Ok just to update you about my final lease that I signed last week, it's a 2017 base model:
CAP cost $27,653, 36mo/10500mi, at 2.5% APR (not sure why this is not 1.25%).
I'm putting down $3500 and will be paying $325/mo. I'm from Atlanta, GA.

    Congrats on the new Explorer!
Michaell any idea why it is 2.5% APR instead of 1.25%? But the monthly calculation seem correct with 1.25%.
    What was the MSRP?

Does the lease contract show 2.5% APR?
The MSRP is $32300, gross cap cost is 30459 and adjusted cap cost is 17765. I just went through the contracts and cannot find any APR rate, somehow I saw this 2.5% when I'm signing. Maybe it's not relevant?
If you're comfortable with the selling price and payment, probably nothing to worry about.
ok, but based on your calculation can you figure out what ARP they are actually using?
I can't reverse engineer the APR from the other numbers.

    Hi All!

I'm pricing out 2016/2017 SUV's and looking to see how I can get the best deal. Right now, I'm focusing on the Ford Explorer since I like the styling and might be able to get the options I want for a decent price. I'm looking for MF and Residuals in NYC for:

    2017 Ford Explorer Limited w/ 301A Equipment Group & Twin Panel Sunroof - 36/39months / 10k/12k
    2017 Ford Explorer Sport w/ 401A Equipment Group & Twin Panel Sunroof - 36/39months / 10k/12k
    2016 Ford Explorer Limited w/ 301A Equipment Group & Twin Panel Sunroof - 36/39months / 10k/12k
    2016 Ford Explorer Sport w/ 401A Equipment Group & Twin Panel Sunroof - 36/39months / 10k/12k

(Don't really care about the sunroof, but many of the cars I've seen already have it)

    1) Is there any cost benefit to buying a 2016 vs 2017 right now?
    2) How do add-ons factor in to the residual? Is it the total post-addon MSRP x residual % or pre-addon MSRP x residual?
    3) When I go in to the dealer, should I expect to get the MF and Residual % you guys provide or is this where they try to get you? Is the figure you provide for "well qualified" lessees.
    4) I qualify for Ford X-plan, how does that factor in to the equation?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm a finance guy, but totally new to leasing, so please bear with me

    Thanks!

    1. Better deals on the 2016s
    2. Residual is applied to the bottom line number of the window sticker (base MSRP + options + destination)
    3. Dealer can mark up the money factor; residual is fixed by the bank. The numbers we quote are for top tier credit
    4. X-plan helps set a price to use in the lease calculation

I'll assume that you are looking at AWD.

    2017 Limited
    36/12 - 53% and 1.25%
    39/12 - 51% and 1.50%

    2017 Sport
    36/12 - 56% and 1.25%
    39/12 - 54% and 1.50%

Add 1% to the residual for 10K. $250 lease cash.

Hi - what are numbers looking like for Platinum 36/39 10.5k/12k in Hawaii?

    36/12: 1.25% APR and 53% residual
    39/12: 1.50% APR and 51% residual
Add 1% to residual for 10.5K/yr

Those numbers are for SoCal, which is the closest I have.

Looking for MF/Resid % in Livermore, CA on 36/15k lease of 2017 Explorer XLT w/ Sport Appearance Package. I also get Z-Plan. Approximate price reduction on that model would be helpful too. FWD probably if i can find one.

  • I did this deal on a 2017 Explorer Sport in NJ
still think I left some money there. Wanted to grind more but just got tired.
    What do you think?

    MSRP 51,405
Sale price 46,555 Incentive $1750 included
36 months 12,000 per year lease

    Residual 55% X 51,405 = 28272.75

    46,555 - 28272.75 = 18282.25 divided X 36 507.84

    Interest @ .25% 46555+ 28272.75 = 748827.75 X .0000104 = 7.78

    507.84 + 7.78 = 515.62 sales tax 7% 36.09 Total 551.71

    Total no money down $551.71

I did this deal on a 2017 Explorer Sport in NJ
still think I left some money there. Wanted to grind more but just got tired.
    What do you think?

    MSRP 51,405
Sale price 46,555 Incentive $1750 included
36 months 12,000 per year lease

    Residual 55% X 51,405 = 28272.75

    46,555 - 28272.75 = 18282.25 divided X 36 507.84

    Interest @ .25% 46555+ 28272.75 = 748827.75 X .0000104 = 7.78

    507.84 + 7.78 = 515.62 sales tax 7% 36.09 Total 551.71

    Total no money down $551.71

Larryb64, looks like a great deal! Which dealer in NJ? Thx!
  • Can I please have the residual and MF for the '17 Explorer XLT 4x2 in south Florida. Also, are there any incentives this month?
