    Greetings moderators,
I'd like to get your opinion on a deal I'm negotiating:
Audi A4 Premium Plus Quattro in Maryland with 36/10K
    MSRP $49125
    Sale price $45927
Net cap cost of ~$48,683 with tax rolled in (6% of sales price)
    MF .00079
    Residual 59%
1st month and fees paid up front (~$2000)
    Monthly payment of ~$609

    Does that sound right?
Is the current Audi acquisition fee $795?
Thanks for providing this valuable service!

.00079 MF and 59% residual is correct.
$795 is correct for the acq.fee.
I get the same number, $609/mo.

First payment and acq.fee is $1400. That leaves $600 for title/registration and doc fees. If that adds up, it looks like a fair deal. Maryland taxes are a killer, though.

    Thanks kyfdx!
Agreed on MD taxes - I never understood why the consumer is expected to pay tax on the residual... It makes no sense (other than to the state and the bank, of course).

Looking to do multiple security deposits. I see that each one reduces the money factor by .00005 points. Is this something that a dealer can change or is it a fixed amount that every dealer must honor? I want to know if it's something else that I must negotiate.

This is fixed by Audi Financial. Dealer cannot modify this.
In a similar fashion that a dealer and markup the MF for extra profit, can they "markdown" the amount someone can receive from a security deposit? For example, I put down 5 security deposits which would drop my lease MF by 0.00025 points but the dealer only drops my MF by 0.00015 points and then keeps the other 0.00010 to themselves as profit. Is this allowed?

No - the MSD program is fixed in the discount applied. The dealer can mark up the MF before applying the MSD discounts, but not the discounts themselves.

    Hello,

I was at the dealer this weekend and this is what I was offered. By my math, it's a little off, just checking to see if I can get a little help/guidance.

    a4 quattro premium plus, 36 months, 7500/yr

    Msrp $48,890
    Sell price $43,962
    Fees $314
    Sales tax 1,858 (Philly 8%)
    Net Trade allowance $300

$499/month They said they were using mf rate of .00099 & residual of 59%. I believe the new mf rate is .00079 based on what I'm reading above. PLEASE ADVISE. THANKS.

    A few thoughts:

    1. Yes, the base MF for 36 month leases is .00079. Either the dealer is marking it up or they've given you a quote for 39 or 42 month lease
    2. The 36/7.5 residual is 60%, not 59%
    3. There is an additional 3% lease tax in PA - your total sales tax would be 11%
    4. In PA, the monthly payment is subject to tax - find out what the $1858 represents
    5. What does the $2500 cover? Up front fees? Cap reduction? Get a full breakdown from the dealer.

    Thanks a bunch!

So the mf rate is in fact .00079 & the 36/7.5 is actually 60%
No where does it mentioned the add'l 3% lease tax, the sheet I have says $1858 sales tax with an asterisk that says 'finance tax 8%'. I will find out what that number represents.
I will also find out if the $2500 down payments is going exclusively to cap cost reduction.

Based on the numbers, what should my monthly payment be assuming the 11% sales tax as well as the 8% that they are showing & assuming the $2500 goes exclusively to cap reduction? I'm coming up with $425 (8% tax) & $436 (11%)...am I way off?

The "finance tax" is applicable only if you buy the car. You're not, so the 11% monthly sales tax on the payment applies. Dealers love to do this to confuse folks.

And, the cap cost is the negotiated selling price plus any taxes or fees you are not paying up front, less any cap reduction. So, we'd need to know the pre cap reduction price in order to model a payment.

    .00079 MF and 54% residual.
    Money factor marked up.

Basically, everything you were told is BS. Prestige models aren't in high demand to lease, because the residuals are 4% lower than the Premium Plus model. If your area was really one of the top sales regions, it would be because they give aggressive deals, not crappy ones.

I really encourage you to look for a loaded up Premium Plus model. $70/month less. Plus, shop another dealer, because this one has their head up their ----.

Looks like maybe you are in Maryland, considering the nearly $4000 in costs added on to the selling price?

Thanks much. Yes, am in Maryland. Hadn't realized until very recently how unfortunate that is when you want to lease a car!

Here is what I was given.

    Msrp $48,890
    Sale price $43,962.97
Gross cap cost $44,757.97 (appears to include destination charge 795)
Cap cost reduction $1,816.08 (1,516.08 + $300 net trade allowance)
    Adjusted cap cost $42,941.89
    Residual $29,334 (60%)
I was told ".00079 is buy rate, we are selling it at the minimum mark up of .00099."
I also see something that says Depreciation charge $13,607, Rent charge $2575, Total of base MP $16,183.....does that sound right?

