SE Toyota uses a different method of determining residual ... the national numbers show 62% for FWD and 63% for AWD (36/15)

Southeast Toyota Distributors and SETF.

They do their own thing, separate from Toyota and TFS.

Lease info:
Lease for 3 years 36k miles is: $621 a month. $1100 due on delivery. Residual is $34063. Money factor is .00250. Best price is $45700. All figures calculated with San Francisco tax.

Is this a good deal? I tried calculating the lease online and I got a much lower monthly lease below $600.

Assuming the MSRP is $52.404, I get a payment of $523/mo before tax with the marked up MF; $475/mo plus tax for the base MF.

Ask the dealer what the adjusted cap cost is, and how they got there from the selling price. This should help bridge the gap.

I haven't heard from the dealer regarding the $1100 due on delivery. From their website, it says based on 36 months and 1000 down, excludes tax, tag, registration, title, and dealer fees. $0 security deposit. I will let you know as soon as I got respond from the dealer.

I've just received the respond from dealer. $1100 is for 1st month payment and registration (license fee).
Gross cap cost is $46,430. If the money factor is 0.00190 the payment is $566.72

We don't have a lot of information on SETF leases.

But, we see a lot of AutoNation quotes.
That purchase quote isn't relevant to a lease, except for the selling price.
And, the lease quote doesn't give you any details about money factors or residuals.

So, I thought I got a pretty decent deal until the dealer called me back today saying they were still waiting for me to pay my remaining balance on my existing Toyota lease.

On Saturday, we went into a dealer and thought we signed this deal:
Gross Cap Cost: 38,811.73
Cap Reduction: 1,524.27
Adjusted price: 37,287.46
MF:.0019
Money Down: 2,500 which included first month's payment plus taxes and licenses in MN.
They calculated our payments to be $395.99

We originally were going to put down $2000.00 and they said payments would be $419, we put down a little more to get our payments a little lower.

We told the sales person that the other dealer offered to take back our car 3 month's early and would pay the remaining lease payments and have payments to be $419- the other dealer said $2000 + first month's payment.

Sales Price $38,100
MF .0019

Anyways, today they called me telling me there was an oversight and I still have to pay the remaining $800 on the lease. I have nothing in writing other than their word stating they were taking my car/paying off my old lease. I finally got the manager to agree to pay half of my existing lease. Is this fair? I know in the big picture I still got a better deal than what the dealer said but is this fair? Does this happen often?

What happens is pretty common, when there is poor communication between the customer and the dealer - and, nothing in writing.

It's not perfect that you're splitting the cost of the remaining payments, but it's better than you having to come up with the entire $800.

Call it a learning experience and enjoy your new Highlander.

Looking at the FWD Limited, but may also consider AWD due to availability. What are the MF and Residual. Is there any other numbers I need to know that are "hidden"? Thanks.

Residuals are 64%/65% for FWD/AWD. MF is probably around .00190

You'll have an acquisition fee (I think TFS is $650). TFS is one of the few captive banks that doesn't include GAP insurance with their leases, so the F&I office will try to sell you GAP coverage, as well.

We have our sources.

So, in GA you pay sales tax against the full amount of the negotiated price, which will make your lease payments pretty expensive.

What trim level is this? FWD or AWD? Residual values vary based on that information - and, we don't have reliable residual numbers for GA, unfortunately.

MF is around .00190.

Any way you look at it, this is going to be pretty expensive to lease.

You don't want to negotiate a payment; you want to negotiate a selling price, just as if you were buying the car.

Use the "make / model / year" pull downs at the top of the page to link to the price tools.

And, Toyota MSDs seem to be very spotty. No official information, but other posters have noted that they've been able to add it to their deal.
