The dealer provided the quote for purchase and included the full state tax, which was an error. I'm in Minnesota so I should only be paying tax on the total of the lease payments. THe adjusted cap cost is 44009 and with a residual of 25340, I believe the dealer's number are correct for 35 payments.

Yeah, dealers are fond of doing that. It confuses the numbers to the point where the consumer doesn't know which way is up, therefore giving the dealer an advantage.

Thanks Michael. He was actually quoted me a higher residual than 54%. He states the residual was actually $500 dollars less. In addition to that, they told me that I have to pay tax on the Ford incentive cash.

I get $584/mo with those numbers - pretty close to your quote, so I assume that the negative equity is already factored into the deal.

What is the breakdown of the $2750 due at signing?

You should be negotiating a lower selling price over and above the incentives - use the "make / model / year" pull downs at the top of the screen to link to the price tools.

Using the MSRP and selling price provided, I get a payment of $415/mo before tax.

A few observations:

1. Don't use trade equity as down payment - only up front costs should be the first payment and DMV costs. Have the dealer cut you a check for the remaining equity.
2. I would confirm with the dealer that the $38,000 price is valid for a lease; often, there are incentives that only work if you are buying.
