Magazines haven't really said anything to that effect. Maybe it's the tires?

I cant believe we are driving the same cars. I may not have had savvy car enthusiats, but everyone i've taken for rides has been very enthusiastic about the ride quality. I guess when the father-in-law (savvy car enthusiats) rides in it next week, I will have the final say as to if im all screwed up or not. Still having an absoulte blast in my 8!!! I have only had it up to 120 mph, and the engine was yawning. I would love a CLK55, what do they run though???

They fixed the problem. The car is driving fine. And you're still mad?? :confuse:

If anything ever goes wrong with the transmission, it's documented that you've had a problem with it and what the problem was. You probably would have no trouble getting them to replace the transmission for free even out of warranty. I swear! American cars will NEVER get a fair break no matter how great they are.

Anyway, since you're so displeased with it, how much do you want to sell it for? I'm assuming you're complaining about a 300C SRT8 since you posted this on the SRT8 board.

I am getting my SRT-8 in a couple of weeks and can't wait. I was wondering if anybody knew where to buy smoked tail light covers for the car. I can not find any online.

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to convert the navigation system that comes with the car to play dvd movies.

    equinnequinn Member Posts: 17
you will need to add an external dvd player and have it wired into the factory nav radio harness. the factory nav radio will not play dvds.

If anyone is looking for an SRT8 in south cali or even northern cali, there are about 6 available at about 4 dealers here in socal. There was even one with a kicker system with a bently grill and wheels already installed. They quoted me 7,500 over MSRP but I even got them down to 5K over. I was really close on pulling the trigger but I am going to wait for the AWD version sometime next year (I HOPE!). For now I just purchased myself an FX45 to hold me over till then :P . Good hunting!

I am not sure they are making SRT-8's in 2007 I talked to a few dealerships and they said that 2006 is the last year they are making the 300 SRT-8, but I could be wrong. Plus with 425 hp stock and options to give it more hp I don't think AWD is going to make much of a difference. I had two on order from two different dealerships and they both wanted at least 5,000 over msrp. I found one on ebay a couple of weeks ago brand new with option group 1&2 with dvd player in the back, and I talked them into selling it to me for msrp. I am soo excited to get my car it will be here in a week and a half.

Good find! Well if what you say is true then I guess I will be out of luck and I may have to pick up a used one if available. But I think they will be out in 2007 we will just have to wait and see. Have fun driving!

I told my dealership in Aug of 04 when I read about the engine to order my car. They made the actual order in Jan 05, telling me the car would be delivered in April, then July. Here it is end of July, no car. They told me gas guzzler tax will be $ 2500, wouldn't agree to the first price of $46k they told me. Said he wanted to wait and see what the auctions brought. The salesman has told me that mine is the only one coming to Dover, De. Many well connected customers "want" my car. Then he tells me that people are shipping them overseas for $80k. Chrysler is no help. They keep telling me the delay is the dealership. Allocating other cars before mine for a better profit? Making me wait hoping I'll bail? Is there really a long wait? Why are there ones selling on ebay? I own an 05 300 C. Am a good customer at the dealership.

Hello magnahemi....I am in the same boat as you...ordered my 300srt8 on January 5, 2005 and am still in "BX" status (ordered accepted but not yet scheduled). Very frustrating that I am now seeing Chrysler dealers that now have the car in "stock" and available for sale...I see that you are from Dover Del., a couple of weeks ago Brandywine Chrysler in Wilmington had received TWO (black) & (Silver) almost unexpected one night and BOTH were available for sale...and did sell by early morning the next day....currently Reedman-Toll in Langhorne, PA has one available and there are others within 100 miles that also have in-stock units...I would have probably bought one of these units but I chose not to because if you ordered EARLIER than February 3, 2005 you are suppose to be "price protected" (remember, we ordered the car as a 2005 model unit and were "bumped" to the 2006 model year, which had a price increase). Also, I think we are GAS GUZZLER PRICE protected also....that is it is "waived" if you ordered before the 2/3/05 date. I have confirmed this with several other people that had ordered by that date and got the waiver and price. Who knows if Chrysler will still honor this policy when are cars finally do arrive??? Also, another reason for being patient is that as you know there is a severe dusting and rotor scoring issue with the earlier cars and have been told that there probably is going to be a "line" change in which the problem is corrected at the factory and will end up as a T.S.B. (Technical Service Bulletin) warranty repair for those who request it. I still think we both are at least 3 months for getting our cars though...tempting to buy one from one of the several dealers that have them now, especially since our PA dealers are not above M.S.R.P., however we would be looking at least $2600 + more to buy now, and still have the brake issue. What do you think???

Your situation sounds exactly like mine. I ordered January 29 from a dealer in PA, still in BX status. Dealer has my $1,000 deposit. My deal is $1,000 under MSRP. I bought (7) new cars from this dealer in past 5 years so they were very nice to me regarding the price. When I ordered, they estimated delivery in April or May, then changed delivery to mid-July. No production date or VIN as of today. I will wait them out, as I refuse to pay over MSRP and refuse to cancel this order.

