to more infections? Puzzling.

I’m very sorry for her. Are you saying you think the shot itself resulted in complications?

At work we’ve had a rash of fully vaxxed and boosted drivers get blood clots, strokes and heart issues. Hard to blame it on any one thing since we’re mostly geriatrics but it makes you wonder.

Thanks guys for your well wishes. It’s going to be a day to day situation.

As for the Covid shots, the way I understood it was if you don’t get the shots you’ll have the typical (fever, body ache and respiratory problems) but when you’re older and you’ve gotten the shots, having mental lapses is not uncommon.

I had a very mild sore throat for a few days, no fever, slight cough and a few sniffles. If I didn’t take the
home test which showed positive I never would have known I had Covid. I’ve felt a lot worse going through life and it never held me back from doing anything.

    Thanks again guys.

Sounds like the Mrs JM has the Covid “brain fog”. My oldest sister had it after returning with her family from an overseas trip. Happy to say that she is fine after about a month. Here’s hoping for the Mrs’ full recovery.

Saw a Toyota Echo Coup in the wild today. That was one strange looking car. Didn't they stop making those almost 20 years ago? I am a bit surprised to see one running now but hey who knows.

Ha! I just saw one this morning. Looked worse than 20 years old, not they they ever looked good even when new. Always reminded me of someone wearing an overly tall hat. I still remember the first time I saw one, had to be in the late '90s. I came out of the downtown office where I was working at the time and there was one parked on the street. I did a double-take, thinking that it reminded me of a '49 Chevy shrunken down. The one I saw today smelled like a '49 Chevy when I got behind it. If we had emissions tests here, it would not have passed.

Was it this vintage? That design didn't look great at the time, and it didn't hold up that well over the years. I wonder if they actually helped the environment. I had a ride in the back seat of one once......not that comfortable but strange that it was silent. I don't like the little thin tires they put on them....I don't think I would buy any car that has tires that thin.

They stopped making them in 2005 I think but people were sorry they didn’t have one in 2008. Kind of like how people have stopped making fun of the Mitsubishi Mirage today.

My sister in law has an echo just like that- 2 door, same color, manual transmission. I put a new alternator on it recently. It’s her spare car but she drives it more than her v6 Camry these days. I think is has 248k miles, something like that. Runs like a top! She mentioned that it is getting tough to find tires, don’t recall if they are 13 or 14 inch wheels.

I never drove an Echo but I’ve driven plenty of Mirages and for one or two people if could be decent basic transportation. It doesn’t do anything well except move from one point to another and get good gas mileage. For some people that’s all they can afford. I’ve driven them up to 150 miles and it was tolerable but certainly not fun.

As to safety, make your own judgment:

Not much left of that car after hitting the wall. If the occupants survived they would probably be badly injured. I lived a good portion of my life not being able to afford a decent car, but once I was 20+ I felt the need to have some metal around me.
By the time you factor in trade-in value, the cost of maintenance and repairs, I wonder if you really do save money over say the cost of buying a Corolla over a Mirage. I would rather buy a 2 or 3 year old larger car than take my chances in something that small and flimsy...but, that is just me.....Safety Guy!

I can’t make my own judgment, as I never watch these, but that looked pretty good. Stopped at the A pillar. Maybe lose a leg, but that’s a small price to pay for trying to take on a stationary wall in a deathmatch.

I recall “helping” my son get his first car. He’d saved up some money, but needed a little help from “BANK OF DAD”.

We went to look at an Echo. Honestly, it was as miserable of a car as I can ever recall. Loud, slow, cramped, well built for what it was, though.

We ended up getting a Hyundai Elantra, which at the time was cheaper, but worlds better than the Echo.

As an aside, @jmonroe1 hope good health reigns in your home soon!

And speaking of washing machines ... My fairly new (2 years old?) GE top loader developed a glitch. I think the problem started when it became unbalanced, but the symptoms are it won't do the "drain and spin". There is actually a setting on the front panel for "Drain and Spin" (I always wondered why that was there), and that will work.

A quick search on the internet found a fix. Pull the power plug, re-plug, then lift and close the lid 6 times within 30 seconds. Which will reset whatever got tripped when it encountered the "out of balance" condition. I still have to try it out to see if it's really fixed, but here's fingers crossed!
