2016 BMW 3-series Lease Questions

Do you have any information on CPO leases? The BMW website refers this as an option but they really don't have any details beyond that it's for 3 and 5 series. I'm assuming that means that they're supporting them?

If you do have info, I'd greatly appreciate knowing what the specifics are for a 2013 335i, 24 month (I assume this would be the most attractive term), 10 or 12k mi/year, and any info you have on how the residuals are calculated.

We have no information on CPO leases from BMW, though I recently read an article that discussed how popular they are becoming. Toyota and Lexus are offering them, as well.

Generally, the 3-Series numbers are national (as they are, this month).

Looks like the residual is reduced about $0.25/mile for the current mileage.

I come pretty close to the same numbers. $13,000 off MSRP is pretty good, even considering the $3000 dealer cash and the $3100 residual reduction.

$368/mo. with only MSDs down is really good.

What state, where tax is paid upfront?

Make sure the date of the warranty expiration is after the end of the lease term.

How is this for a new build quote from the dealer? I'm going to be leasing it. I wish I could add one more option and keep the $451.49 payment, but I'd have no idea how to tell the dealer "Do this, or I'm walking." to get the Harmon Kardon speaker upgrade!

Looking at my numbers, they may not be lying. On my sheet (see previous post) which I just posted, I have .00135 Base MF Buy Rate, too. Then, there are a whole lot of adjustments on mine, making it $.00121. I only have 121 because of my company partnership with BMW. I think the standard is a little different...

.00135 is the buy or base rate. Dealers can mark up the rate for extra profit (.00175 max), but you can certainly negotiate for the base rate. Don't let them tell you that it can't be done.

Okay.. your company gets a .00044 discount, but the dealer is then marking it back up by .00030, for extra profit.

The stuff at the end has to do with dealer profit, but it's irrelevant to your deal.

Acquisition fee is still $925, I think.. not $995

It's a good deal. Could be even better without the money factor markup.

Generally no. These are set at the regional or national level. The dealer may try to mark up the money factor from this base in which case you could negotiate it back down, but the listed factor is the best it's going to get.

36/15 on the 3-series is 60% this month. Except the 330e - that is 59%.

.00138 is the base rate this month; cannot negotiate it lower, can only use MSD to buy it down.

I was offered a owner's choice program lease with BMW in Georgia. This is for a new 2016 BMW 320i rear-wheel drive with the following packages: premium package, driver's assistance package, and navigation system.

The MSRP as listed on the website is $43,000.

Owner's advantage term is 36 month/10 miles per year.

The total down would just be document and taxes up front (Georgia TAVT) so this would equal $3,319 up front.

The monthly payment would then be $320.

Is this a good deal?

Owners Choice is different than a lease - it is a 'balloon' program.

Find out why the dealer is promoting this option over a traditional lease.

We don't have any good information on the OC program from BMW.

Thank you for your response. Because Georgia has wonky car tax laws (full 7% tax on car value whether you purchase or lease), the Owner's Choice Program is often promoted. My understanding, at least in Georgia, is that at the end of the "lease term," you can either purchase the car and refinance the balloon, or return the car to the dealership with no fee, as per a traditional lease.

I also believe there are similar programs from places like PenFed that offer lower rates than BMWFS so be sure to be thorough if that's the route you end up going.

You are correct...but if I purchase the car at the end of the Owner's Choice plan, I do not have to pay tax again on the residual....With a normal lease in Georgia, you have to pay tax 2x if you purchase at end of lease.

All of this aside, even if you look at it as a standard lease, would you consider the offer competitive?

Correct.. plus, don't you get a trade-in credit towards taxes, since the car is in your name?