I made my deal, have it in writing, and will wait as long as it takes. I get the feeling that I will take delivery just in time to put it in the garage for winter. By the way, this dealer could only get (2) SRT-8's. I ordered black, another customer ordered the silver. Dealer claims they cannot order additional units.

They have tried to get another for me from local dealers who have them on the lot, but the other dealers want over invoice for the car. Additionally, I added Kicker to it when it became available, so the stock units located so far do not have Kicker.

I'm not throughly convinced of the rotor problem. I read the forum response about "seating in" the pads by a few high speed stops. Most people are very gentle on their brakes and do a lot of stop and go driving. Pads have to be made of composite materials that are not only environmentaly friendly but economical as well. And I'm certain we would all be surprised if we found out just what exactly is in them. Most people don't understand the physics behind a 3800(?) .lb machine traveling at X with a desired result of Y. 20 years ago this type of driving was still at indy, now we have the capability to do it from 0-60. As for my dealership, I have a VON and a VIN thats why I am so suspicious of their reasons and motives. I am prepared for a fight. I'm certain the gas guzzler tax is going to be a big one. I would need something in writing from Chrysler before they will budge. I'm not gonna bail just for spite. I've waited this long another month is all I will give them before I blow. They wouldn't give me a price in writing. But Lord help them if they try to pull some tricks. I'll take a bunch of big guys with me when I go to get it.

$55K for a MB cpo '03 clk55 with low miles. Performance is virtually identical to the SRT. The ride quality is far better than the SRT as well as the interior materials.

Twisterchaser this a SRT 8 Forum not ebay. A 03 clk55 doesnt even come close in hp and performance than a SRT unless its an AMG with over 450 hp. How can you beat the look and performance of the SRT for the money my friend.

in response to the problems a lot of you seem to be having getting your cars and the gas guzzler tax as well. this is what i can tell you. i work at the number one volume chrysler dealer in pa and every srt that we have delivered has had the gas guzzler tax on it and it is 3000. every srt that is on the ground throughout the country has the gas guzzler tax. i dont know how any of you are going to avoid it. as far as the wait time for the car you have to take in consideration the size of the dealer you are dealing with. the more cars they sell, specifically the more 300c's they sell the more srt8s they are going to get and the quicker they will get them. if a dealer only has an allotment for 1 or 2 srt's i dont see why they would sell it to you at sticker or under. if you want the car now youll have to pay a premium. there is not a lot of them in stock now but if anyone would like me to search chryslers dealer only site for them to find a car i will. this is not for my benefit as i do not have any on the ground at our dealership but i dont mind helping if i can. just my 2 cents

Pressure washer is fine, no problems if it is done correctly. In fact, you stand a much better chance of doing it right by yourself than taking it to a car wash. At least you know the water you are using is CLEAN. Remember a lot of those coin-up and drive through places recycle the water and that can often include sand. When that happens, it acts like a sand blaster and that is what does your car's paint in. All you need to do is keep the wand at a safe distance, use a fan tip to ensure a strong, but wide stream, and keep it a good 12"+ away from the surface. You can also keep the pressure reasonable to prevent damage.

    patpat Member Posts: 10,421
Agreed on the car wash - that's what I was talking about when I said that's scary too. And I understand what you are saying, but the fact remains that when one uses a pressure washer, one needs to be careful of the paint. That's what I said to tayl0rd in the beginning of this conversation and is what you just described. :-P

As I said, I like my garden hose and my cotton towels. :D

My wife and I bought the dashing 300c, after driving it less than 4000 miles it developed a shuttering feeling and jerking. After returning it to the dealer he informed us that water had seeped into the transmission via the A/C drainage. They drained and flushed the Transmission. We had to take back the vehicle back 2 more times for this problem before they changed the torque converter and re-sealed the transmission. We met with the District manager for Daimler Chrysler ( Bruce Shirey ) we requested that Chrysler change out our tranmission due to the water, he refused to change it out.
My wife and I would like to hear from anyone who has had or having similar issues with there Chrysler or Dodge. :lemon:

I was wondering if anyone has taken off any of their embelems. I am talking about the side door bumber guards or the srt8 embelem in the back. I was wondering if these pieces were just stuck on with double sided tape or actually drilled with holes. I think taking the embelems off gives the car a much cleaner look to it, and talking the srt8 symbol off in the back will make the car a sleeper, so no one will really know what kinda power it is capable of.
  • Options
    magnahemimagnahemi Member Posts: 24
don't worry about that emblem problem. If you park the car anywhere in the city or at a hotel, someone will do it for you. They collect the emblems as a badge of some sort. The emblems are only attached with double sided padded tape. As for the sleeper act, its funny the 300 touring folks want spoilers on their trunk to look like srt's and srt's want to be invisable. :shades:

I wonder what the owners of the Chrysler 300 C SRT 8's would suggest to be the next up-grade to the 2007’s?
What would you like to see added or deleted?

