You live in NY, the sales tax on the car will be paid according to the county you register the car in.  You will not have to pay NJ sales tax & NY sales tax.  I'm all for shopping different dealers, but make sure you add everything up & get the true cost of the entire lease.  In NY, Doc fees are capped at $75.  In NJ they are not capped.  

The only money you should be paying up front on a lease is 1st month, security deposit, acquisition fee, DMV fees.  The rest should get rolled into the payment.

WRX Premium - 65% and either .00160 (stick) or .00170 (CVT)
STI Base - 69% and .00175

I do not see an STI Premium, only STI Limited - 65% and .00170

Hello,

I have a sale price of $29,900 ($30,303 MSRP) on a 2016 WRX Premium 6MT. I had hoped to lease it for 12k miles/36 months. A few posts above suggest the Jan program has a MF of .00160 and a residual value of 64% (tier 1). I live in CT (6.35% sales tax) and I calculated a $0 down lease and all start up fees/costs paid in cash up front at ~$394 a month. They are quoting me $400. I can't reconcile the $6. Does my mthly number look correct? Thanks!

MF and residual are correct.

I get $371/mo.+tax, just like you... Ask them for the CAP cost, and see how it might differ from your sale price of $29,900.

Well, that'd be a pisser. I ordered the car and signed the sales contract at $29,900. There is no additional fee there - no carry over loan balance, nothing. Thanks for checking my math!

 Don't negotiate the payment; negotiate the best selling price and that will give you a lower lease payment

36/10 numbers:

Premium CVT - 65% and .00170
Limited CVT - 63% and .00150

Subaru does not offer 7500 mile leases, nor 30 month terms.

They were adding in the reg fees in case anyone cares. I also found out 36 mo 10k per year is .00160 and 65% on a prem. 6mt.

Subaru in New England may use a different bank for their lease deals; we don't have those numbers to confirm.

Should I be asking for the MF where the car will be registered or purchased? Does every zip code have a different MF or is it city, state, etc?

.00170 MF and 63%/61% residual.

Numbers are national, if using SMF. The six New England states may have different programs.

Perhaps the best choice is to lease for only 36months?

.00200 MF and 58% residual
.00220 MF and 52% residual

Add 2% for 12K/yr

With those numbers, I'd stick with 36 months.

The lease term requested was:
36months
10k miles/yr.
6% Tax Rate

Quote was $320/month. Using the residual/mf #'s I saw in this thread, it seemed like it should be more around $290.

Is the difference a higher MF? The only fees mentioned to be paid in cash were title/plates. Is there some other capitalized fee I may be neglecting in my calculation?

If I co-sign for somebody with less-than-stellar credit, will my credit be primarily used to set the MF or will it be the credit of the person I am co-signing for?

No idea on the specifics of your case.

I think a lot depends on how low the credit is for the other person. If they are in the mid-600s, then your credit may hold up. But, if it's lower than that, I'm pretty sure it will get bumped down.

I would never co-sign, unless I was willing to make the payments, if it all goes bad.

The dealer is permitted to mark up the MF by .00050, for extra profit.

The sales guy told me he will give me the final monthly cost for the lease the month I pick it up when the numbers will be available. So my question is:

What are the number this month?

36 month / 12K
(Michigan if it matter)

FYI, sticker price is 31,271 but my price after negociation is: 29,900.
If you can let me know what my monthly should be?

The current Subaru numbers are set to expire today. We should have the February numbers later this week.

.00175 MF and 69% residual.

Not sure that an OTD number is relevant, unless it is lease specific, and not a purchase total.

If your OTD number were the CAP cost, the payment should be $320/mo.+tax.
