2015 Mercedes C Class Lease Questions

I was presented with the following offer from a dealer.

2015 c300 4matic demo car with 3300 miles on it.

36 months / 7500 miles

MSRP: 46840
Discount: 7342 (15.67% off MSRP)
Selling: 39498

Base MF (thanks to moderator): 0.00119
MF marked up by dealer and that is the lowest they will go: 0.00149
Using 10 MSDs and reduce MF by 0.0007, final MF used in calculation: 0.00079

Residual: 63%. The dealer said any demo cars with 3000 miles are supposed to have a reduced residual value, but he will keep it at 63% because it was only 300 miles over.

Tax (6.25%): 2490.44
Tag and Title Fees: 163
Documentation Fee: 349
Acq Fee: 1095
Down payment: 0

Monthly payment before 6.25% tax: 331.98

I was only able to squeeze a 15.67% discount out of the dealer, and he would let me go out the doors since he said he could not do better. Finally, he said he would throw in the GPS to close the deal. Is that an okay deal? I have seen others having deeper discounts on demos. I have 24 hours to think over. Any comments?

I guess the discount is pretty solid, given the miles. But, the MF is marked up to make up some of that money.

Acquisition fee is also marked up from the base of $795.

If anything, I'd be worried about the lease application being denied because the car has too many miles. Dealer says he'll overlook the 300 extra miles, but will MBFS?

The app is flagging negotiated price as being about $2,000 above the average paid in that zip code but it may be because there are more options on the car than what I ran in the deal.

But yeah, I also get $442 plus tax using .00119 MF, 62% residual, and the MSRP and sales price data you provided.

sales price - $41,500 (this includes $500 silver star certificate for being an American Express Mercedes Benz cardholder)
All taxes (NY state) and all fees (doc, $795 acquisition, registration) included in payment - 1st payment due at signing only 
$466.06 per month - 36 months - 10,000 miles
I'm pretty happy with this since I shopped around a bunch and this was the best deal I found. I think I did ok?

Also, I may have to transfer the lease in some point in the future. What is the best strategy for me in the negotiation? Should I try to pay $0 down and no MSD?

Personally, I would never enter into a lease contract, if I didn't think I would fulfill it. But, if you think you might want to transfer it in the future, having MSDs would reduce your chances significantly.

I stopped by the dealership today and tested the car. The sales guy told me it's impossible to get $0 down as I don't have any credit history in car financing/leasing. I asked for a quote but he said he will need to pull my credit to give me quote. Is that normal?

A lease is a legally binding contract. If you try to terminate it early it could be very expensive to do so. 

The money factor portion of a lease is dependent on credit history. There are websites where you can pull your own credit for free so you will be educated before working with the dealer.

MF is the same, but the residual is adjusted downwards by about .20/mile, or $1000 for a loaner with 5000 miles on it. To offset this, you should be able to negotiate a larger discount from sticker.

I am looking at a 2015 C300 4Matic Sport w/ a sticker price of $51,990. 36 months, 12K miles, $44,500 buy price. I am being quoted $450 per month with no down payment. I am paying taxes, title, registration, acquisition fee upfront. They are showing a residual of about $32K. Is this a good deal?

I get $446 with those numbers (.00119 and 61% for 36/12). So, pretty close to the quote you've gotten.

Need some advice if I should be doing this one-time lease payment or what I should be looking at a regular lease in terms of monthly payments. I'm told even with a one-time lease there is still a money factor of .00038. My term is 36 months at 12,000 miles per year. They are asking me to come back to them with a reasonable offer so looking to the experts on here to advise. looking to get car this weekend as I am returning my 2013 C250. Help!

Need some help with my math on a one-pay lease. I understand the MF on a one pay lease is .00038. The MSRP is $43,490 which at 61% would make the RV $26,528. My tax rate is 9% I'd say about $500 in other fees like registration etc. I come up with a one time payment of about $12,900. Sound right?

Residual 61% ($30500 or so)

Dealer says $550 sign & drive lease with first month payment

Does this number make sense. If I use the sp as a base cap cost, my math shows different.

36 month lease, 10k miles. Residual is at 62% and MF is .00159

Base MF is .00119, and the base acq.fee is $1095. $499 doc fee is just dealer revenue.

With their numbers, I get $420+tax. Using the base MF, would drop the pre-tax payment by $28/mo.

Of course, you have to balance all the markups against the $7000 discount from MSRP. Could you still get the $7000 off, if you insisted on base rates and base acq.fee?

As an update - the selling price was dropped to $39k after I mentioned the doc fee and inflated MF.

New lease price is $399/month for 36 months, 10k miles a year. MSRP of $48,060.

Total fees out the door (including first month payment) is ~$2,300.

Thoughts? Good deal?

Something doesn't add up. Using your numbers as is, I get a pre-tax payment of $360.49; that leads me to believe that some of the fees are being added in to your selling price.

Second, the base MF (before autopay) on the 2015 C300W is .00118; autopay should drop that to .00108. So, the MF is marked up on you as well.

At least the residual value is correct (but it has to be - dealer can't touch it).

So, a good deal, but perhaps some room for improvement. Will the dealer honor the selling price if you ask for the base MF?

Wife wants to trade in 2011 c300, for a lease on the 15. Current car is financed, we owe 17 and trade in is probably around 15. Any idea how MB is handling this? Will they be looking to add that 2 to the lease?

Yes, the negative equity from the trade in would be added to the cap cost of the new lease. Or, you could pay it out of pocket along with your other lease inception costs.

Autopay allows MBFS to debit your bank account directly; it results in a .0001 reduction of the MF.