Does this help in factoring what my monthly payment should be on a4 quattro premium plus 36/7.5?? Also sounds like I should be making sure my full $2,500 down payment be applied to cap reduction....correct?

With the base MF, the payment drops to $435/mo.

Hello Mods, I just heard back from the dealer about the deal I asked about in an earlier post:

    Premium + quattro
    Negotiated $45101
    Drive Off $2000
    Term 42 mos. @ 12k
    In Michigan 6% sales tax

So, the rep tells me the MF is 0.00109 with a res. of 58. MSRP 48775 negotiated 45851 reduction of 2924.00 679 in fees 795 acq. fee Cap Cost 47336 w/2k @ signing Monthly $610. I'd like your opinion on those numbers. Are the MF and residue correct and does the math work out to what he quoted. You all said that you got 549 tax incl. with the lower negotiated price from the earlier post. I get 515 w/tax with the new #s. Just curious what angle he's coming from if he's got one at all. Thanks again

    Hi Michaell,

Would you be able to give me the numbers for NJ

    Premium 36 & 42 months for 10k & 12k
    Premium Plus 36 & 42 months for 10k & 12k

Also, I was told that the lease specials (program deals) are always the better deal to take rather than leasing a car that is not a program deal. Do you agree with this statement or can you get a better deal by negotiating?

    Thank you

    .00099 MF and 54% residual for 42/12.
58% is the residual for 36/12.

Your calculations don't work out, because they didn't give you the correct residual.

Is this the payment the dealer is quoting you with those prices? If so, the math checks out.

Only way to improve on it is to get a better selling price or use MSDs to buy down the MF.

I'd like to express my gratitude to the Mods for their invaluable info and advice. Being able to talk to sales reps using the jargon that I suppose most consumers don't have a clue about is a weapon that everyone should have at their disposal. I could hear the surprise and hesitation in their voices when I mentioned MF figures and other terms I've learned here. Again, I thank you because I just purchased my first Audi and hope I got a good deal.

A side note for others shopping that may read this. I used the Google machine a lot and actually got the rep to offer invoice because of a deal I got from a dealer in Nashville, TN (I'm in Michigan) that was at invoice. It had the tech pkg which put the monthly out of range for me but my local rep got his manager to offer invoice after I sent a pic of the offer I had the Nashville rep put in writing. I grunted and moaned on the phone when he gave me the at invoice monthly. Got a call a few minutes later with the below invoice offer. After working the Edmund's lease payment calculator I knew I was trying to get 42600 (got 42900). They also let me put all money due at signing on my credit card. They said they had a $2000 limit but I asked could I put it all on the card, checked with manager and said if that's what will close the deal it's fine. I have the cash, and I've actually made CR payment of all money after doing the deposit to hold the car, but want the points lol. Anyway, my advice is listen to the Mods and make sure you work the dealer as much as possible. I couldn't have done it without the Mods thanks again.

    Here's the deal:

Premium + quattro w/cold weather, mats, metallic paint and a few other low cost options
    MSRP 45870 42/12
Invoice 43208 Negotiated 42900 2500 due with 872 to cap reduction after fees. Monthly 509.18 original MF was .00104 rep up front with .00005 point bump for profit. Car under invoice seemed like a good trade off. Got a call after providing info for credit app saying that I was right at the edge of A tier. If they used B tier numbers monthly would go up. So, to keep the deal at the monthly negotiated they had to up the price to 43034 to get me the A tier MF. So, instead of the MF being at .00104 it went down to .00099. My due at signing or monthly didn't change. After everything, are the numbers solid and is the deal a good one.

If you want AudiCare, you need to add it to the lease before it's done. That way, the residual is 1% higher. Not sure that I would purchase it, otherwise.

Sorry to be a total idiot, but trying to help my sister lease a new car. Old one (2002) got totaled yesterday, so not much time to look around. Would you be kind enough to provide MF and residual for A4 Premium Plus Quattro w/ tech pkg on Long Island? Looking for a 36/10K or 36/12K (doesn't really need this much mileage). Considering adding Audi Care, but not sure. Any advice so we don't look like a walking target going in to the dealer would really be appreciated. Thanks! Does the .00079 MF and 59% for 10K, 58% for 12K hold true in NY? Would a 7.5K have a higher residual?

    Thank you.

