Hi...in NY and getting a lease on an Explorer XLT with MSRP of $47,100 less the Equip discount of $800. Terms are 36month 10.5miles and only putting down first month and DMV fees...no other money down, taxes are rolled in. Dealer is saying the monthly payment is $482...while this is great, it sounds to good to be true when others are between 507-529. please advise.

Without the selling price and adjusted CAP cost, we'd just be guessing.

So, you are shopping for the best price, and when you get it, you worry about it?

Any reason I can use this number as our agreed on sales price, take the residual of a 36/12 lease on a Sport to determine the amount financed? What is the residual for this model and MF for someone with a 720 Equifax score?

53% residual.

Seems likely that the price includes rebates that won't be applicable to a lease.

First, why would you need different annual mileage allowances, depending on the length of term?

Just thinking the MF or RV would be different for the lower mileage.  Were those numbers for the Ltd or Platinum (or both)?

MF is dependent on the lease term; RV will vary based on the number of miles you need.

Get the number of miles you think you'll drive, regardless of lease length.

For 36/12, you'll get 36,000 total miles; for 39/10.5, you'll get just over 34,000 miles.

Which is closer to what you'll think you'll drive?

Ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost, then I can calculate a payment.

And, if you are in Chicago proper, the lease taxes will kill you - between the state and the city, it's something like 17% total.

MF is marked up from the base rate of .50%.

Using the numbers on your worksheet, I am only a few dollars off of their quoted payment (rounding?).

MF mark up is adding about $35/mo to the payment.
