Hi All...thanks so much for this great forum. Leasing confuses me and stresses me out...I'd always bought until my last car. So here's the offer I was given from a dealer in Los Angeles, seems okay (10% off MSRP) compared to what I've seen but maybe I don't have enough info from the dealer? Should I be pressing for a better deal, and if so, where?

In Texas, you pay sales tax on the full selling price of the vehicle. (guessing that might be included in the $3800 of fees?)

I get the same payment, to the penny.

If your tax rate is 8.75%, then I get the same number they do.

$1500 OOP and the higher payment is just a math swap (and, what I would do).

The only thing left to evaluate is the sale price. If you are happy with it, the rest of the deal is good.

Confirm the adjusted cap cost with the dealer - if higher than the selling price, find out what's been added.

+ $595 acq fee
+ $799 service fee
- $815 cap cost reduction
$41,264 Adj Cap Cost

Will discuss the service fee with them but suspect that they may want to increase the sale price. Still a good deal though?

I got an offer MDX FWD with Tech 36m/10k - $43299(after lease cash) for $551.50 monthly payment, zero drive off.

Knowledge is power ... the dealer would rather keep you in the dark about a lot of this stuff and simply put a monthly payment in front of you.

If I live in NY is it common to contact dealers in CT/NJ or even further south? I've heard stories of some people contacting dealers in other states sand having cars sent on a flatbed . What about DMV? Can they do DMV processing on their end or is it too much of a headache to buy out of state to save some money.

I wouldn't bother buying a new, readily available vehicle from a dealer that's too far away to drive to, and complete the deal. That always gives you the option to walk away, if you don't get what's promised.