Hey all, long time BMW guy getting his first Audi

Looking to lease a FWD, premium plus model, in blue metallic. The MSRP of the car on the dealer website is $43,765. I think I can get it down to $40,500 or so. What should the lease look like for 36 months and 10k miles a year, minimum drive off, in California? What money factor should I look for? Is the residual set by Audi Financial or the dealership?

Also, some additional question if possible:

    1. All cars in the dealership include the USB cables - can I ask to remove them? I don't want to pay $120 for something that costs $10. And if it has to be included, are they included in the warranty??
    2. Do you recommend setting some kind of security deposit?
    3. I am thinking about offering the dealer a lump sum, 36 month payment in advance for a deeper discount. Will they consider it and is it a good idea?
    4. Is there any switch incentive? Coming from another 'luxury brand to Audi'?

Thank you so much in advance! Great forum

Those numbers are correct. Residual would be 60% for 7.5K miles per year.

.00034 and 57% for 36/10 on FWD Premium Plus

    1. One of my favorite maxims - "if you don't ask, you don't get". Worst they can do is say no.
    2. Audi does offer an MSD program. With the low MF to begin with, you can do 5 MSDs to lower the MF to .00009.
    3. Audi does offer a one-pay program for leases; the MF would drop to .00005 in that case.
    4. There is a $750 loyalty incentive on the 2017 A4, but nothing for conquest

Thanks so much. Not sure if she can go this high, but at least we have some info to work with. Much appreciated.

    Hello Michaell,
I'm looking for 2017 A4 Prestige FWD with driver assistant, sport, and warm weather packages; with 36/15k and selling price at $47360, what would MF, RV, and monthly payments be?
Also, by adding Audi Care, how much does it change those numbers?

    Thank you

We would need to know the MSRP to calculate a payment.

.00034 and 51% for 36/15 on FWD Prestige.

AudiCare adds 1% to the residual.

    Hi everyone,
may i ask have anyone tried audi premier purchase? Why is it not popular even it seems to give more savings than a normal lease?

I'm also interested if anyone has insight into Audi's Premier Purchase program. Basically, as I understand it, the deal involves (a) purchasing the car with a balloon loan, and (b) being given the right to sell the car back to the dealer at a set price and date before the balloon payment would be due. It has mileage limits just like a lease, and appears to function just like a lease while resulting in lower monthly payments. Seems likely there's a catch somewhere that's not apparent.

In my experience the balloon programs generally end up with similar payments to a lease. If the Premier Purchase payments are lower, I'd want to know why.

What's MF and residual for 36/15K Quattro Premium Plus in Dallas Fort Worth area. If anyone on this forum has a good deal in DFW area and able to refer?
Texas is a state where you get charged full tax on the MSRP... I want to aggressively negotiate MSRP to offset that extra cost... What would be a good price on Quat P+ ? Going through true car or Costco helps? I doubt dealer would offer any tax credits on 2017 Audi A4, may be 2016.
Does Audi care makes a difference to RV?
    Thank you in advance

    .00079 MF and 56% residual

MSRP is fixed. What you want to negotiate is the selling price. TrueCar and Costco are for those who don't feel they can negotiate on their own.

6% off MSRP is pretty aggressive for Audi.

AudiCare adds 1% to the residual.

First of all, kyfdx, thanks so much for your help and expertise!

I am a real newb when it comes to understanding leases, but I am learning more. Could you give me a sense of what I would expect for an A4 Premium Plus Quattro with technology package and sport package. 36 months/12k miles, I am located in San Francisco.

My dealer quoted me $768/month with $0 down. What is your take on a lease like this? Please provide all metrics you can, including expected monthly payment.

    Thanks so much!

@control323 without the MRSP, the sale price, and details like that it is impossible to give you an expected monthly payment.

But $768 is too much compared with the numbers we have seen here.
  • control323control323 Member Posts: 5
@nlclhc1 Gotcha. MSRP they gave me was $48,835. Sale price is $46,250.
  • control323control323 Member Posts: 5
    Also, residual is $28,324.30.
  • nlclhc1nlclhc1 Member Posts: 76
@control323 We need to know also de CAP adjusted value, that is all the fees included on top of the sale value.

With those prices, I get $557/mo plus tax.

Yes, we need to know the adjusted cap cost. Dealer may also be marking up the MF on you for extra profit.

Thanks guys. When you say cap cost, are you referring to "total cap" or "net cap"?

Please see attached image, it should have everything you need:

@control323 inflated MF 0.002, it should be .00079, with that I get $658 with taxes.
