My lease ends in 2 months but visited the dealership for a "pre lease end inspection" in which they indicated they have pull ahead programs since I have 2 payments (of $344 each) left on my 2015 X1 lease.

2017 X1 xdrive, 4000k miles on the "Demo Car"
    12k month lease
    Jet Black
    Cold weather package
    Driver Assistance package

I come up with an MSRP of $38,445 on Edmunds for the car so I would have to try to identify the $700 delta in the MSRP they list below.

    MSRP$39145
    Selling price $34500
    Money factor .00152
60 residual, 12,000 miles per year

After tax monthly payment w/ cash down to cover first payment, fees, and provide some some cost reduction:
    $1500 down = $406
    $1000 down =$423

    Seem like a good deal?

The calculated residual has to be adjusted down by $1000 to account for the mileage. You'll then want to negotiate a better selling price than you would on a new unit to compensate.

Then, you'll likely have a decent deal.

There might also be a rebate of some kind.
Demo/service loaners can make for a really good deal. But, bargain hard.

    What is the MSRP?
What is the adjusted cap cost?
    What state?

We'd suggest you restructure the up front cash to only be the MSD monies, the first payment and the DMV or registration costs.

Thank you. Is it normal for BMW to have a $925 bank fee?

MSRP is $42,195 and registered in PA

    X1 28i AWD for 36 months, 12k
    MSRP $45,145
    $1000 lease rebate
    $2000 down
    $41,004 Adjusted Cap cost
    $925 acquisition
    $598 doc
    $104 registration fee
    monthly payment $504
    tax 3%
    MF .00152
    Res 60%
What am I missing? I thought the Cap cost would be lower but I guess they roll first payment into there and you only then pay 35 payments. Thanks for your help.

I'm within $1 of that payment quote.

How much is due from you at signing - the $2000? If so, then the first payment and other up front costs are probably coming out of that.

Ask them to restructure the deal with only the first payment and registration fee due at signing - add the acquisition and doc fees to the cap cost.

Pulled the trigger on an X1 in NY.

    2017 X1 xDri28i / 10k miles / 36 months
MSRP $44.5k (inc lthr int/cold whether pkg, Driver assist pkg, luxary pkg, premium pkg and navigation)
Service car w 3.8k miles already on car
    61% residual, 0.00152 money factor
    cap cost $37.6k (15.5% discount)
less rebate of $1k + acq fee $925 + sales tax (8.875%) (all rolled in)
Monthly payment of $448 (can't quite exactly calculate the monthly amount because I don't think I am calculating the sales tax using the proper numbers - maybe i'm not properly accounting for the acq fee and rebate)
Upfront costs of $742 (includes first month, MV, doc fee, fuel and a few taxes.

Seems pretty decent. Probably should've pulled the trigger when I had the chance on an x3 for not too much more (though w fewer features), but the deal got sold.

    You did really well. Congrats!
I tried to talk my wife into an X1, but she was stuck on the X3, since she'd already had two of them. We bought a service loaner, last month.

I'm trying to figure out if this is a decent deal. It being the end of the month, I thought I would be able to push to get a 2017 unit at a good price.

    2017 X1 sDrive28i Premium/Cold Weather/Tech packages

    MSRP: $41,795
    Autonation savings: $4,404
    Customer rebate: $1000
    Price: $36,391 (12.9% discount)

    Tax: $3,130.05
    Title fee: $29.25
    Doc fee: $549
    Balance Due: $40,099.30

    36/10k lease
    MF: 0.00152
    Residual: 61%

    Cash due at signing: $4,000
    Monthly payment: $393

I confirm the MF and residual.

    What state is this?

I don't see mention of the $925 acquisition fee; could that be a purchase quote?

And, we don't recommend that much money up front on a lease.

The state is Nevada. The salesman said the acquisition fee is included in cap cost of $36,391 and that the 4k down and 393/month is "out the door"
How much money down would you recommend? Is $5,404 off MSRP decent now at end of October for a 2017 model?

Only first payment and registration costs should be paid at signing - add all other taxes and fees into the cap cost.

I believe NV taxes the monthly payment, so ignore the tax amount.

Yes, that is a nice discount on an outgoing 2017.

