    Sedan AWD premium plus.

First time leasing a car.  Out of Seattle WA.

Received an initial quote from a dealer. Definitely too high - any thought on how I can negotiate the price down?  I've posted all the details I have at the moment.  Thanks in advance!

    Listed Price
    $39,755
    Your Price
    $34,900
    License fee
    $629
    Doc fee
    $150
    Acq fee
    $895
     36 months 10k miles/year

    $3,000 down
    $490.63/month

    .00015 and 51%; $1500 marketing allowance

With the prices given, I get $415/mo before tax.

Part of that $3000 down is to cover the fees; the rest is lowering the cap cost.

8.5% off sticker (before the incentive) is pretty strong for Audi.

The low residual is what hurts the lease payment, here.

Thank you very much!  Very helpful!  Thanks for answering my dumb questions.
So the marketing allowance is like a rebate or something?  Something I can negotiate with the dealer?
Lastly, since the residual seems low (per your comment) - I'm also assuming that's something I can negotiate?

Residual is fixed by the bank - nothing to negotiate.

The marketing allowance is a factory to dealer incentive - likely to be included in any offer from the dealer, but it can't hurt to try to lower the selling price.

So the MF is .00019 for the 2017 model, but .00109 for the 2018 model? Why is there a difference?

End of the model year.. 2017 residuals are low, so they have to lower the money factor to get a reasonable payment that will sell cars.

Does Edmunds' TMV take into account the $1,500 "marketing allowance," or should the "marketing allowance" be subtracted from the TMV in determining a fair price?

Marketing allowance is a dealer incentive, so it should already be accounted for in TMV

    Hey guys,

Was offered this deal on a fully loaded 2017 Audi A3 and i’m trying to see if it’s a good one…

    MSRP $43,300
    $900 due at signing
    36 mo/7500 mi a year
    Monthly payment: $350 tax included

He didn’t give me the MF/residual he was using or any of the discounts - he was just trying to give me a bottom line bc it’s a 17 and he wants to move it.

    Would love some input!

That looks cheap. Of course, getting all of the numbers is important.

    Can you live with 7.5K/yr?
Going to 10K/yr only adds about $13/mo.

hello guys I just want to know that i got a good deal.

2017 audi a3 premium (basic lowest one with package option)
    -convenience package
    -18" wheel
    - sunroof

i was looking for leasing and this guy gave me
    - MSRP was about $34000 and im in GA
    - 0 down (nothing due at signing
    - $500 monthly
    - i have a trade-in car but i have to put about $3300 on my new lease car because i still owe my on bank and my used car value is not good. so i have to put $3300 more on my lease

is it a good deal ? or i can have better deal ?
this guys from dealership saying me that this is never seen crazy deal. true ?
  • johnlewis2johnlewis2 Member Posts: 20
Considering a lease for a used ex-loaner with <5k miles.

    2017 A3 Premium AWD
    - Convenience Package

So far negotiated price to $26k (after dealer fee, but before 6% tax, and title). Looking for 24/12k or 36/12k term, but yet to receive quote from dealer.

My thinking behind used is that the first year residual has already gone in effect, so I may be able to get a great monthly rate, but perhaps my thinking is wonky.

In such a scenario how would one determine what their monthly should be?

    Thanks much for the assistance.

Taxes in GA makes lease payments expensive.

What lease term and how many miles per year did you get?

What was the adjusted cap cost, with taxes and fees added in?

Is it $0 or $3300 due at signing?

The base numbers are .00007 and 53% / 46%. However, the miles on the car will affect the residual at .15 per mile.

    Complimentary first payment, this month.

What state is this? Incentives for Audi are regional.

It's in FL. There are a few of these, I see now that some were already titled, so on those I imagine there's no incentives, but untitled should be good, right? Don't have exact figure in front of me, but I believe MSRP on the one I saw was $37,800.

Sorry about the newb question. How would a marketing allowance work on a vehicle such as this, which is already priced well below MSRP?

Yes... the car is worth the same at lease end, no matter what deal you negotiate. If the residual is constant, every dollar less that you negotiate goes right into your pocket.

Dealer advising that even though untitled it won't qualify, as the vehicle was already purchased by them, and will be titled by them when moved on. Meaning the next owner will appear as a second owner, not first. Sound a bit off, but I called a second local dealer who also has an untitled loaner, and they advised the same.

Curious about the numbers for a 2017 A3 etron for 36/10k. Is the marketing allowance and conquest available on the etron as well? Thanks again!

Thank you Kyfdx! Sounds like that could make a decent lease, if I could find a 2017

Hi Michaell, just got back from a dealer and looking to run my numbers past you.

2017 A3 Premium Plus with sport package - MSRP $40,785

    Selling price $33,000

monthly payment of $497 with tax

    12k miles - 36 month

The kicker with my deal is that I have a payoff with GM Financial for $3,900 for a current lease that the Audi dealership is going to pick up and write a check for.

    What do you think?

Without the negative equity, it would be about $400/mo. with tax. That's a pretty good price. So, they are basically just adding your negative equity on top of it.

So, you are getting a good deal, but you are still eating the negative equity in the form of an extra $100/mo.
