Hi. I am looking at a 2017 X1 xDrive28i in Colorado. MSRP is $43,010. Wholesale is $40,655. They are offering it to me at $39,350. I am sure they are hiding some incentives still in that. On a 36 month, 15k mi per year lease, they are giving me a money factor of .00180 (roughly 4.25%), what should it be? The residual is 58%. Where should those numbers be? Are there any additional incentives that I should know about? When do the 2018s being to show up? Thanks!

.00151 MF and 58% residual
There is a $1000 lease credit on this vehicle, but it will be disclosed on the lease contract.
Received this offer on a demo model 2017 bmw x1 xdrive28i in the bay area. 4,530 miles
Is this a good deal? Cap cost reduction/cost looks off
Thanks!
The CAP cost reduction is what's left of the $1000 rebate, after paying the first payment and the other charges in the right hand column. ZERO due at signing.
It looks to me like the residual should be 58.35%, not 57.35%. 61% residual minus $1132 should be 1% higher.
That's about a $12/mo. difference. Normally, those kind of mistakes can't happen, but when you have to manually adjust the residuals for miles, human error might be involved.
Looking for San Diego, CA info for an X1 xDrive, either 24/10 or 36/10, top tier credit. Waiting on dealer quotes for adjusted price so will need to come back for help modeling payments.

Hey Everyone! My wife and I (mostly my wife) just picked up a new 2017 X1. Even though the deed is done, I wanted to run the numbers and see if I got a good deal. I think it was pretty decent. I should note that we were turning in our 2015 X1 6 months early on an original 39-month lease.
This is a little complicated, so let me give all the base details of our lease first: MSRP: $43740 (x-Drive, Paint, Cold Weather, Drv Assist, Premium, Nav and extra crap) Terms: 36/12k Due at Signing: $3579 ($2100 + First Payment @ $479 + $1000 Rebate) Monthly Payment: $479 (447.66 + 31.34 tax @ 7%) Rebate: $1000 BMW (+ $500 USAA) Gross Cap: $39438.78* Cap Cost Reduction: $221.22 Adj Cap Cost: $39217.56 Residual: $26684 Depreciation: $12533.56 Rent Charge: $3582.20
So here's the story... As I mentioned, we still had 6 months left on our lease, which was originally a 39/15k @ $427/month (inc tax). So we had $1280 in payments left ($427x3) in addition to the 3 months BMW would waive. We weren't adamant about switching out early, but the numbers seemed to work out. They ended up covering the different within this lease, but backed out the price of the new car a pretty substantial amount (IMHO) to compensate, thus negating it for the most part. Sure, I guess we could probably have gotten an extra $1280 off if we waited, but oh well. In other words, the agreed upon price we had was $38158.78, plus $1280 brought the total gross cap cost up to $39438.78. That was still 6.4% off MSRP before the $1500 in rebates we qualified for, and from what I read 7% is ideal, so I figured it wasn't bad overall. Hopefully I was right .
For the due at signing, in addition to the first payment of $479 and the rebate of $1000, we put down $2100 to cover the misc fees and taxes. That broke down to: $316.35 Initial License Fee (Seems a bit high...) $182.95 Sales/Use Tax $925 Acquisition Fee (my understanding is that this is not negotiable) $15.48 Sales Tax on CCR $999 Doc Fee (Florida sucks... Most dealers here charge $600-1000). $444 Warranty $221.22 Cap Cost Reduction (I assume this is just surplus in what we put down).
A note on the warranty. This was actually 'free'. We had already agreed on the finance terms, and during the finance meeting we didn't want any of the addons. They ended up throwing in the key warranty, extended maintenance plan (covering brakes/etc.) plus some stupid windshield thing for no added cost OOP, but took the $444 out of the sale price to compensate as a wash if that makes sense. For our purposes, we just consider this part of the car.
One thing I think we did especially good on is in regards to the old car. While it was severely under miles (only 33k out of an allotted 49k at turn-in in 6 months), we also were in need of new tires as they were the original run flats. Plus one had a puncture a year ago that we got repaired. They only gave the car a very cursory inspection and didn't ding us for anything. My understanding is the tires would be $800+ to replace, so I consider that a savings in this deal. The rest of the car was still in good shape and shouldn't have resulted in any penalties. However, we also just paid $427 a couple days ago for this month's lease payment, so that is a bit of a wash I guess.
I ran the numbers in my lease calculator (that I made when I got our last BMW) and with the .00151MR, I came up with exactly $479.08 as the monthly payment with tax, so it looks like they didn't try to jack it up (like last time).
So how do you think we did? Or should I not even ask and just assume I did awesome and enjoy the car?

