Yea I figured it was way too high. What I wasn't sure of is what I could and could not negotiate. You say everything makes sense except for the MF...does that mean that everything but the MF looks fine, i.e. I won't have to really worry about negotiating those other numbers? Is MF the only thing I should push hard on?

You can try to negotiate down the selling price and push to the base MF.

Exactly - the only two variables in a lease are the selling price and the MF.

Be polite and tell the dealer you won't sign a deal with the MF marked up.

@markky1 In general it seems is not a good idea to put money down to reduce your payment since you will loose it if the car is stolen or totaled.

How much of the $3849 at signing is going to cap reduction?

As is, I get $475/mo plus tax, just taking into consideration the $4000 discount from sticker.

Not likely to get $400-450/mo without a substantial down payment - which we don't recommend. That money would be lost if the car is stolen or totaled.

Consider an A3 for that budget.

Not certain of Audi's program. The amount of each deposit is the full monthly payment, rounded up to the next $25 interval.

Not certain of Audi's program. The amount of each deposit is the full monthly payment, rounded up to the next $25 interval.

I believe Audi allows 9 MSDs, each of which reduce the MF by .00005

Hi Michael - thanks for your help on the previous Mercedes forum. I thought I'd share my recent excellent experience test driving the '17 A4 and the numbers I was quoted. The salesperson was great - no pressure, and stayed late to allow me to drive the car tonight, knowing that I would not buy until I finalized my list.
It was a fairly basic A4:
FWD S tronic
Convenience package
18” wheel package
Heated Front Seats
Parking System plus (no charge)
MSRP 40950.
DEAL: 37,140
36/12K
MF: 0.00084 Residual is 56% (seems a little low??)
the big issue is the down: $3700 to get to $434 (inc. tax) $1841 is cap reduction.
I might not be able to get to my magic number of under $400 with almost nothing down on this model - but, I truly loved the car, thats for sure.

Any thoughts?

The residual is correct. The MF is marked up from .00034.

Audi rarely has a great lease deal, and FWD models have lower residuals.

What state and tax rate is this?

We would need to know the adjusted cap cost (selling price plus all taxes and fees added in), in order to give you an estimated payment.

MF is marked up a bit - base is .00079.

I get $624/mo with the base MF, and $639/mo with the .00099 MF.

Generally, the protection packages are money makers for the dealer. I'd pass.

10k/36m - NYC taxes

Not too good with getting the base numbers from what I was given.

They do not have my car on the lot, will have to "acquire" it.

Payment: $485 per month

I'm confused by all this, but seems like it could be significantly improved upon? Slightly better discount, less out of pocket, lower monthly, etc. Can you suggest proper counter-offer?
