I wouldn't put money down on a lease. If the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.

It covers the remaining amount due on the lease. Since you prepaid with the down payment, you aren't reimbursed for that amount.

Much better to keep the money in your pocket and use it as MSD to buy down the MF .. MSD monies are returned at the end of the lease.

ok. Just for fun - if I did put the 5k down - you said the payments would be 651.  But the offer I got was 575.00.  Set aside the risk of putting money down - is that a good deal?  I guess what I'm asking is what's the lowest monthly payment that you calculate with 5K down given details provided

OK - using the MSRP from above ($64,445) and assuming that all $5K is used to lower the cap cost (which takes the cap cost to $53,000), I get a payment of $505/mo plus tax.

So, not all of the $5K is being used as cap reduction if you're being offered $575/mo.

What is the selling price?

I would ask for a breakdown of the $4350 due up front .. seems like a lot, even for NY.

So, you may still be on the hook for end of lease payments on your current car?

Might be good to continue shopping and find a dealer willing to help you more with the Lexus.

The selling price is the biggest driver of what your lease payment will be ... every $1000 you can save on the price saves about $28/mo on the payment.

But, you're already getting about $10K off the sticker ... not sure how much more there is to save.

67% or 61% and .00135. $2000 lease credit. 

5-7% off sticker before incentives is a good target to shoot for.

Using your selling price as the cap cost, I get $560/mo. If the $564/mo number includes tax, that's a pretty good deal.

60% for 36/12, 58% for 36/15.

Going from 12K/yr to 15K/yr will raise the payment $27-$29/mo.

The amount of tax makes me think this is a purchase offer, not a lease. MI either taxes the monthly payment or determines the tax against the sum of all the lease payments.

I would confirm with the dealer what is going on.

Was wrong, it actually is exactly as you speak, 769 per month. Now the question is can I do better? I could have sworn I saw the dealer cost is 71200, but a 4000 credit or something below it, so it is possible they are still making 3k....

We don't track selling prices, but in general for BMW, 5-7% off sticker, before incentives, is a good target.

36/15 numbers are .00135 and 58%. Miles are deducted at the rate of about .20/mile from the residual, or $1400. That would be offset by a bigger discount from sticker.

Using your numbers, and ignoring the demo miles, I get $620/mo with tax. So, you'd be getting a discount of about $18/mo for 7000 miles.

They changed the rate to $0.00175 and from their worksheet they started with 58% with 12k and then lowered after applying the extra $3k. It looks to me like they are not giving me that great of deal. Thoughts?

The residual has been lowered by $1689 to account for the existing 7000 miles. (or, more likely, about 6750 miles). So, for your calculations, use a residual percentage of 55.5%.

If $55K is the CAP cost, I get $663/mo.+tax, using the marked up money factor. $626/mo.+tax with the base factor. If the CAP cost is $52K, then $574/mo.+tax or $539/mo.+tax.

The money factor markup might seem bad, but the overall deal isn't bad. That's pretty cheap for a $66,520 MSRP vehicle. Make sure you'll be under warranty for the entire lease term.