I'm really struggling to find a good deal on a 2017 X1 in Northern California. My local dealer is marking up the MF to 0.0018 which I haven't called them out on yet, and they are claiming that BMW Financial will no longer accept MSDs to buy down the MF. Is this true?

It's true. MSDs are gone, unless you are turning in a current lease with MSDs.

I did put down max MSDs on my current lease, which ends in February, so I've got $2,100 already there --how can I play with that? Does it help my chances of getting a lower-than-national MF?

They're offering me up to 3 months lease payment forgiveness if I upgrade early, which is why I'm even looking now. Had a preinspection today just to be sure I wouldn't have any surprises/see if there were things I needed to negotiate around and they found no problems so I'll just be obligated for the disposition fee, if I don't stick with the brand. I'm not afraid to walk away from what they offer me. Since I can, I may just wait and see what prices do in December.

Sorry to be slow --so I should be able to use my existing 7 MSDs to reduce the current national MF of 0.00152 to 0.00117?

There's a loaner at another dealer nearby with more than 15% off MSRP --4,500 miles on it. I assume RV should go down to 59% because of mileage? If I can get that lower MF, I might pursue that one.

Yes, .00117 is the new minimum MF, with MSDs.

If under 5K miles, residual is reduced by .25 per mile.

I'm getting the following offer, but when I plug the numbers in myself I'm finding some discrepancies. Would love some feedback:

    2017 X1 xDrive28i / 10k miles / 36 months
MSRP $46,545 (Premium Pkg, Tech Pkg, Lux Pkg, Driving Assist, Cold Weather)
Retired service car with 2500 miles
    Selling Price $40,375
    61% residual, 0.00152 money factor
cap cost $39,417 which includes $2k factory rebate and acquisition fee
Monthly Pmt $462 which includes CA taxes (With Los Angeles tax being at 9.5%, I'm calculating my payments to be at $444 all in)
Upfront costs of $662 (includes first month and DMV transfer fee since it was a service vehicle) They would also apply $2k factory rebate to the drive off..not sure if that's the best use of that would love some insight.

    Thanks

The 2500 miles will reduce the residual by $625. That will add about $19/mo. to your post-tax payment.

The new MSD plan is 7 MSDs X .00005 each, for a total reduction of .00035
Sorry to be slow --so I should be able to use my existing 7 MSDs to reduce the current national MF of 0.00152 to 0.00117?

There's a loaner at another dealer nearby with more than 15% off MSRP --4,500 miles on it. I assume RV should go down to 59% because of mileage? If I can get that lower MF, I might pursue that one.
Yes, .00117 is the new minimum MF, with MSDs.

If under 5K miles, residual is reduced by .25 per mile.
    Thanks so much for clarifying.

So here's the deal I'm working on if you wouldn't mind checking my math:

MSRP $39,895 (xDrive with cold weather and premium package)
    purchase price $33,600
    $925 acquisition
$355.40 taxes, license (quoted by dealer)
$80 doc fee (quoted by dealer)
    plus first month's payment
-$2000 rebate towards fees/taxes/first month so $0 paid upfront
remainder reduces net cap cost to around $33,360
    36 months/12k per year
0.00152 MF bought down with existing $2,100 in MSDs to 0.00117
4,577 miles on the car = 60% residual reduced to 57.117%
Base payment of about $359 + local tax

This looks pretty good to me, anything I am missing/not considering?

    Thanks!

SO now they're saying I CAN'T use my existing MSDs to buy down the money factor at all and that I'll just be refunded once this lease starts. BMW financial is closed until Monday so I can't ask them directly. Do you have any resources I can look at or point them to that show I can use my existing deposits?

I know you’re not fortune tellers but do you think it would be smarter to wait until the end of December before I finalize a deal? My current lease isn't up until end of February, but I'd like to take advantage of year-end incentives to move 2017 stock and the lease payment forgiveness if it means getting a better deal. On the other hand, this car is here and now and has everything I want at a seemingly great price, so I wonder how much "better" December deals would be, assuming the car I want is even available then. Your wisdom is appreciated!

We don't have any specific documentation that states MSDs can be rolled over, just comments from other posters.

Check with other BMW dealers; you might get a different story from them.

And, you're right - we aren't fortune tellers. That said, I can't imagine the deal getting any better a month from now.

