I live in NJ looking to lease 2016.5 Mazda CX-5 GT with GRAND TOURING TECHNOLOGY PACKAGE and I-ACTIVSENSE PACKAGE. I am looking for MF and Residual Value and if any cash back or Labor Day incentives.
I signed a 36 month deal yesterday in Texas for a 2016.5 Touring with Bose/Moonroof.
MSRP: 27245 Sales Price: 26799 (26099 + 700 check cut back to me from the dealer + 199 for wheel locks/tints) Sales Tax: 1644 (Texas tax is on the whole sales price which was rolled into the cap cost) Doc fees: 150 Title/License: 190 Vehicle Inventory Fee: $53 Aquisition Fees: 595
Gross Cap Cost: 29431 Cap Reduction: 500 labor day cash Adjusted Cap cost: 28931 Residual Value: 16619 (61% for 12K miles/year) Deprecation: 12312 Rent Charge: 229 Total base of monthly payments 12542
Monthly payment: 348 for 35 months (since Mazda pays the first month) plus $700 check Down payment: 0
I believe my money factor was 0.0014 but I can't seem to figure out how that calculates in since the rent charge is only $229. I found a website that said that when you have a "rent charge," the MF equals Rent charge/[(Sales Price + Residual Value)*36] which comes out to be 0.00014. Is that correct?
I had negative equity on my previous lease so I chose not to work it into the new lease and instead asked the dealership to cut me back a check for the remaining payoff amount of $700. The dealership told me that they had to add it into the sales price of the vehicle but could then cut me back the check. That additional amount into the sales price got taxed but it only amounted to roughly $40 dollars so I said OK.
At the time I thought this was a solid deal but when I got home I started looking at the numbers and second guessing myself. Was this a good deal?

Leased a brand new CX 5 GT w/tech pkg on Monday in NJ. I didn't pay attention to MF and residual because I have no intention of buying vehicle. My terms were $0 down and $350 per mos for 24mos/12k lease. I lurked on this site for two weeks gathering information and it was incredibly helpful. I can provide details later this week if useful for others.

I've seen other websites use a 4 decimal money factor rate (i.e. .0017 is 4.0% interest rate). What is the difference? Does the .00001 MF you are using equate to what % APR

Almost zero... Finance charges on a typical lease would be less than $1/mo.

Hello, please let me know if this is a good deal. here is the lease worksheet attached. let me know if anything missing. anything could be better, like the price, etc.
This is for a 2016.5 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD with Tech package. & Soul Red paint added $300 charge. in Minneapolis, Minnesota
36 month term. 10k miles a year. We had it run at $4,000 total out of pocket. to include the money down, all fees, tax title license, etc. being told this is $288/month with $4,000 a signing.

The tax amount looks wrong - doesn't MN tax the monthly payment?
With the numbers you've given, and excluding the $4K, I get $345/mo before tax.

I'm confused. Are you saying without the $4k due at signing (so at Zero down?) we would be $345 a month? or?
After reading about leases, I think we should just pay all the start up non taxed and put nothing else down, I'd like to know what that should be.
I already emailed them back and asked as I do not see the "cap cost" nor "adjusted cap cost". not sure what the "price" we are paying for the car. their website says they give a $750 discount. off the MSRP.
I believe in MN we pay the tax upfront. but it's just for the portion leased??? not the total price of the car. so lets say if the cost of the lease is $14k over 36 months you pay tax on that up front - I think.

OK, that makes more sense. A number of states tax the sum of the payments, and collects it up front.
Yes, $345/mo is without the $4K cash - or however much is left after covering the up front taxes and fees.
Yes, you want to pay the government fees up front, but if you have the option, roll the tax into the cap cost and pay it monthly. If something happens to the car during the lease, you won't have prepaid tax on a car you aren't driving.
I just got another quote. not a lot of details but I think his money factor is high?
With $4,000 down on a 36 month, 10,000 mile per year lease your payment would be $308.76 on that vehicle. We do have access to two of them so you do not have to wait for one to be shipped in. We also have one coming to my store at the same time as the store you found this incoming unit.

$750 off of $32,225 does not sound big. I'd like more. but bigger than the first quote had at $490. which was supposed to be $750 per their website
And speaking of that, the first quote gal I got her to send me correct lease info. she admitted it was incomplete and not correct. which to me I was like why are you sending this to us then? anyhow
Now the 1st quote is also $750 off.
Here's the details: 36months. 12k miles (this will have to be fixed a I told her 10k miles per year) ugh Cap cost reduction $4,000 Monthly pymt is $280.28 Amount due at lease signing or delivery is $4,280 (I told her to use $4,000) looks like she has $4,000 cap cost reduction + first payment which is why $4,280 due at signing)
Turn in fee at end of lease $300 (never had this ever on a lease before)
$14,390.08 total cost of lease for 36 months
Gross cap cost is $33,407.57 The agreed value of the vehicle is $31,475 adjusted cap cost $29,407.57 Residual $19,335 depreciation $10,072.57 rent charge $17.51 for a total 10,090.08 Buy at end of lease $19,335 + $50 option fee (never had that before either)
Agreed value is $31,475 Sales tax $835.82 Title, license and registration fees$426.75 Acquisition fee $595 dealer doc fee $75 = Gross cap cost $33,407.57
Total taxes and fees $3205.15
So 1) is this good? great? correct? 2) what things should we pay at signing, and what should we roll into the lease? and what will that be due at signing and what will the monthly be?
also, a bit of a problem. she now mentioned the car has 50 miles on it. says from a dealer transfer they did on it before we came along. and then she drove it. I told her we want a NEW car, with like 6-14 miles on it. so now we'd have to take another color. they have a white one everything the same with 9 miles on it.

With your numbers, I get $349/mo with tax.

And speaking of that, the first quote gal I got her to send me correct lease info. she admitted it was incomplete and not correct. which to me I was like why are you sending this to us then? anyhow
Now the 1st quote is also $750 off.
Here's the details:
36months.
12k miles (this will have to be fixed a I told her 10k miles per year) ugh
Cap cost reduction $4,000
Monthly pymt is $280.28
Amount due at lease signing or delivery is $4,280 (I told her to use $4,000) looks like she has $4,000 cap cost reduction + first payment which is why $4,280 due at signing)
Turn in fee at end of lease $300 (never had this ever on a lease before)
$14,390.08 total cost of lease for 36 months
Gross cap cost is $33,407.57
The agreed value of the vehicle is $31,475
adjusted cap cost $29,407.57
Residual $19,335
depreciation $10,072.57
rent charge $17.51
for a total 10,090.08
Buy at end of lease $19,335 + $50 option fee (never had that before either)
Agreed value is $31,475
Sales tax $835.82
Title, license and registration fees$426.75
Acquisition fee $595
dealer doc fee $75
= Gross cap cost $33,407.57
Total taxes and fees $3205.15
So
1) is this good? great?