This thread was amazing in providing all the info I needed to sign on my first BMW lease here in the bay area. Thank you to everyone! My deal is posted below and the only thing I was unsure of was the additional .0002 MF rate reduction that I thought came with the fleet discount? They told me they could only do the base MF of .00151. Would love to hear any insight you guys have so I can make any adjustments on future deals.

We do not recommend using trade equity or up front cash to lower the lease payment - if the car is stolen or totaled, that money is lost. Only up front cash should be for the first payment and DMV costs.
We need to know the exact MSRP (bottom line number on the window sticker) and the negotiated selling price.
Thank you! Can you tell me what the MF is or if they are playing with any of the numbers? This is my deal:
2017 BMW X1 XDrive 28i AWD MSRP: 41,425 $3000 due at lease signing ($1696 Cap cost reduction, $379 first payment, $935 acquisition fee) Pricing does NOT include: tax, tags, dealer processing fee ($699) and freight ($995). This is in VA. 5.3% tax. Pricing DOES include: $1000 incentive with BMW FS.
I can't figure out what MF they are using and I'm assuming they arent messing with the residual. I also want to not do the $1696 cap cost reduction, how does that affect my payment? After adding in all fees, how much would my monthly be?

We would need to know the adjusted cap cost in order to run the numbers.
.00151 MF, this month
What lease term and how many miles per year are you looking for?
Simply tell them to quote you a deal with the first payment and tags up front - all other taxes and fees should be rolled into the payment.
Would love some feedback on this deal - (36 months/10k annual) X1 Xdrive - MSRP 45660 (nav, premium, driver assistance, driver assistance plus, cold weather) sales price - 41720 sales tax - 3764 (in ca) tag/registration - 352 weight fee - 24 elec filing - 29 smog abatement fee - 20 doc fee - 80 county fee - 22 total - 46011 residual value - 61% on msrp money factor - .0019
Monthly payment - 573 with 2000 down including fees and first month. Thoughts on this deal? thanks!
MF is marked up the max - base is .00151
Tax in CA is assessed on the monthly payment. Ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost - this will help us figure the payment.
I'm guessing this is an AutoNation dealer - they are famous for giving you all the numbers for a purchase, then showing you a lease payment that doesn't connect to those prices at all.
Michaell, you are a jedimaster. Yes, it is indeed an Autonation dealer. The adjusted cap cost is 41832 with 2000 down. Thoughts and feedback helpful. I redid the math and came up with a monthly payment of 538 including tax. (based on mf of .00151)

If the tax rate is 9%, then I get $538/mo as well.
Since AutoNation has like a bajillion dealers in the US, and they all quote leases the same way, it's not hard to guess when a post like yours comes in.
One suggestion - skip the $2K down and limit your out of pocket to just the first payment and DMV costs. Payment will go up, but you won't risk losing that up front cash if the car is stolen or totaled.
Hi. I sent an inquiry into a BMW dealer site and received a reply from Autonation e-mail address. Is it they handle the dealer's preowned car business? What are the negatives or positives in dealing with them vs. the dealer directly?
I'm looking at leasing a 2017 x1 loaner car. I'm comfortable with a 2 or 3 year lease, whatever results in the lowest monthly payment. Can you provide the residual for a 12k and 15k lease? What incentives are applicable in FL? Is the mf .00151 the same regardless of whether it is a loaner, different lease lengths, or different mileages? How is the residual recalculated for mileage on the car at the time of sale? Thanks for all of your help.

Autonation owns the most new car dealers in the country - they are the dealer.

