Well $4k comes from manufacturer rebates: $1500 lease cash, $1500 conquest bonus (coming from Bmw), another $1000 dealer rebate, which I didn't know existed.

For the dealer discount portion, I cross shopped all the dealers in Colorado and shared the best offers from the dealers with the other dealers and asked them if they could beat it. Took my time with it and got where I wanted to be ($400/month for 36/15 with no money down). Plus I figured the dealers would be willing to move a MY2015 car before MY2016s show up in a couple of months...

McDonald Hyundai in Littleton. They had a fair appraisal of my Bmw since they carry other luxury brands and matched the pricing of two other dealers. Stevinson Hyundai in Longmont was great too, it just came down to color choice between two cars at those two dealers.

Would highly recommend the new Genesis. I drove a Bmw 428xDrive for a year and a half and had 5 series as service loaners multiple times. Genesis feels at least on par if not better than the current 5 series for almost half the lease payment. Plus it has the AWD now for us Colorado folks...

I guess I wasn't clear in the original post, but I did not sign onto this lease offer. I decided to wait as I didn't want to cap my remaining lease payments to a new car lease. I think I could have driven this monthly payment lower if I were intent on closing out a deal.

I'm hoping to get similar or better in a couple of months.

Try contacting a second dealer and see if you get the same answer.

Hi @michaelle and @kyfdx , I am in the market for a new lease and I am confused b/w Sonata and Genesis. I know both are 2 different segments but Genesis appears to be a great value for money.

You mentioned on this thread that BMW, Lexus and Infinity inflate their residuals to make leasing more attractive. Does that mean the monthly payments on a comparable BMW (4 or 5 series), or a Lexus GS are cheaper (for same term and miles)? If so, why would anyone go with a Genesis given that BMW also offers free maintenance for 4 years?

Horses for courses - or, as my wife likes to say, "that's why they make chocolate and vanilla ice cream"

Some people prefer the Genesis - why? You'd have to find and ask them.

My guess - so take it for what you want - is that the Hyundai offers features at a lower price point than BMW, so even with the different leasing numbers, the Hyundai may come out cheaper per month.
