I was hoping you could comment on this offer from the state of Florida. It looks reasonably good to me. Though I don't know what "lease surcharge" is and I'm assuming the sale price includes destination:

In Florida, tax is assessed against the monthly payment, so I question the $814.66.

Using your numbers, as is, I get $318/mo plus tax, so pretty close to the quote.

Never seen a 'lease surcharge' before - might be another way for the dealer to make a bit of extra money. Negotiate that out with a lower selling price; same with the dealer fee.

Thanks so much for your help.....I was able to avoid a dealer who tried scamming me by inflating the money factor and reducing the residual....to his benefit I'm sure

Dealers cannot modify the residual .. it's set by the bank.

They can mark up the MF, however.

A dealer suggested me to lease a 24 months CX-5 Sport FWD since he said the RV is 81% as the MF stands as 0.00014, which I can't believe. Are those numbers true? Thank you!

Partially true.

I agree with the 81% residual for 24/12 on the Sport FWD Automatic, but the MF is an eye-popping .00200, which sort of mitigates that high residual.

36 months is the only term with the .00014 MF.

Term is 3years/15k miles with 0 down at $403.11 with tax and fees included. The money factor is 0.00037, the residual is 57% at buy out of $17,575.10"

The residual is set by the bank; dealer cannot adjust it. Base MF for 36 months is .00014.

Dealer will only tell me that residual value is $19,675. They want me to out 2k down and that is inclusive of taxes,title, DMV, fees, etc. monthly payment would be $329 and "not a penny more". This lease is 36 months 12k miles. First time leasing a car so all help needed!

What lease term and how many miles per year are you looking for?

Dealers are famous for quoting a monthly payment and nothing else.

If you can get them to provide the MSRP and the adjusted cap cost (selling price plus any taxes and fees you are not paying up front), we can model the payment.

Lastly, what state and tax rate is this?

For queens NY. THe MSRP was about $32,500. It was negotiated down $31,500. I was told 2k would cover all taxes and fees and DMV cost ($330). The lease is 12k miles and 36 months. Does any of this help?

I get $331/mo with those numbers - pretty darn close to the $329/mo quote from the dealer.

Looks like that might be the gross CAP, after adding the $595 acquisition fee.
But, there has to be a big discount, or you wouldn't be down to $305/mo.

You need the adjusted or net CAP cost.

How much is due at signing?
State and tax rate?

I'll guess that isn't "lease cash", because there isn't any on this vehicle. It's just the dealer discount from MSRP.
