Another quick one. Is the option allowance subtracted from the negotiated price? Lets say the MSRP is 43K and I negotiate down to 40. Does the option allowance then drop it to 39k?

It's a customer incentive. Assume that any negotiated price already includes it. You won't be able to "spring" it on them, once you've negotiated a price.

OK i'll keep that in mind and build it into any discount number i ask for. I've read that 6 to 7% off MSRP is a good price. That still hold true mostly?

I'd shoot for 7% off, minus the $1000.

Doesn't mean you'll get it, but that's the goal. Let them throw out the first number. It might surprise you.

Hello! I've read through the feed and haven't seen any info for a lease in PA. Could you provide MF/Res (36/10, 36/12) for December?

Also, I still am a bit new to deciphering what is the best route for this lease (what to roll in/pay upfront), given my situation. Here's what I got so far:

    MSRP - 43,045
    - 1,000 (My non-BMW employer discount)
    - 1,000 (BMW incentive)
    - 500 (markdown)
    Sale Price - 40,545

Assuming 2,500 customer cash, it is being applied as so:
    Advanced payment - 522.63 (Their figure - 479.48 base, 43.15 tax))
Upfront charges - 1286.02 (I forget what I answered about wanting to pay "upfront" - doc/acq. fee possibly)
    Total cap reduction - 691.35

I would prefer to only put out 2,000 max, but cannot seem to move on w/o getting your opinion of the current situation.

    Thank you in advance!

Is the quote for 36/10 or 36/12?

For 36/10, with an adjusted CAP cost of $39,854, the payment should be $466/mo.+tax. The difference might be in tax on some of those upfront incentives.
$1286 seems about right for $925 acq.fee + DMV fees.
$500 less upfront will add about $16/mo. to the post-tax payment.

Not sure how your $1000 employer incentive works. If that's an actual rebate that the dealer is reimbursed for, then a $500 discount is pitiful. If that's just a dealer program, even $1500 off MSRP is not great.

Shoot for 5-7% off MSRP, before deducting incentives. Make sure you are getting the base .00134 MF.

This was for the 36/10, our preferred lease. The employer discount is essentially via the BMW fleet program, which is what website we are directed to. Not sure if that helps you figure things out. To make things more confusing, at our last meeting, I said I wanted the monthly payment to have a "4" in front and they said they will make that happen (if I'd keep it at $2500 customer cash).

If that $1000 is part of the fleet program, then they probably have another $2000-$2500 to play with.
They should be able to get under $500/mo.with tax, and still only need $2000 upfront.

Very close to buying or leasing. Would appreciate feedback on this offer.

    - 2017 x1 - 49.9k MSRP
    - 36 month, 12k miles per year
    - Paying for all 7 MSDs
    - Drive off at $4800
    - I was told a MF of .00134 was used and a 60% RV
    - 453/mo

I get $468/mo before tax with those prices. What is the adjusted cap cost the dealer is using?

Beyond MSD, what is the breakdown of the up front cash?

    Thank you, Michael.

I have to obtain the breakdown of the cash due on lease, but I believe the MSD is $4,200, which is 7 payments, bringing the inflated mf of 0.00159 down to 0.0011. I'm going to try to negotiate the mf down to base.

im also not sure what the adjusted cap cost is and will ask.

Thanks fir for your help, Michael! Happy holidays.

Dear All. Trying to sign the dotted line this Saturday for Custom Order of a 2017 X1 $45.500 MSRP incl $995 dest/handling fee.

The New Jersey Dealer offered $489 monthly payment ($3500 upfront for taxes, fees, first payment) on a 36month/10k mile lease. After quizzing him on the lease he provided details as follows:

    Cap Cost is $42,185
    Residual value is $27,965.45 = 61.13%

I came up with a money factor of 0.00134 or 3.21%.

I have an excellent credit score. Where to you see the most room for negotiation?

I got other dealer offering 499/517 - so at least the one above is a little less.

    Thank you for your input!

.00134 and 61% are the correct numbers, this month.

With your prices, I get $495/mo - pretty close, but my guess is that some of the $3500 is going to cap reduction to make the out of pocket a nice round number.

Politely tell the dealer you won't sign a deal without getting the base MF - that will save you about $18/mo

Ok, Thanks. So as far as you know, the $1000 option allowance that has been ongoing for at least several months is no longer available? And did that option allowance only apply to leased vehicles?

    I'm in Franklin County Ohio
Looking to lease BMW X1. Here is what I have received from dealership:

    MSRP = 44,340
    Sale price = 42,240
    Adjust Cap = 44,929.14
Out of pocket would be first month payment and 121 for new plates

    36/10 = 592
    36/12 = 604

    Feedback???

    .00134 MF and 61%/60% residual.

I get the same calculated payment, which at least means they aren't marking up the money factor.

Did they break down the $2700 added to the CAP?
Is there more due at signing, other than the first payment?

That price is about $1000 over invoice.. You could try to cut that back some.

Here is a breakdown for 36/12: 925 bank fees, 250 doc fee and 1514.14 for sales taxes. Also, only money out of pocket is the first month payment and license of 121, which would be reduced if I use my current plates from my X3.

    Thanks.

    Okay.. that all looks good.

The only place to work on it is the selling price, or use multiple security deposits to lower the money factor.

    .00134 MF and 61%/60% residual.
    I agree with the calculations.
That price is about $1000 over invoice. You might have a little room, there.

I would recommend the MSD program to reduce the money factor.

The X3 has a higher residual (by 3%). You might be able to lease one for about the same price, even with the higher MSRP of the X3.

For the MSD program, for each deposit, how much is the money factor lowered? And, what does that do to the the payment? Using the above quote, what would the savings be for 1 MSD? 2 MSD's?

    Thank you.

Each MSD lowers the MF by .00007. Max 7 MSD allowed, which will lower the payment $30-40 per month.

This is the quote I got after about 4 days of negotiations. Includes early return of current BMW lease $1210 owed. The 2500 down is drive off cost and includes dealer fees and tax etc. But I can't get a breakdown of what exactly makes up the $2500. Definitely at least $1200 of it is money to get the payment to match another quote from different dealer. Shouldn't the payment be around $460?

My other quote is for same car but with premium package, Harmon Kardon upgrade, 19inch alloys. MSRP 42500. sale price 40500, due at signing $2675 and $557/m which includes tax, tire insurance, wear and tear insurance. I dont have any other numbers but this would be the 3rd lease from them and the finance manager is our good friend and each time we could just sit and run the numbers in her office but she just went to work for Mercedes and we are completely in the dark. Bad timing. We live in Miami and this is for 36/12 lease. Any help on both quotes would be extremely helpful.

    .00134 and 60%

$468/mo with your numbers. I'd be polite and ask for the breakdown of that $2500. First payment and acquisition fee, at least.
