On that PJ, I have to think that the color didn't help it any. A little beefier presentation, and perhaps not photographing barefoot (maybe that's just me noticing such things), should present well to potential buyers.

I will admit I was tempted to do the reservation on the EX90 as another option, but I quickly realized I would strongly prefer the related Polestar 3 at this stage in my life. I showed the pics of the EX90 to my boss, who would like to get an EV for his next vehicle (he currently has a Q7). He simply replied that he couldn’t get a Volvo, claiming they were the quintessential soccer mom car.
And if you want an electrified XC60, that surely will be coming…Volvo is targeting 2030 to only be selling all-electric vehicles.

My mailman bought my Mazda 626 years ago. I had it on the driveway with a sign and he left me a note in the box. Saw that car for years parked outside the post office.

I’ve taken a different stance about shenanigans like this over the years. If people have the money to allow themselves to be gouged like this, then more power to the dealer. It’s not like someone selling a glass of water for 100 bucks to someone dying of thirst after finding their way out of a desert. Although I think that Ford is doing the right thing by trying to stop this practice. They just have to follow through with their word of stopping allocations to dealerships that ignore their warning.

Do what I've recommended to many, many people in person and on other message boards I frequent. Nuke them on the post-delivery survey if you feel you've been deceived, mislead, or otherwise taken advantage of. It absolutely grabs attention at the dealer level and in some instances, the manufacturer.

Yup. I see vans like that all the time. Maybe not with that interior. And the manual trans in a van is not too common, but not what I would say is rare. I think the Delica offers more power, at least compared to that particular toyota.

When you buy a new car, its value begins to depreciate — but not as nearly quickly as in the past. For example, 5-year-old used cars sold in 2022 had lost an average of just 33.3% of their value by that point, according to a new analysis by iSeeCars. That’s down from 40% in the 2021 analysis.
Meanwhile, 3-year-old used cars sold in 2022 had depreciated by 17%, the smallest drop on record. Pandemic-related supply chain woes are slowing the depreciation of car values. Because new and used cars are harder to find, many vehicles already on the road are holding their value better.
Today’s soaring price of gasoline means fuel-efficient cars are especially likely to hold their value, iSeeCars says.
However, some vehicles still lose value far more quickly than others. These tend to be large luxury vehicles or full-size SUVs. The vehicles that lose the most value after five years are:
1. BMW 7 Series: Loses 56.9% of its value after five years, on average 2. Maserati Ghibli: 56.3% 3. Jaguar XF: 54% 4. Infiniti Qx80: 52.6% 5. Cadillac Escalade ESV: 52.3% 6. Mercedes-Benz S-Class: 51.9% 7. Lincoln Navigator: 51.9% 8. Audi A6: 51.5% 9. Volvo S90: 51.4% 10. Ford Expedition: 50.7%
The cars that hold their value the best are the Jeep Wrangler (7.3% depreciation over the first five years), Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (8.7%) and Porsche 911 (14.6%).
Other cars on the list that held their value well include the Toyota Tacoma (14.9%), Honda Civic (16.3%) and Subaru BRZ (18.2%).
In its analysis, iSeeCars looked at more than 3 million 3-year-old and 5-year-old vehicles sold in 2022.

When my wife bought her 96 SHO, the sales and delivery experience was horrible. We picked up the car and drove it home, all good. She goes to the store and the car is totally dead when she goes to start it. Calls me up and I come down to look at it. After a while I figured out that the battery terminals were loose. A few days later, we drove to a family get together at one of her uncles. One the way there a cruiser drove by and I saw him really eyeing the car. I then realized we didn't have an emissions sticker on the windshield. After he drove by, I saw his brake lights so I nailed the gas and we never saw him after that. When I called the dealership to complain about the missing sticker, they said they would mail it to me which could take a week or so, or I could come up and get it(40 miles). The sales survey never showed up, so I called Ford to ask why I didn't receive one. When they went to verify my address, it was listed in the town where we bought the car(probably the salesman's address). I requested a new one and blasted them. The salesman wasn't working there any more when I brought the car in for service.

I got one car where they forgot to put on the inspection sticker. This was the Acura dealer that first gave me the wrong car to take home (and they were 2 hours from my house). It was actually the replacement car (the one they were supposed to give me originally and all the DMV paperwork was done for) when I brought the first one back (instead of making them come and pick it up!). I did not realize until I got home they forgot the sticker. the seemed pretty uninterested when I called them, didn't even apologize, and just threw one in the mail.
needless to say I never went back to that dealer. and no clue if I got a survey from them.

Had the first year 1976 Japanese Isuzu Opel and it was piece of crap from day 1! The a/c kept blowing up for some reason and then on my first day of work at the post office, the tranny fell out as I was trying to get on I-95 at Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. going to my place in Boca Raton. What a disaster really & since it was my first day of orientation, was low on funds so my dad picked up the bill. This was on December 27th of 1980. Mid-January, the front left axle came off and had to fix that but said no more. February 1st I took out a $2500 loan to buy a 1979 ex-rental, a Datsun B-210 hatch. Folks refused to lend me the cash so I just did the loan thing which they kept protesting about. Never looked back after that & liked the Datsun for what it was, basic transportation.

Mentioning surveys, the dealerships who I had the worst service with, never sent me a survey (Cadillac and Kia). The best service came from those who survey me every time I pass by their stores (Acura and Honda).
The owner of the Cadillac and Kia dealerships just bought my Acura dealership. So, unfortunately, I’ll probably have to look to the other Acura dealership in town the next time I’m in the market.
my new area only has 1 Acura dealership anywhere close. So no surprise, they don't have the constant oil change coupons the competing dealers offered where I used to live! I assume they are not super competitive on selling price either, though I don't suspect I will ever need to worry about that again.
My narrative about not getting post-delivery surveys sent to me, after a poor delivery experience, has been corroborated by some others here. I am vindicated 😉.