Have had my non-AWD 300C now for a year and a half. I absolutely hated the performance of the car in the rain. Being in Washington state & record rainfall this past winter I had plenty of experience in the rain. I found the car hydroplaning below posted speed limits. The plan is to change out the tires for this winter to see if that makes a difference. All other aspects of the car, I can handle.
    Just my .02

They are the same size. They have to be in order to be able to supply the demand. It is better to buy a genuine chrysler grill than an aftermarket. Not only does your car stay "oe" but the warranty is better and the metal is stainless steel. Unless of course you go " Dub " or one of the other celebrity styles. I own the Chrysler Bently style and have gotten a lot of comments. :)

I bought my wife a 300c also and have taken the car for the same reason and they have done the same thing but it continues to do the shuttering. hey folks. a positive story here. placed my first order in Feb. at Crystal River Chrysler, they were impossible to communicate with. Eventually got my deposit back and placed an order in April at Ferman Chrysler in New Port Richey, Fl. These guys were so great they called me last Friday at noon as a silver one was ordered and they buyer WALKED! I was next in line and they honored my agreement at MSRP! I was there within an hour and drove it home fast! They were going to start bidding at 5 large over MSRP (3 people already trying to buy in 24 hours!) and they could have never called me and I would have never known. Other than lousy car lot detailing the car seems perfect. Also, note that long trip in driving rain showed great bad weather handling and awesome levels of control on slippery road. I have coined the phrase "Mercedes hot rod with a Chrysler V-8" for my friends, who just don't get it! I for one am not overly impressed with the Kicker speakers, but then I only have 200 miles on the car. I hope that it holds up well as we will keep this one a while. Probably its greatest feature is its ability to tool around slowly with friends and never know it can get up and leave so quickly!

Hey browzsrt8, I bought my SRT8 almost four weeks ago. I have exactly the same problem with my driver's window "express up" function not working. I don't expect it to be a difficult fix though.

More importantly, with 300 miles on the car, I noticed all four brake rotors have developed grooves in them with the fronts being worse than the rears. Obviously this is not normal wear. My local dealer says bring it in but I'm hoping to get some information first. Has anyone taken their SRT8 in for this problem? If so, what was done about it? I don't want the rotors machined and I don't want the dealer to just replace them either. It seems to me there's a problem with the brake pads. Any comments from anyone?

Also, someone posted a message recently about his SRT8's poor ride quality. I found mine sitting on a dealer's lot and bought it with the Eagle F1 Supercar 3-season tires. I had the opportunity to drive three other SRT8s before I bought mine. All three had the all-season RSA tires. Although I only put about 20 miles on each car, I think the ride was a little better with the RSAs. I'll find out when it comes time to replace the F1s.

I know I've only complained about the car so far but don't get me wrong. This car is incredible!! Now that I'm past the 300 mile break-in period, I nailed the throttle the other day to merge into traffic from a slow roll and couldn't beleive the acceleration. I sold a '66 Corvette to buy this car. Before that, I had a big block '70 Chevelle SS454. I've driven C4 Corvettes and others. But I've never driven anything with this much right-now, in-your-face thrust. And that's not to mention all the other attributes this machine possesses.

My 05 300 C has the same problem except it is both front and rear on the drivers side. If you cycle the key three or four times it usually resets the computer. These cars are just like your home computer now. To much input and they freeze.
Try that and put some miles in between cycles before you go to the dealership.

A service tech told me how to restore the express up function:

    1. Lower/open the window using the switch in the normal fashion.
    2. Raise/close the window and keep the switch pulled up until you here a faint click.
    3. Release the switch.

    Simple. Worked for me.

I have had the same problem with my SRT8, thanks for the information. On last Saturday night I went to start my car and it would not crank. The battery cables were tight and no lights had been left on. I had to call Chrysler Assistance to get a jump and it started right up. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I called the dealership and they stated I would have to leave the vehicle and wait for them to check out the problem.

I installed a vortex valve today in my SRT 8. This device increases gas miliage and horsepower by about ten percent and took less than five minutes to install. You put it into the pipe of your air filter, which increases air flow and combustion to the engine increasing horsepower and saving fuel. www.vortexvalve.com

Not to rain on your parade, however, my bet is that you won't realize one single iota of difference in either your power or your fuel economy with that device. I'm wanting to call it "Snake Oil", unfortunately it's a piece of hardware, so maybe a better moniker would be, "Shedded Snake Skin".

Sorry dude, I'm thinking that you want to feel the difference so as to justify your investment. The fact is that the claims made by these folks defy physics, and as such, I don't believe a word of it. Having said that, if you want a few second opinions you might want to re-post your statement over here:

I only paid $65 for the vortex valve which is pocket change, so I was serious about the little bit of performance boost. I just got it soo I can't tell you about the saving of gas miliage yet.

I have the rear dvd system in my SRT 8 that came with the car. I was wondering if there was anyway I could get the dvd to play on my navigation screen in front. Is there a way to rewire the ground or is it not possible to play it at all in front. I have had all different opinions on this.
