Looking to buy a base '16  wrx 6MT in CO but pay UT sales tax. 

I've been quoted what seems to be rather high MF of .00281 and just barely .00256

That looks like the 2015 model program..

Which is .00156 MF and 61% residual. (with the maximum .00050 markup on the MF).

So.. point out to them that they are using the program for the 2015... and, then be ready when they use the correct numbers, because it's obvious that they markup the money factor.

I placed an order for a white limited/mt6, dealer said to expect delivery around December. One thing they told me, which was news to me, is that even if the MF is lower now, it can't be "locked in" like a mortgage rate. The effective MF will be what it is when I take delivery.

A piece of info that might also be related/helpful, despite expectations of the fed to increase interest rate, they are choosing to keep rates steady until inflation normalizes. This is based on some news reports I read recently. Hopefully the MF will be unaffected or relatively the same when I pick the car up.

Do the MF rates get updated monthly?

Yes, the MF are updated monthly. Not sure how closely they tie to actions taken by the Fed on interest rates; for the WRX, it's more a matter of supply and demand that is keeping the MF high.

Each manufacturer has a different policy on locking in MF for cars that are ordered; I don't know what Subaru's is.

Can you plz breakdown exact formula you are using. The lease calculators online are all giving me a higher number so I need the actual calculation formula to show dealer. Also, verify money factor for WRX Premium 6mt in NY is .0016, dealer states it is .0021?? Thank you!!!

Maximum dealer markup on the money factor is .00050. You can do the math.

See here for the formula. On-line lease calculators are famous for making assumptions that aren't apparent.

You don't want a 24 month lease .. MF is horrible and the residual is not much better than for 36 months.

36/12 for WRX CVT Premium - 64% and .00170

Extra miles can be purchased up front a .10 per mile, and deducted from the calculated residual.

I am looking to do a 36/15 lease on a base WRX since the money factor and residuals are better for the base model. Problem is that the color I want is practically unavailable until October.

Anyone have any idea how the lease terms (residuals and money factor) will change next month? Should I suck it up and get a different color or wait until next month?
