hello kyfdx, do you mind to share a calculator where I can plugin "adjusted CAP cost" and compare what monthly payment should be around vs one I was given? thanks!
quick question: is it still worth purchasing AudiCare for extra few $$ /month, will it paid itself off during 3 years of lease, or my mechanic can take care of it and not to bother with a dealer services?
3.0 are nice but expensive.... Looking at Q5 3.0 Premium Plus in CA, MRSP 54580, Sales Price 48580, -> seems fair 36 months, 12 K with Audi Care perfect credit Getting 2 K discount for airbag issue for trade-in, resulting in zero drive off 662 per month. I think this is high due to MF of I believe 0.019. Would appreciate opinion
.00143 MF and 58% residual for 36/12 w/AudiCare.
Also, $1000 Summer of Audi incentive + $750 loyalty/conquest incentive..
If the sale price is the CAP cost, I get $585/mo.+tax, with .00143 MF
Adding some numbers for further feedback please: MRSP 54580, Sales Price 48580, -> seems fair GRoss cap to include audi care 49500 Adjusted cap cost 47900 36 months, 12 K with Audi Care perfect credit Getting total of 3750 discount for airbag issue of trade in and incentives , resulting in zero drive off 662 per month. I think this is high due to MF of I believe 0.019.

Adding AudiCare for $849, and then getting the 1% increase in residual, usually results in a total cost of $10/mo. You want dealer service during the warranty, because that way, it's all covered. It's either warranty work or maintenance, right?
You mechanic can't properly maintain a Q5 for $10/mo. Get the AudiCare.

Can you please comment on lease vs. balloon payment in TX? I've been told there are sales tax differences. Thank you
I don't know the particulars on the balloon program, but the basic premise is all about the sales tax.
Texas is one of the few states that taxes the full selling price of the vehicle, even on a lease. So, tax is the same with either program. The problem with the lease is you don't own the vehicle, so at lease end, when you go to lease another vehicle, you don't get any trade-in credit for the taxes. If you decide to purchase your vehicle at lease end, you still owe tax on the buyout.
But, if you use the balloon program, at the end of the term, you can pay for the car and keep it, with no further sales tax (it's already in your name), or if you turn/trade it in, you get a sales tax credit against the next vehicle.
Could you please help to check attached lease deal for Audi 2016 Q5 Premium plus
Thank You!
Like most Autonation lease quotes, it's woefully short on real lease information.
Which state are you in? It's like those taxes are for purchase only. And, no mention of the acquisition fee.
Looks like you have $7230 equity in your current vehicle. I sure wouldn't want to put that much down on a lease.
State is Washington.
Here are details, Audi Q5 Premium plus with Tech and Navi package
CAP cost - 44773.79 Cap reduction - 8032.19 Lease Residual Value - 26804.25 Acquisition Fee - 792
12,000/36 months
Monthly payment $350 (including all charges)
The $8000 in cap reduction is masking $222 on the payment - your "true" payment is $572/mo
Using the $48,735 MSRP and $44,774 cap cost, along with the 36/12 lease numbers of .00030 and 55%, I get $521/mo before tax. Tax rate in Washington is close to 10%, right? If so, then the post-tax number is - wait for it - $572/mo.
So, the good news is that the dealer is not marking up the MF for more profit.
The bad news is that you'll lose that $8K if the vehicle is stolen or totaled during the lease.
Better to save that money and use it to help with the higher payment.
Can you please provide money factor and residual for WA state? Is it really that low? .00030? I just spoke to the dealer, he had no clue about MF but told me residual on Q5 base model is 50%. is that true?

.00030 MF and 55% residual for 36mo, 12K/yr. The list price for AudiCare on a Q5 is just $849. This also adds 1% to the residual , or 56% in this case.
So, to recap 3% off MSRP (should be looking for 5%-6% off) marked up AudiCare (should be $849) $598 dealer fee (consider this a reduction to your discount) .00080 MF (.00030 base. This adds $37/mo.)

Why is the adjusted CAP cost $5250 higher than the selling price? Do you have to pay for the extra miles, upfront?

That's what I was trying to figure out myself. I thought the low residual was because of the extra miles. I know the cap goes up from taxes and fees but knowing fees of 1411 I figured with tax that would be around 2850 not 5250. I arrived at a payment of $617 nothing out of pocket. I will email asking what the 5250 consists of.
Please let me know if this is a reasonable offer? The dealer is telling me mf is .0003 and kind of unclear on residual so I can't calculate. This is for Audi Q5 Premium Plus in WA state.

They want $1,500 down for a 36/10K, monthly payments with tax included is $550.
.00030 and 56% for 36/10
It is my understanding, that in Washington sales tax is a flight to the monthly payment, not all upfront. This looks like a purchase quote, not a lease quote.
Ask the dealer for the adjusted capitalized cost. Also, find out how the $1500 is going to be applied.

