I still need to know what is the right price for a purchase for G35xs with prem, nav, wood, cargo mat. Is $1500 under invoice best deal or is there a better number to work with?
thanks! :shades:

If you are buying you can get $2000 dealer cash instead of the 1.9% financing. You might want to see what gets you the better deal. Also if you are a previous Infiniti owner there is also $1000 loyalty cash.

Can you clarify 1 thing for me, if I buy/lease the vehicle in another state do I pay the tax rate of the state where I will register the vehicle, i.e. Indiana?
Thanks for this website, I learned a lot. I tried my first negotiation yesterday armed with all figures...and huh! the dealer will take your arm and leg if you don't have any idea at all.
TN taxes on the cap cost and the payment so a TN dealer should not charge an out of state buyer any tax at all. For sure if you make no cap cost reduction (a good idea in any case).
Leasing from any out of state dealer should work the same way, but it is possible in a state where tax is due up front or up front on the whole car (e.g. Texas) that the dealer may try to (or have to) collect taxes on the deal from out of state lessees.
IN taxes the payment, right? Then the lease bank (IFS) would just add IN taxes to your payment each month.

I've been reading these boards and doing research, and wanted to report on my purchase on Saturday. I got a 2008 G35x with prem, tech and wood...MSRP was $40,025 for $34,250.
Thanks to everyone for posting here, it sure helped me negotiate price!
Great purchase, checking in to see if you were a previous Infiniti owner and received the 1K loyalty offer on that price you quoted?

I know there's more to be had, so I'm going to push hard...but I want to be somewhat reasonable and make sure they're still walking away with a bit of profit
Thanks
If you are a previous owner buying you could get $2,500 under invoice here due to the $1,000 loyalty cash and $2,000 dealer cash. But I am a previous customer leasing so the best I can get in PHX is invoice + 500 - 500 lease loyalty = invoice.
Then again, we also have >8% sales tax in the Golden State..
8.05% for lease payments in AZ

My local dealer gets $500 and then adds > $1k of options to every car, so if they told you that you could have a G for $2k under invoice your net price might really be $500 under .

I haven't gotten that far yet on tags, docs, etc. Tax here is 6.65% or something close to that.
Ok, I assumed $34,975 was your OTD price when you said 'drive away'. Edmunds shows invoice as $36.7k. $4k off + 6.65% taxes comes to ~$34.8k.
I decided to go back to old posts back when the newly redesigned 07 version of the sedan hit the streets. Looks like right out the gate most cars were selling around sticker price
For all of you prognosticators out there what do you think we are going to see with the G37 sedan? Since it is a much smaller change are we going to see prices closer to invoice or sticker?

Here's what I'm unclear about: Is the 2k incentive already built in to this or should I be negotiating more? I feel like I'm still paying way too much bec the dealer is still not pushing price increases. Also, holdback? Thoughts?

The residual is ~60%, I'm paying $1,200 upfront which is for the title, first month, etc. Have very good credit. Does $600 sound right for 24 months??
If you are getting an auto tranny, the new gearbox has more speeds. The sports pack cars get the larger sedan wheels. Of course there is the "3.7l" factor. Truth be told, the larger power plant weighs more so my G37 6mt does not seem any faster to me than the 6mt and auto G35 sedans I test drove. If buying, I would guess the G37 sedan would always be worth a good bit more then a used G35 just because of the impression that is a WAY better. If leasing, the better deals may have already pass and it could be long time until things get that cheap again.
In the end we don't know, it is all based on sales volume and days supply. If they have too many then they will discount them and put cheap money or incentives on them to move some out.

More info:
It was a good experience until I got to the money man. We ended up leasing. I called IFS to get the lowdown on security deposit (required by IFS but dealers can waive) and current marketing offers. I also found out that dealers can use IFS leasing or a menu of other banks (Chase, Bo f A, Hon) to get a better deal.
Interesting side note: many dealers told us we couldn't find the car we wanted (wheat, wood trim interior, no nav, low mileage/10 miles, etc) but we finally found one willing to play ball. This Va dealer ended up going to NJ (we live in Md) to get the car.
Oddball question of the entire process was when the dealer asked me what his incentive was for selling the car at my offering proce. I remembered what Dennis said though and stuck to my guns knowing that no dealer will throw me out for making a reasonable offer.
I declined the $600. Maintenance fee and also got a coupon for 1st oil change I rolled the acquisition fee into the lease. I could have rolled almost everything else in too but couldn't afford the higher monthly payment. The money man was alittle to fast with the calculator. I asked for 36 and 39 month lease options. He used the wrong MF and numb of months twice. Each time he calculated it, he came up with a different number. I caught it before signing the contract. I was ready to walk and the sales mgr split the difference with me. Like I said, good experience but watch the money man!
There was also a $150. Assignment fee and no disposition fee. I also read the wear & tear clause of the contract well.
The dealership also said that the passenger side rattle that others have referred to is caused by 'rails on the seat'.
Thanks again to everyone.
Quick question, how do you like the manual tranny in your G? I've from a few sources that it's hard to drive "smoothly". Sorry about the off topic question.

G37 Journey Coupe
Sports, Premium, Navigation
Spoilers and some other stuff I don't need (Cargo mat, net, spoilers)
24 months, 12,000 miles
MF 0.0019
MSRP $44, 580
Sell $40,750
Residual $31,650
$1,700 out of the door
This includes 595 bank fee, 8.45 CA tire tax, 340 DMV fees, 45 doc fee, and 146 cap reduction (?)

Any thoughts welcome, thanks so much for the help! Love the car!
Its basically $1700 out of the door incl 1st months lease, title, registration, doc etc and then $510 + $39 tax = $549 per month. Good deal?
There are definitely deals to be had, so push hard!
It's to help pay for the cleanup of old tire dumps..
