Thanks Michaell. I figured out what was going on, they basically added a bunch of fees and rolled it into the costs of the leases. Some really egregious fees, in fact. But I was able to find a dealer in town who was able to get me a deal at basically the exact amount I was calculating (i.e. minimal fees on top of the $575 bank fee). Thanks! Going to pick it up tonight!

Hi,

I'm new to leasing and have been reading this forum. I got quoted today for a 2016.5 CX-5 GT AWD for 10K/36 in New York for around 335 a month.

I only got a printout of the Residual which is 19,112 which is 62% of the MSRP of 30,825. The only way I got close to the 335 a month is assuming a MF of .00014 and a sales price of around 29650.

Can someone tell me the Residual and MF on that vehicle? Is 335 a month a good deal with 0 down? Due at signing is around 2K but they pay the first month so around 1.67K due at signing.

Very new new to this.

Looking  to to lease the 2016.5 CX 5 GT AWD with the I-active sense and GT package. Dealer in Massachussets (but I am a NYC resident). MSRP is $33,425.

Quotes $595 acquisition fee and no disposition fee. Lease is for 36 months and 10k miles. Says residual value is 62% and MF is .0014.

Nothing down and 1st month to be paid by dealer. Then, $393/mo including taxes, registration.

Haven't really negotiated yet but do these numbers make sense? What would be a good deal?

Those are the correct numbers, .00014 MF and 62% residual.

With those numbers, I get $299/mo.+tax.

What is the breakdown of the $1670 upfront? Seems like a lot. If it includes NYS sales tax, then the payment looks a little high.

Really need to find out the selling price and adjusted CAP cost to do the calculation.

Hello Michaell - looking to lease 2016.5 CX5, trim package TR, FWD. Have a sale price of $24,055. They are quoting me a lease for 36 months of $238.32 with $2,000 down - 10K/year. Zip code is 94507. How's that stack up to what you have seen? What's better terms? Thinking of getting 12K instead of 10K?? Novice to leasing - thanks for your help.

What is the MSRP?
Is $2000 the full amount due at signing?
If you think you might need 12K/yr, it's best to get it. It will raise the payment by $10/mo. or less.

Yes, you can choose to roll the taxes and fees into the cap cost; but, as you've noted, pay attention to the breakdown of those items.

Had a purchase price of 25,900 including destination fee (MSRP should be 27,415). Lease offer was for 36/12k with $0 Down Payment (in NY sales tax will get paid up front) and 36 payments of $300. Fine print says I pay "Lease Inception fee" Any idea what that usually is?

Either way though - when I calculate it out with those numbers I think it should be $251.07 per month plus tax. Is that right?

An amorphous term like "lease inception fee" can mean whatever the dealer wants it to mean. The Mazda acquisition fee is $595.

With those numbers, I get $253/mo.
If this is an actual offer, you need to get them to break it down for you. Total amount due at signing (and, what it's for), and the adjusted CAP cost.

Cool - So I was able to get a quote for the invoice of the car - 26,800 (MSRP 27,500). So that plus the 595 inception fee, money factor of .00014 and residual of 62% gets me a price of $0 down and $295 per month x 36 months (plus tax). I feel like many others are getting prices negotiated well below invoice though. Should I be looking for better?? Obviously given the agreed price, the lease parameters look kosher

We don't track selling prices - use the 'make / model / year' pull downs at the top of the page to link to the price tools. Your goal is to beat the Edmunds TMV price.

The terms were very confusing for sure! From what I could tell the were rolling the Acquisition Fee into the lease and there was no money up front other than the document fees and title/registration. So all in all at the signing of the lease it was $301.43 and then $388/month.

Hoping to negotiate the price of the vehicle down a little more when it comes time to purchase.

Any idea how far out do we get numbers for the following month?

Those numbers don't seem to match what we have.

Did the deal on Saturday, MSRP 32,400 36 months 10k per year 315.60 per month
Amount due at lease signing was 325 dollars which consisted of SC tax and tag transfer fee, Mazda paid the first month payment and I also was eligible for 750 Mazda lease loyalty
Gross cap cost was 31443 which included the 595 acquisition fee less the 750 for an adj cap cost of 30693. I feel I received a great deal.