Michaell, thank you! I plugged the numbers and if the adjusted cap cost is 44,119 with .0003 MF and residual 56% then the payment should be $446 (no tax) and $490 with WA state tax. I will make sure to ask him tomorrow, going back to seal the deal. Where else the $1500 can be applied to? I was hoping it's going against the adjusted cap cost, so $44,119 - 1500... Are they losing money on this deal? He kept saying that I'm getting this car under the invoice.

It's up to you to decide how to apply the $1500, but in the end, I don't think it will make much of a difference on the payment.
Not your concern whether they are losing money or not. Trust me, they wouldn't make the deal if that were the case.

I paid the lease acquisition fee ($795), tax & licenses, cap reduction ($89) and first month payment upfront for a total of $1,950.
What is interesting is the dealer was not eager to sell Audicare. They showed me the numbers in passing ($37 month) and since they did not residualize, I declined. They gladly wrapped up the paperwork and I was out of there in less than 10 minutes (that includes redoing my paperwork because they had the wrong address). This is a high volume So CA dealer so I was very surprised that they do not residualize Audicare.
Thank you to all the members who share information. I have leased four cars in the last four years based entirely on the information posted here. I could not have done it without this forum.

The math is correct. Only way to improve on the deal is to negotiate a better selling price, or use 5 MSDs to buy down the MF to .00005.

Here are details,
Audi Q5 Premium plus with Tech and Navi package
CAP cost - 44773.79
Cap reduction - 8032.19
Lease Residual Value - 26804.25
Acquisition Fee - 792
12,000/36 months
Monthly payment $350 (including all charges)
Using the $48,735 MSRP and $44,774 cap cost, along with the 36/12 lease numbers of .00030 and 55%, I get $521/mo before tax. Tax rate in Washington is close to 10%, right? If so, then the post-tax number is - wait for it - $572/mo.
So, the good news is that the dealer is not marking up the MF for more profit.
The bad news is that you'll lose that $8K if the vehicle is stolen or totaled during the lease.
Better to save that money and use it to help with the higher payment.

Market Value : 48,625
Dealer discount (3%) and $1000 Rebate (Audi Summer event) and with Audi Care added - $1555
Vehicle Price (Net after Rebate): $47,770
Money Factor is .0008. This is in NC state.
Due at Signing is $3000 which covers the 1st month payment, tag ($94.00) and doc ($598) fees and $2300 of the $2999 cap cost.
Monthly payment is at $555.00 (including taxes).
Residual at the end of the lease is $27,622.00)
Please let me know if this is a good deal. I am planning on asking the dealer to reduce my payments to $500 or so without going any higher further on the down payment.
Appreciate any feedback. Thanks again.
The list price for AudiCare on a Q5 is just $849.
This also adds 1% to the residual , or 56% in this case.
So, to recap
3% off MSRP (should be looking for 5%-6% off)
marked up AudiCare (should be $849)
$598 dealer fee (consider this a reduction to your discount)
.00080 MF (.00030 base. This adds $37/mo.)
Not a good deal.

36m/20k
MSRP $49,375
Selling price $45,000 less $1750 rebates = $43,250
Adjusted Cap $48,500
Residual $23,892
MF .0003
Payment $700 nothing out of pocket since taxes and fees into payment, only 1st month payment due at signing
NJ 7% tax
Acquisition fees, DMV fees and Document fees should total $1411
Is this payment fair? Seems high but maybe I'm just doing my calculations wrong as I'm new to leasing.

This is for Audi Q5 Premium Plus in WA state.
MSPR: $48,735
Autonation Savings: -$3,615
Customer Rebate: -$1,000
Price: $44,119
--
Sales tax (estimate): +$4,421.72
Documentation Fee: +$150
Tax Registration (estimate): +$300
Balance Due: $48,991.33
They want $1,500 down for a 36/10K, monthly payments with tax included is $550.
It is my understanding, that in Washington sales tax is a flight to the monthly payment, not all upfront. This looks like a purchase quote, not a lease quote.
Ask the dealer for the adjusted capitalized cost. Also, find out how the $1500 is going to be applied.

Are they losing money on this deal? He kept saying that I'm getting this car under the invoice.
Not your concern whether they are losing money or not. Trust me, they wouldn't make the deal if that were the case.

Selling Price: $36,970 (Includes $1750 rebate)
Cap Reduction: $89
Adjusted Capitalized Cost: $36,881
MF: 0.0003
Residual: $25,975 (59%)
Monthly Payment: $351 (incl 9% tax)
Appreciate you sharing your numbers with us.
Not heard of a dealer not residualizing AudiCare. Didn't realize it was an option.