Hey, I finalized my lease today and wanted to share what I ended up with:

I leased a service loaner Mineral Grey xDrive with Nav and Cold Weather Packages. MSRP was $40,040 and the odometer was 4,202.
I received $2,000 in rebates which paid all fees I would have otherwise paid up front, the first month's payment, and further reduced the agreed purchase price of $32,904 (17.82% off MSRP) by $432.94, effectively making it 18.9% off MSRP.
0.00152 money factor (I had max MSDs down on my prior lease but not a single dealer in a 150 mile radius would agree that I could roll it over to buy down the MF on this lease, and BMW Financial also didn't know what I was talking about when I called about it, so I'll be getting a check for that deposit back, less a $100 ding on my 2015 X1's fender)
57.66% residual (it really should have been slightly lower given the mileage, but I was happy to take the higher residual)
    36 months, 12k per year
    $345.13 per month before tax

Feels like a pretty great deal, not a dollar exchanged. I do sorely wish they'd offer lower interest rates or bring back the MSD program. Also was disappointed to learn, when I signed the paperwork, that the maintenance included has been modified to no longer include brakes, wiper blades, or engine belts, and reduced from 4 years/50,00 miles to 3 years/36,000 miles and the clock on that started when the car was placed into service in June, which means I am potentially facing 4 months without maintenance coverage at the end of the lease. Even so, the warranty covers the entire lease and it is better maintenance coverage than with other brands and I feel like, even with some additional maintenance costs, the expenses will be offset by the considerable savings I received with this deal. I'll be curious to see what they're still offering by the time its time for me to lease again and if I'll decide to stay with the brand then.

I tried out the parking assistant tonight, utterly delighting my 8-year-old so... worth every penny.

Thank you to the moderators who answered all my questions, I am grateful to you!

    That's a very solid deal.

BMW has made leasing less customer friendly in the past year or two, for all the reasons you mention.

I've looked at BMW's in the past, but just haven't been able to muster up enough courage (or budget) to pull the trigger. I might be tempted by a nice CPO unit in a couple of years when I am back in the market, but there are so many good (read: non-premium) choices out there now.

@corolla4eliza You did a great job on that lease.

It's way too expensive to extend the maintenance to cover those four months. You'd have to go out to 4yr/50K and that would be $1649. Chances are, you won't have anything, and even if you do, it's likely to be way under $1000.

Is this a good deal on a 2017 X1 xdrive - premium, driver assist, cold weather, luxury and nav?

This is for a 36mo - 15k/year miles. Should I also consider paying the extra $1649 for the 4yr/50k maintenance?

I agree with the math on the quote.

Why put up $2500 of your own money? I'd structure the lease to only pay the first payment and CA DMV costs when you sign the papers.

    I wouldn't pay $1649 for only 9000 miles of coverage (from 36K-45K).

    Hi,

I was told the new Multiple Security Deposit program only apples to certain regions, and being a current MSD leasee in CA, am I eligible with the new MSD program?

    Thanks,

We've only heard anecdotal evidence.. that current MSD lessees can roll over their MSDs to a new lease. 7 SDs X .00005 each.

No idea how that works, or if it's regional.

Looking at a 2017 X1 xDrive, loaner car with 4771 miles. MSRP is $40,695. Online selling price is $36,436, sales lady that I bought my current 3 series from quoted me $385 originally and now said they will do $355/ month for 36/10 with 3000 due at signing. I know there is $2000 incentive for the 2017 X1 this month, not sure about any loyalty. Do these numbers seem right? I think the payment should be lower, including taxes. Thanks for any help!
This is 11790, Long Island NY BTW.

    Not much of a discount

    .00152 and 61% for 36/10; less $1193 for the miles (.25 per).

Confirm $2000 lease credit; no information on loyalty.

Target a selling price of $35,550 or so.

We don't recommend a large up front cash payment - just the first payment and registration costs. Roll the taxes and fees into the monthly payment.

    Thoughts on this deal?

BMW X1 2017 mineral grey metallic, black Dakota leather, cold weather, driving assistance, luxury, premium packages with navigation. MSRP $45,145.

Only got a glimpse of the final sale price and it was between 39 and 39.5k. With $2000 lease credit and $1000 college grad, I believe capital cost comes down to 36k.

Monthly price offered is $390 with $0 down and ~$3300 due at signing for all taxes/fees.