.00151 and 64% / 58%
$1000 lease credit.
.00151 is the base MF for new and loaner, and for all lease terms. This is the MF for top tier credit.
How many miles are on the car? Residual adjustments varies based on that.
"6900 miles means that the residual will decrease by 4%, and .25/mile will be deducted from the residual as well."
I'm not sure that I follow you. So the residual gets hit by a hefty 4%. That's what I'll be using to calculate the lease with. Where is the additional .25/ mile come into play?
I've come across a few vehicles that had ~4700 miles. They weren't equipped quite like I'd like and that dealer wasn't as eager to make a deal. But maybe the mileage difference is enough to warrant further negotiation with them. How much of a difference are were talking?

The 6900 vehicle is msrp $46620, sell $35600
BMW has made it more expensive to lease a demo
up to 5000 miles, only the .25/mile charge is applied 5000-7499 miles, 4% deduction plus .25/mile 7500-10,000 miles, 6% deduction plus .25/mile
On your sample unit, 4% is close to $1900 extra depreciation, or $50+ per month.
I'm not sure what happened to the rest of my post.
Is my math correct that given the sample vehicle, the payment would be $403 plus tax? That's not accounting for a disposition/ acquisition fee, tag fees, or dealer.
That's a 54% residual with a $1725 penalty for miles and a $1000 rebate.

What is the residual for 12k on a 2 or 3 year
By the way. These are all x drive if it matters
All X1's share the same numbers.
Add 2% to the residual for 12K instead of 15K
Yes, that is a steep penalty to lease a demo; you'd better be getting a huge discount from sticker to compensate.
Any thoughts on this lease quote? BMW X1 2017 front wheel drive. I think they are giving me a good deal on the discount, might have to work in the trade.

We don't have any way of knowing if that's a good deal on your trade. I'll note that the $699 doc fee is egregious. No mention of the $925 acquisition fee.
No disclosure of the money factor, residual or adjusted CAP cost on that "lease quote".

This is a little complicated, so let me give all the base details of our lease first:
MSRP: $43740 (x-Drive, Paint, Cold Weather, Drv Assist, Premium, Nav and extra crap)
Terms: 36/12k
Due at Signing: $3579 ($2100 + First Payment @ $479 + $1000 Rebate)
Monthly Payment: $479 (447.66 + 31.34 tax @ 7%)
Rebate: $1000 BMW (+ $500 USAA)
Gross Cap: $39438.78*
Cap Cost Reduction: $221.22
Adj Cap Cost: $39217.56
Residual: $26684

$999 Doc Fee (Florida sucks... Most dealers here charge $600-1000).

2017 BMW X1 XDrive 28i AWD
MSRP: 41,425
$3000 due at lease signing ($1696 Cap cost reduction, $379 first payment, $935 acquisition fee)
Pricing does NOT include: tax, tags, dealer processing fee ($699) and freight ($995).
Thank you!!
.00151 MF, this month
What lease term and how many miles per year are you looking for?
Simply tell them to quote you a deal with the first payment and tags up front - all other taxes and fees should be rolled into the payment.
$1700 up front is about $47/mo over 36 months

thanks!

$1000 lease credit.
.00151 is the base MF for new and loaner, and for all lease terms. This is the MF for top tier credit.
How many miles are on the car? Residual adjustments varies based on that.

6900 miles means that the residual will decrease by 4%, and .25/mile will be deducted from the residual as well.

The 6900 vehicle is msrp $46620, sell $35600
up to 5000 miles, only the .25/mile charge is applied
5000-7499 miles, 4% deduction plus .25/mile
7500-10,000 miles, 6% deduction plus .25/mile
On your sample unit, 4% is close to $1900 extra depreciation, or $50+ per month.

That's a steep penalty.

Add 2% to the residual for 12K instead of 15K
Yes, that is a steep penalty to lease a demo; you'd better be getting a huge discount from sticker to compensate.
Else, why go for the demo?

I think they are giving me a good deal on the discount, might have to work in the trade.
I'll note that the $699 doc fee is egregious.
No mention of the $925 acquisition fee.
No disclosure of the money factor, residual or adjusted CAP cost on that "lease quote".
